Helix Update 3.0.1 "Boot Failure, Entered Update Mode!"
datacommando replied to sventydeman's topic in Helix
Hi, There could be many reasons for this, but try this procedure. You don’t mention what your computer and OS are, but I will guess Windows plus the same routine should be the same for Mac. You also didn’t mention what version of the firmware you are updating from. If it was prior to v2.8 the installation may appear to happen twice, or you may encounter the “Boot Failure” message - This is normal and expected behaviour. O.K. Let’s try this. Remove all the previously installed Line 6 software from your computer especially the Windows drivers and then restart your computer. Launch HX EDIT and it will install the latest drivers. Make sure to turn off the power to your HELIX. Unplug the USB cable from the computer and HELIX. Reboot your computer once more. DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET, WI-FI, AND ENSURE THAT NO OTHER APPLICATIONS WHICH MAY INTERFERE WITH THE INSTALLATION, ARE RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND. Ensure that HX Edit is definitely closed and that you now have your HELIX reconnected to your PC by USB cable (do not use a hub, some front USB ports on PCs act like a hub) and hold down Foot Switches “6 & 12” while turning the power on. This puts your Helix into “Safe Boot Mode” (You may see a black screen, but keep going). Now, launch the Line 6 Updater Utility and select "Offline Mode". Your HELIX and current firmware version should now show up in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - point it at the Flash Memory file you downloaded and let it get on with the update. When it finishes, allow your hardware to rebuild the presets which may take a few minutes. When it completes you need to perform a Factory Reset on your hardware, then you can install the new HX Edit v. X.XX software and re-install your backup file which has all your Global settings, then you should be good to go. Click on the black dot containing a white question mark in a white circle in the lower left of this screen - here you will find a list of reset options for Helix products. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Request Update? Selectable Stompbox vs Snapshot Mode Per Preset
datacommando replied to TyneGuitar's topic in Helix
Hi, That approach is like blundering around in the dark. The Release Notes provided with each Firmware update usually lists all the important stuff for you. As the saying goes - “a picture is worth a thousand words” - this video might help. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, You say the power supply still functions, therefore it could well be a hardware failure in the HX FX. The usual suggestion for trying to fix things is a Factory Reset to try to blow the bugs out, but if you can’t get it to power up then you really are stuck. (Factory Reset - Hold down FS6 and TAP while turning the power on.) As your unit is pre-owned it is probably out of warranty, but you could still try to have it repaired by the official Line 6 -Yamaha Guitar Group service centre in the Netherlands. HANEX Waaier 36 VW Leimuiden, 2451 Phone: +31172506993 Email: info@hanexservice.nl URL: http://www.hanexservice.nl Also one in Germany PMS Electronics GmbH Große Heide 27 Minden, 32425 Phone: +49571646000 Email: info@pms.de URL: http://www.pms.de I know that Bax Netherlands and Thomann are Line 6 dealers/distributors, so you could contact them to see if they can help you. https://www.bax-shop.nl https://www.thomann.de/nl/compinfo_contact.html Veel geluk Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, See reply in your other post about this.

Hi, The Helix floor manual explains “ True Preset Spillover”, and the parameter setting for “Trails” on delay effects etc. Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Rev F - English - Pages 21/22 and Page 32 Not sure what is causing the “latency” and/or “click, pop”, but there is also a whole section on MIDI on Pages 72 and 73. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Why is Helix Native not working on Cubase 12? Windows 11
datacommando replied to zyggy's topic in Helix Native
Hi again, I haven’t used Cubase for many years, but I thought the problem might be with the DAW rather than HX Native. A quick check on the Cubase forums revealed this thread: https://forums.steinberg.net/t/cubase-12-sometimes-loads-up-without-3rd-party-plugins/770083 Also, you should check that Native has not been”blacklisted” by Cubase when it scans the plug-ins. More Cubase troubleshooting tips available here: https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/cubase-vst-plug-in-management/ Hope this helps/makes sense. -

All Presets name replaced by "NewPreset" after updating to 3.0
datacommando replied to gerardmin's topic in Helix
Hi, It’s not an “issue”, it is a know consequence of not following the firmware update procedures as mentioned in the release notes. I would guess that possibly more than 90% of “issues” are avoidable by the user. This thing is so common that it really should have it’s own “sticky”, similar to this one: Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi , As you can see from the time stamp on the post that you quoted, it is dated January 2021 - The OP, and two others, never replied to the suggestion that they should contact Line 6 Customer Support, or report back any solution for group users. Although from his "history" it would appear that "jcwaldo" last visited the forum on February 2nd 2022. In your current situation, I would suggest the same thing, as the usual factory reset procedure seemed to fail to fix the issue. None of the Line 6 Staff monitor these forums, it's just a user group. You really do need Tech Support Hope this helps/makes sense.

Why is Helix Native not working on Cubase 12? Windows 11
datacommando replied to zyggy's topic in Helix Native
Hi, By simply saying “it is not working”, you haven’t given us much to go on in order to help you. Try this. If this does not provide the solution, then you will need to supply all the relative information regarding your issue. The other course of action is to raise a ticket with Customer Support, but they will also need the same sort of information to be able to assist you. This is a user group - no members of Line 6 staff monitor these forums. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, That would seem to be the quickest, and simplest solution. It’s purely a mechanical issue - nothing would be harmed by doing it. Good luck.

Hi, I have just posted a reply to your question regarding USB on Helix hardware. In that previous thread, you said that you were considering upgrading from a POD HD500. I’m a little confused by your request for a firmware update to a product that you don’t own? As noted by “rd2rk” in the post above - these forums are not monitored by Line 6 staff, therefore your suggestion will have little or no chance of been acted on. Post you request to IdeaScale. Also, you mention the position, and clunkiness of the footswitches, but say that you realise the Helix is better. Hmm… that is some thing that only you can determine by actually trying them for yourself. One man’s “unergonomic/loud (in really intimate settings), wrong position and just plain clunky”, could well be perfectly normal to someone else. Note: most Helix users that are looper fans tend to use their own favourite dedicated external looper patched into the Send and Return of the Helix. I have 3 different Loopers (Ditto x4, Boss RC30, and a cheapo Ammoon Stereo) each for their different capabilities, and quirks such a loop length, backing track etc. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, From the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual- Rev F - English - Page 9 - Back Panel USB Helix also functions as a high quality, multi-in/out, 24-bit/96kHz audio inter- face for Mac and Windows® computers, with DI, Re-amping, and MIDI functionality built right in. Helix can also record to an iPad or iPhone mobile device (with optional Apple Camera Connection Kit). Use of a USB 2.0 (or higher) port is required—Do not use an external USB hub All the manuals for the range of Helix product are full of useful information. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f041b611d61cac763b/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev F - English .pdf Oh, yeah, the HD500 - I still have a POD HD500 which I previously used to patch into my Helix floor just to use the Dimensions effect. Those fine people at Line 6 then added all that stuff as Legacy FX in the Helix. Therefore, as you say you are looking to upgrade, I would suggest that you “road test” a Helix - it’s light years away from your HD - no comparison! Hope this helps/makes sense.

Short answer - No. This came up recently in this thread:-

Hi again, Good luck with that, as it is possibly the only way to track down what is causing this mysterious phenomenon. “When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” ~ Arthur Conan Doyle, The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes. ;-)
-
This is odd, really very odd, in fact I have never heard of anything like this previously. If you are using the same cables etc., and your XL Stomp functions as expected with every other amp you have tried, then why do you suspect the issue is with the Stomp and not something else happening with the Fender? I had a quick look at the schematic for the Super 60 and nothing leaps out as particularly unusual. It does appear to have a Preamp Out/Power Amp In (FX Loop), have you tried hooking up 4 cable method through that, because your post made it appear you are simply jacking into the front panel? Owner’s Manual here: https://www.fmicassets.com/Damroot/Original/10001/OM_leg_gtramp_Super_60.pdf Schematic available here: https://ampwares.com/schematics/super_60_rack.pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Really? You’re surprised by this? Your firmware and HX Edit MUST be on the same version number.
-
Hi, In order to be able to assist you with this issue, you really need to supply more information. What computer and operating system, versions of the software etc. Simply saying "Same problem" and "don't work anymore" is not helpful at all. I guess from the "don't work anymore"comment, you previously must have had a fully functioning version of Helix Native running in Reaper. What changed? Hope this helps/makes sense.

Oops! my mistake. I seemed to recall that you had mentioned a PC+ on XLR in a previous post. Anyhow, it still remains a fact that you can only add a widening effect to mono signal converted to a stereo signal ;-)

Just updated to latest Firmware and can't access backup!

Good to know that you got there in the end - remember “Fail Safe” - always have back up of your backup! -
Just updated to latest Firmware and can't access backup!
datacommando replied to joesnewmatch's topic in Helix
This may sound obvious, but please ensure that the version of HX Edit you are using is 3.15. It is not unknown for some Mac users to have an alias back to an earlier version still lurking on their computer. If it really is HX Edit 3.15 then possibly, as noted by “silverhead” above, you need to ensure that your permissions are set correctly for the folder where the .hxb files are (Mac security as started to become a total PITA). You could also try making a copy of the .hxb files to another area of the Mac (Desktop) where you can access them, then navigate to that location from the HX Edit “Restore From Backup…” window. Remember - always work on a copy. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Just updated to latest Firmware and can't access backup!
datacommando replied to joesnewmatch's topic in Helix
Hi, When you made the "Backup" before installing the FW update, HX Edit by default would place it on your Mac in "Documents/Line6/Tones/Backups" and the file would be named and dated to suit your hardware and tagged as a .hxb file. There should be previous backup files available to restore if you have been making incremental backups with earlier updates. Check for them under the dropdown option on the restore window. To restore the backup you should select "Restore From Backup..." found under the "File" dropdown menu on your Mac. This should automatically point you to where the file was saved. Then choose the Backup items that you wish to restore. If that is not happening, then you could try to "Extract Files From Backup" - also under the Mac's File menu. Using extract should pull out and retrieve any, or all, the files from the backup bundle. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
You beat me to it! It's all rather pointless really. Logic decrees it is not possible make mono wider - although Helix does have a a Stereo Imager block that accepts mono input but, of course, what is spits out is ultimately a stereo signal. I think the OP has a PowerCab+ on one of the XLR outs, and is using the second to FOH. "Back to mono" as Phil Spector once said - Oops! maybe shouldn't mention him! ;-)
