  1. Yup! A little research for ya here:
  2. Not really - a backup file is absolutely everything that is in your hardware at the time the backup is made. Yes, run 'Restore From Backup' available from under the File drop down Menu. Then you choose which back up file to restore from - it usually has the Date and Time stamp of the last backup you made. When you choose your backup file you can then select which items you would like to restore to your hardware. Example, Global Settings, Impulse Responses, Favourites, User Model Defaults and your Preset setlists. This is usually an Indication that the Globals have not being restored properly. First rule of Firmware updates is - never update to a new version prior to a gig, or recording session. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. Not really - there is a sticky post in the first black banner across the top of these pages which states: "Line 6 has appointed the Line 6 Experts to moderate the forums, but occasionally, Line 6 staff will post to certain threads. As these are community support forums, please remember that your post is not a direct message to Line 6. If you need to contact our technical staff, please do so at www.Line6.com/support. Also, please submit your product ideas at line6.ideascale.com so the community can vote up the best ideas." Line 6 staff do not monitor this forum and rarely visit here. If you wish to attract their attention then, possibly, the best place to post your concern is either in the Digital and Modelling section of The Gear Page, or the huge Facebook Helix Family group, where they are known to hang out. Plus, it has been almost 4 years since you last asked about a battery powered Helix LT? Must have been really important? Hope the helps/makes sense. EDIT: Check this - just showed up on Farce buck https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10166454131930341&set=gm.2028714010643977
  4. No, not necessarily so. I’m a cheapskate and bought a couple of the M-Audio EX-P pedals and stuck them into the EXP 2 and 3 sockets on the rear of my Helix floor. Works a treat and had them for several years (I even use 3rd one on my master MIDI keyboard). It know the cheapo pedal is tough plastic and the Mission units are cast metal, but the thing is still only a variable resistor moved by a treadle. I could buy 10 M-Audio pedals for the price of one Mission. You could live dangerously and take a soldering iron to the ones you already own. Hope this helps/makes sense. https://m-audio.com/products/view/ex-p
  5. This phenomenon goes way back - check this, just one of many, many posts about this. https://line6.com/support/topic/19919-expression-pedal-issue-goes-0-100-0/ Hope this helps/makes sense.
  6. Hi, After performing the Firmware update, did you do a factory reset, and restore from backup, as per the update installation notes? When you updated the Firmware, your previous Global settings will have been erased - that is the purpose of the restore routine. This should put them back to how you had them set before the update, and avoids situations like this. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  7. Hi, If you are going for either the Helix LT, or Floor unit, it should be really easy. Check out some of the routing diagrams in the owner’s manuals. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f041b611d61cac763b/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev F - English .pdf https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f18374611d5dffd3a45/application/pdf/Helix LT 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev D - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  8. Hi, again, Well, you sure are excitable aren’t you? This could either be a case of “running before you can walk”, or “running with scissors”. O.K. Here we go - strap in! If/when you buy and register your HX Stomp, you will be eligible to buy Helix Native at the discount price of $99.99. Helix Native is the software brain that runs all the HX family of products, only this version is packaged as a plug-in for a Digital Audio Workstation in AU, VST 3 and AAX format. As you have a Mac and GarageBand it loads as an audio units component and then should work just as other plug-ins do. The big difference between Native, and the HX Stomp, is that Native can function as a full blown Helix floor, LT, or rack, allowing access to all four signal paths. In fact it can create some patches that would not be possible in the hardware, because it is only limited by the processing power of your computer. You could make presets that would not work in your Stomp. It also very handy for re-amping your recorded audio. BUT, (notice how big that but is!) you can achieve the same re-amping by using your Stomp only. Also, I know people are using it with GarageBand (I do have that option myself) and you can get familiar with it that way, but it is probably aimed more at regular studio users. I have no idea how much experience you have working with a DAW, but having read your other posts, I guess you are not really rigged up for home studio recording as you don’t mention any reference monitors. I use Native on an almost daily basis in Logic Pro, along with a Helix floor unit - yes, I’m a “studio rat”. The bottom line is basically, if you can afford to pick up a copy of Native for the discount price, then get it and try it, but be prepared for an even more steep learning curve than the one you’re about to hit with the HX Stomp. Watch this video for a primer. Also, read these: https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a4179ea61fd2e9472da7/application/pdf/Helix Native 3.15 Pilot's Guide - English .pdf https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a418962611d636e7c51b/application/pdf/HX Stomp 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev D - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  9. Hi, This is the same question that you posted in the Powercab section of the forum. Cross posting can be confusing. Anyhow, you haven’t really made this query quite clear enough for me to fully understand. Is the situation one of both you and your wife would be using the Stomp simultaneously, as a duo? Or do you mean, would it be possible for you to have your set of presets to use as you like, and for her to have another set of presets strictly for use with her acoustic? Either way, it should not be an issue as you can use HX Edit as a librarian to mange both your set ups. Possibly the reason for my confusion is that this post is asking about either one or two PowerCabs, in yet another post you were asking about solid state amps to use a bedroom listening levels, plus another post about using headphones. When you finally decide what you need to know about, please let us know, but try to keep it in one place as it is a pain leaping from one to the other- makes me dizzy. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. LOL - I guess you may have a way to go to catch me - I’m a real greybeard. Hi Ho Silver -away! ;-)
  11. Don’t be deterred, check the owners manuals for both the DigiTech and the Helix LT. The Trio manual has diagrams for different connection options. Have fun, you really aren’t in danger of blowing anything up. ;-)
  12. Hi, I don’t think that the Trio+ knows anything about what you are playing effects wise. You feed at a clean signal so it can learn your tune, or riff or whatever. Once you kick the switch after the learn process, you clean guitar signal will simply pass through the Trio+ into the return socket and then through any amp and fx you have set up, giving you your chosen guitar tone. That processed signal the goes out of the LT into the FX Return on the Trio. That audio is then mixed with the “backing band” out of the Trio and into the 2nd Return on the LT, which is then sent to the final output of your Helix. I feel that I must point out that I don’t own a Digital Tech Trio+, simply seen it in use, and as you have the hardware already, the best thing you can do is experiment with it all. There could well be a more elegant solution to patching this together, as noted by the guy “deadlocked”, who posted the preset you have - you could simply stick your guitar into the front of the Trio and your Helix LT into the fx loop of that. You might wish to re-read his post about that. Essentially, I don’t think you will fry anything by experimenting. The biggest down side I can think of is that you are going to be limited to mono audio throughout -it will save on DSP though. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  13. Thanks for the update on your situation - I hope you can get up and running again quickly. Good luck.
  14. Welcome to the world of Helix. Enjoy!
  15. Hi, At first glance, by the look of things, that should do it, but IIRC, there were a couple of previous posts regarding the Humboldt Simplifier and an HX Stomp that seemed to be not so simple - more complicated. Although that could have been because the Stomp also had the on board Amps and Cabs, and the Cab emulation on the Simplifier needed to be taken out of the equation. Have a search for "Humboldt" on the main page to see what it turns up. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: I have just re-read your OP and the Simplifier manual it would seem that you have it correct for the first section for adding any drive/distortion fx before the Humboldt. Then when the signal returns from the Amp sim (mono) it can be processed through the stereo chorus, delay and reverbs then straight out of the HXFX OUTPUT to Simplifier L R Return sockets. Essentially, the line you have drawn in red from return 2 needs to be removed and connected to HXFX OUTPUT Right then to Right (Mono) Return on Simplifier. The link drawn in blue (HXFX OUTPUT) should be connected to the Left Return on the Amp Sim - that should do it.
  16. Yes, you can create an aggregate device setting for the HX Stomp and your Audio Interface. It’s very simple to record a DI audio signal from your Stomp by simply arming a track set to record from USB 3&4in your DAW. This provides a stereo unprocessed signal that you can use to re-amp by sending that track back out to the Stomp set to receive on USB 5&6. The HX Stomp 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Rev D - English has the details, and diagrams of recording and re-amping on page 56. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. No problem, Motörhead was thrown in there as a point of reference purely for volume. If you like good tone, watch this young man running through the latest reverbs added to the 3.15 firmware on an HX Stomp. Enjoy!
  18. This has cropped up before - way back in 2016 Check the legacy section for Filter > Voice Box Filter > V Tron Filter > Q Filter Filter > Seeker Filter > Obi Wah Filter > Tron Up Filter > Tron Down Filter > Throbber Filter > Slow Filter Filter > Spin Cycle Filter > Comet Trails Not the same a plugging in a Banshee - but hey! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. Sorry, it took me a while to stop laughing at these perceived “problems”. First up - if you are looking for the trouser flapping moving of air that you experience with a tube amp and stack in a room, that ain’t gonna happen with any modelling system. If you want that buy a Marshall stack. Having said that, if you have ever been in a studio control room listening to a fully produced guitar signal (in stereo), then that is what you will get from a digital modelling unit. Therefore, you also need to consider you will not be able to create Motörhead levels in your bedroom with a tube amp unless you have very understanding neighbours, but you can “virtually” with modelling technology - you did start this thread with “in order to play my guitar silently at home while listening at the same time to some background music etc.. from my iPad/ iPhone, all this on my IEM earphones or audiophile headphones.” Second - Why would you need a Helix Floor, or LT to use a Powercab? There are thousand of users out in the real world that seem to manage just fine. The firmware that is the HX engine is identical throughout the range of units, the main difference is the “big” Helix units have twice the DSP, plus more in/out options, and can create more complex signal paths - the tone is the same. Third - The discussion about headphones has been done to death many times over in this and other forums. I don’t know what else I can add that hasn’t already been said, other than, take care when using headphones at high volume - your ears may bleed. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  20. That’s great if you only ever want to use the limited amount of stuff in the Fender amp. The advantage of the HX Stomp, is not only do you get the option of modelled classic tube amps (Fender, Marshall, Vox, Hiwatt, Mesa), it also has boutique and even some that don’t exist in the real world (Badonk, Ventoux), plus Bass amps, alongside a multitude of fantastic effects, still being added to (free) after almost 7years. You can playback your backing tracks from YouTube via USB to your headphones, or powered monitors/Powercab What are you waiting for?
  21. No problem. It was quickly thrown together to give you something to consider. There are other ways of creating the same result, snapshots etc. Now you know it can be done, you can chop it around to suit your set up Have fun.
  22. You didn't say what other amp and effects you would want to include in your signal chain. I mention this because as soon as you add the Poly Pitch block you will be losing a great deal of options on what you can add as it uses a big chunk DSP. Anyhow use this as a starting point to see if it is anywhere close to what you are trying to do. The A/B path split is achieved by using the EXP 1 pedal to switch between the 2 paths. Hope this helps/makes sense. PitchLoop.hlx
  23. First and last post and you scored a “lollipop”. Ah, well. Anyhow, this is not an airport - there is no need to announce your departure.
  24. Hi, Hmm… second post with very limited information to work with. O.K. As I understand the situation, you have now managed to install the latest firmware v.3.15 and your Helix appears to be fully functional, other than the control of the large Volume knob. Once more, I will guess that after successfully installing the firmware, you performed a factory reset and restore from backup as required to fully complete the installation along with the rebuilding presets routine? If so, then all should be good, and without any more detailed information about how your Helix is hooked up to any ancillary equipment, i.e.: computer, mixing desk, monitors, amps, headphones, FRFR speakers, I will suggest that you check Global Settings, page 63 of the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Rev F - English, which states:- “Volume Knob Controls - Determines which output(s) are affected when turning the top panel VOLUME knob. For example, you may want to control the level sent from the 1/4" outputs to your stage monitor without affecting the XLR level sent to the front-of-house mixer. Or you may want to disable the VOLUME knob altogether; in this case, set it to “Digital,” at which point Helix’s 1/4" and XLR outs will be at unity level.” Hope this helps/makes sense.
  25. Hi, You don'y say what computer and OS you're using, and I'm also going to guess that you were trying to update from a version of the firmware prior to v2.80, where this is an expected occurrence and is fully noted in the Release Notes.. O.K. Let’s give this one more shot - Recover from failed update procedures v.3.15 First - remove all prior installations of Line 6 HX Edit - on a Mac ensure there are no aliases pointing back to an earlier version. Now go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "- Choose Hardware -" select Helix, then under "- Choose Software -" select HX Edit, now select your PC/Mac OS from under the "- Choose OS -" tab, then click “Go”. From the next page you can select HX Edit 3.15 for your Helix LT, repeat the download procedure for the Firmware v.3.15 Flash Memory, and the Line 6 Updater version 1.23. Download all these items to your computer and note where they are. Unplug the USB cable from both your computer and the Helix, then turn the Helix off and then on again while holding down Foot Switches 6&12 while turning the power on. This will put your Helix into “Safe Boot” mode, at this point you may see a black, or error screen, but just keep going. Ensure that HX Edit is closed and reconnect you Helix to your computer with a known good USB cable - do not use a hub, some front USB ports on PCs act like a hub, so use one of the ports on the back. Ensure you are disconnected from the internet, also Shut down all Line 6 software or any programs that use audio, like DAWs, iTunes, Spotify, video games, etc. If your computer's sleep timer is set relatively short, disable it, as the update can fail if your computer goes to sleep. Make sure external devices are not currently sending MIDI to Helix/HX. If you're unsure, unplug Helix/HX's MIDI IN port. Now launch the Updater Utility that you downloaded earlier, and then select "Offline Mode". Your Helix and current firmware version should now show up in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - click “Choose File”, point it at the Flash Memory file you downloaded and let it get on with the update. If you are updating from a firmware version prior to v.2.80 the installation may appear to happen twice - this is normal as the Core operating system is being modified. When it completes, you need to perform a factory reset on your Helix, then you can install the new HX Edit v.3.15 software, perform a restore from backup using the file you created before starting the failed update, and you should be good to go. Please note: After you complete the restore from back up, you will notice that the next time you restart the hardware, it will run the “Rebuilding Presets” routine. This is perfectly normal as it ensures that all you older presets are optimised for use in the new firmware. Also, any time you install a preset created with an earlier version of the firmware (e.g. a preset downloaded from CustomTone, etc.), the Rebuilding Presets function will run again after the next restart - this is an expected housekeeping routine for the unit. No guarantees are given or implied, you do this at your own risk. If it doesn’t work, raise a ticket with Customer Support - you may have a hardware issue that cannot be resolved by anyone in this user forum. Hope this helps/makes sense.
