  1. Hi Brane, I don’t think that your unit will be covered by warranty in this instance, but it may be worth a try - it should be fit for purpose. You didn’t say which area of Europe you are in, but you can track down the nearest Line 6 authorised repair shop by entering your details into this page: https://line6.com/find/service_center/ Hope this helps/makes sense
  2. This has been discussed many, many, many times on here and other forums. Resurrecting a post from 2017 isn’t going to make any difference- this horse is dead. Trust me - it’s your OCD. Huh? They did drop it in the Legacy > Modulation folder way back in Firmware version 2.50 released on February 7th 2018 - over 5 years ago! Once again your were replying to a comment in a dead thread from mid 2017. There is a much more recent thread on here, from May 2021, which states: Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. Hi, I can’t see the EXT/AMP idea being feasible as the Digitech Freqout isn’t designed to work with any type of external trigger. Also, If it was in your FX Loop you would still need to kick in the switch with your foot, as that FX block would need to be open for the signal flow to continue. Maybe easier to move it, or the HXFX, elsewhere on your board layout. Hope this helps/make sense. EDIT: I have just read the spec sheet and the “how it works” info for the Freqout provided by DIigiTech on their website. No external triggering (other than your foot) and also it is recommended that the device is placed first in the signal chain. https://www.digitech.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-masterCatalog_Harman/default/dw86d7d044/pdfs/DigiTech_FreqOut_Manual.pdf
  4. As noted in the posts above from “silverhead” and “rd2rk”, for selecting the MIC Input and 48v phantom power options, then you can use the USB to connect to your computer and DAW, or choose the XLR or 1/4” out to your mixer. To have more/better control over your mic signal you can add a Studio Tube Pre, EQ, and maybe a Reverb block to the signal path. Hope this helps/makes sense. More info available from the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Rev F - English which can be downloaded from here: https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f041b611d61cac763b/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev F - English .pdf German version here: https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a4033d0611d622032133/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev F - German .pdf
  5. Did you read this? Hope tis helps/makes sense.
  6. I had one of those once. Could never get the thing to sound the same twice! ;-)
  7. Hi, There are stacks of threads on here discussing the reasons why HX Edit fails to open on Window machines Have you fallen foul of the dreaded SD Card in slot issue? That one seems to be the favourite cause of this problem. Here: Or here: Hope this helps/makes sense
  8. Hi, The installation process has been updated to make upgrading the firmware easier by using HX Edit to effectively screen the installation process from those more timid of dealing with updates. Although, there are still situations such as yours, where some folks have bad or intermittent access to the internet and WI-FI. In those cases you can still use the Line 6 Updater app to preform the update offline using your laptop as before. You don’t mention what your computer and OS are, but I will guess Windows plus the same routine should be the same for Mac. Go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-Choose Hardware-" select HELIX then go to the "-Choose Software-" menu item and select HX EDIT, now select your Windows system or Mac OSX from under the "-Choose OS-" tab, the click “Go”. From the next page you can select the latest version of HX Edit for your HELIX . Then you will also need the latest version of Firmware Flash Memory. Also on this page you should find the latest version of Line 6 Updater - you will need this too. Download all these items to your laptop and note where they are. Firstly install the latest version of HX Edit on your laptop, which should install all, or any required drivers. Next you will need to connect the USB to your laptop and 2nd Helix, then using HX Edit make a total backup of everything on it. Next - quit HX Edit and make sure that nothing else is running which may interfere with the update. Now, launch the Line 6 Updater Utility and select "Offline Mode". Your HELIX and current firmware version should now show up in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - point it at the Flash Memory file you downloaded and let it get on with the update. When it finishes, allow your hardware to rebuild the presets which may take a few minutes. When it completes you need to perform a Factory Reset on your hardware, and re-install the back up that you made as it contains not just presets, but also your Global settings. You may need to restart your Helix again, just to be sure all is well. If all is functional you can launch the new HX Edit, then you can install the new presets and you should be good to go. Hope this helps/makes sense. Recommended reading:
  9. Bugs? Bugs? Ain’t no bugs in here! :-)
  10. Hi, When you have a situation where you were once able to do something perfectly then it suddenly stops working as it did, you have to ask the question - “what changed?”. You will usually find the solution is right there. To be certain that there is not a fault with your HX Stomp USB hardware or cables, download one of the freely available DAWs and test it, as suggested by “rd2rk” in his post above. Oh, yeah, I also have to agree that Pro Tools First is truly awful. It’s so bad, that I would never use it, and I even forgot that I still had a copy of it. Logic is my DAW of choice, but like “rd2rk” I also have Reaper, Ableton, GarageBand, Studio One etc., for testing purposes and trouble shooting issues that come up in here. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. Hi, The OP was asking about the MODE and TAP switches, which AFAIK really cannot be modified. The OP didn’t mention if he was only using the 4 ABCD switches. I’m not sure if you are aware that but using Command Centre you can add the 2 BANK UP/DOWN switches for whatever purpose you require give you access to six footswitches. If you haven’t already seen this - here’s a link. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. ^^^THIS^^^ Also, you have the option to add as many instances of the HX Native plug-in as your computer system can handle at one time. It can become a huge asset, even if you are not using any of the amps and simply using the effect available - some of which are interesting and unique, Euclidean Delay and Heliosphere for example.
  13. Nope - sonically they’re identical. I have both a Helix Floor unit and HX Native in use almost daily. HX Native is the same software “brain” that runs in the hardware. The only difference really is the things that are available in the hardware, eg: Send/Return, FX Loop, Looper are obviously not available in the plug-in. There is a section in the HX Native Pilot’s Guide that explains the Hardware Compatibility Mode for when you import presets created on various HX hardware units. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a4179ea61fd2e9472da7/application/pdf/Helix Native 3.15 Pilot's Guide - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. Hi, I wish I could understand just wtf is going on here. First he cannot re-amp because of the Scarlett 2i2 patched in along with the HX Stomp. With the Focusrite out of the picture, he says that there is still no audio arriving in ProTools First on USB 5. In a later post, after a long gap from back in March, he says that the HXS is being used as “an interface (setup-playback engine)”. Now it appears he can manage to record a DI using USB 3&4 (?), but fails to get it to re-amp. I’m not even sure if “Metallurgy” is still in the equation here. I have a feeling that something is getting lost in translation somewhere down the line. Totally confusing. It seems to have started after the 3.15 update -Factory reset? Good luck trying to figure this one out!
  15. Hi, In order to record and re-amp, you need to set up Pro Tools First to capture the processed audio from your HX Stomp on USB input channels 1&2. You need another to simultaneously record the dry unaffected audio on a track feed from USB channel 5. To re-amp, the DI (dry signal) should be sent out of PT1st from USB channels 5&6 to your HXS. Your Stomp should be set to whatever preset you want to use for the new (re-amped) audio, but the input on the HXS must be set to receive on USB 5&6. The new processed audio is sent out from the Stomp on USB 1&2, back into a track in PTools armed to record on USB 1&2. I could have saved myself a lot of needless typing here, by simply telling you to read page 56 of the HX Stomp 3.0 Owner’s Manual - DI Recording & Re-Amping. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a418962611d636e7c51b/application/pdf/HX Stomp 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev D - English .pdf It even has coloured diagrams showing the connections. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: If you want to be informed of response to your post by email, simple click the pale blue “Follow” button at the top or bottom left of this page.
  16. Hi, IIRC there was some dispute about a copyright issue with this item - bit of a grey area, but if you check about 5 posts above yours, there is a post by "antonio1961" date September 3 2018, and if you click on the link named "L6 H-Floor Sticker A4 Print .pdf" it should download to your computer. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. O.K. Never come across this sort of issue before. I cannot think of any other options to try, and it would appear that others don’t have any solutions either. This is a user group and generally can fix minor problems via the hive mind. If it doesn’t work as it should, or it is a hardware failure, you could have it replaced under warranty. Note: Line 6 staff do not monitor these forums, therefore I suggest that you raise a ticket with Customer Support, or contact the supplier you bought it from regarding a replacement.
  18. Hi again, A couple of clues here - you say that you “haven’t changed any of the global settings” and also, you “updated the firmware to the latest”. What you didn’t say was that you followed ALL the update installation instructions TO THE LETTER. If so, then you will be aware it states. Quote: Anything else I should know? Yes. We STRONGLY recommend performing a factory reset AFTER UPDATING your Helix/HX firmware to 3.15 and THEN RESTORING YOUR BACKUP. (Backing up is part of the update process). Here's how to perform a factory reset. IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP FIRST, AS A FACTORY RESET WILL ERASE ALL YOUR WORK! Helix Floor/LT: While holding footswitches 9 & 10 (bottom row, 2 middle switches), turn on Helix Floor/LT Helix Rack: While holding knobs 5 & 6 (2 furthest right knobs below the screen), turn on Helix Rack HX Effects: While holding footswitches 6 & TAP (2 farthest right switches on the bottom row), turn on HX Effects HX Stomp: While holding footswitches 2 & 3, turn on HX Stomp HX Stomp XL: While holding footswitches C & D, turn on HX Stomp End quote. You may think that you haven’t modified the global settings, but the update will have reset the unit. That is the reason you have to make a backup, do a factory reset and then restore. First rule of Helix world is when stuff doesn’t do what you expect, or starts getting weird, then do a factory reset. Also, if you “just received the Stomp XL and have been using it for a day”, and it is a genuine hardware fault the warranty will get you a brand new replacement box. Simple as that! Having said all this, I really can’t understand why you want to mess with the USB Trim, simply use the computer volume. Seems like everyone else does. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. Hi again, Well I have just checked using my Helix floor, and the USB In 1/2 Trim works exactly as expected. I guess you have checked that the knob which controls the USB Trim, works properly with all other options that to is designed to control and is not simply malfunctioning? There are more/different routing options available on the floor model, but mine is set to: USB In 1/2 Destination = Multi USB In 1/2 Trim = 0.0dB Volume Knob Controls = Multi Headphones Monitor = Multi Main Monitors are on the Helix XLR connectors and headphone on the Helix Phones socket. Although, as noted by "silverhead" in the post above, generally I would simply lower the volume coming from the Music (iTunes) app, YouTube or whatever into the Helix. If I need everything to be louder, then I just lean across and turn the big knob marked "Volume". All monitoring and mixing of my Logic Pro audio and MIDI recording are output over USB using an Xtouch Universal Control Surface. Having used this setup almost daily since buying my Helix back in late 2015, I don't actually recall ever having recourse to use the USB Trim function, other than to test that it works. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  20. Hi, The Trim option should function for the USB in from your Mac. I have my Helix floor permanently hooked up to my iMac via USB and the “Trim” feature works as expected. I’m not sure what is happening in your instance, and as I’m not in the studio until later today, I’m unable to check out the possible reasons. I will check ASAP, when I get in back there. For the moment, in this situation, I would suggest that you reset your Globals from HX Edit using the last backup you made. Failing that you could try rebuilding your presets by holding down the Upper & Lower knobs while turning the power on. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: I just read your post again, and you mentioned that you are monitoring using headphones. You should check the options for what is being routed to you cans.
  21. Hi, Actually, just to clarify what the OP mentions above - the XL Manual page 56 - Global Settings > Ins/Outs states: USB In 1/2 Trim - Sets the level of incoming audio from USB 1/2, which bypasses all HX Stomp XL processing. Normally, this should be left at 0.0dB. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. I don’t think anyone ever asked Michelangelo (di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni) how many different brushes, or chisels he needed at any given time. You could ask her how many pair of shoes/handbags etc., she actually needs - I mean she can’t wear them all at once.
  23. Hi, The post above from “bohica72” would appear to be the answer to your preset levelling issue. It has been discussed here many, many times and the full answer is to set you presets at gig level. It is likely that you are experiencing what is more regularly referred to as “ Fletcher Munson Curve”. Link: https://ehomerecordingstudio.com/fletcher-munson-curve/ Regarding the situation of “hiss or buzz (noise)” - well that’s rather abstract - define noise, buzz etc. One man’s “hiss” is another man’s tinnitus. Without an audio example how can we understand what you determine to be “noise”. You could try the usual troubleshooting routines, dirty power supply, in/out connection sockets, cable checking, pickups, noise gate setting for a start. You mention that this phenomenon “seems to be built into some of the presets I have purchased”. If you are unhappy with the presets that you have paid for, then you really need to ask the vendor why they are “noisy”, and ask them to solve the issues. If you are able to create “noiseless” presets, check those against the one you have bought to try and find how they differ. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. Hi, If you know the dimensions of the washer - overall diameter, hole diameter and thickness, plus the material (steel, nylon) then you should be able to pick up replacements from any hardware supplier. Fleabay and Amazon have bulk packs, so you never need run out. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  25. Hey up, Marra, Hold on to that dream, but until then it is advisable to read the Release Notes, and the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual, so that you don’t get caught out on any changes to the way things work. Sometimes it’s not the picture you need - it’s the 1000 words or a permanent guitar tech. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f041b611d61cac763b/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev F - English .pdf May be you have just fallen foul of this change (from the v3.15 release notes) Per-Snapshot Command Center > HX Snpsht Values Command Center > HX Snapshot command parameters can now be controlled by Snapshots themselves. For example, imagine that you are on Snapshot 1 and create an HX Snapshot command on FS2. You set it so that pressing that switch recalls Snapshot 3. You then switch to Snapshot 3 and set the same switch to recall Snapshot 6. Recall Snapshot 6 and set the switch to recall Snapshot 2. Finally, you recall Snapshot 2 and set the switch to recall Snapshot 1. Now, you go back to Snapshot 1 and begin pressing the switch. Each successive press recalls the assigned Snapshot and you would cycle Snapshot 1 > 3 > 6 > 2 > 1 > 3 > 6 > 2 and so on for each switch press. NOTE: this assumes that the Snapshot Edits global is set to Recall. If it's set to Discard, you'd have to save the preset after each set in order for the changes to stick Hope this helps makes sense.
