  1. HX Effects Don’t Panic - It is very rare that a glitch in the firmware will actually turn your device into an paperweight. I keep saying that I will stop doing this, but here we go again. Once more from the top! You mentioned that you were updating your HX to the latest v3.15 firmware, from version 2.51. I mention this is because, IIRC, the “boot failure” is actually part of the 2.8 update process, when the main system Core was modified. It seems to me this happens when trying to update from firmware versions prior to the Core change, which is what yours was. Firstly go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-Choose Hardware -" select HX Effects. Leave the "-Choose Software-" menu item as it is, now select your Mac OSX from under the "-Choose OS-" tab, then click “Go”. From the next page you can select HX Edit 3.15 for your HX Effects. You will also need the Firmware 3.15 Flash Memory, and the Line 6 Updater version 1.25 - you will need this too. Download all these items to your computer and note where they are. Then: Remove all previous Line 6 software from your computer especially the Windows drivers and then restart your computer. Make sure to turn off the power to your HX Effects. Unplug the USB cable from the computer and the HXFX. Power up the HX Effects while holding down “PAGE >”. Will put the unit in a fail safe update mode. Use this when the HX Effects is in an un-recoverable state. Should doing this give you a completely blank screen, you should be able to re-install the firmware again.) Leave the HX Effects powered up. Now you can install the latest HX Edit v. 3.15 (with all the drivers) Reconnect the USB cable to the HX Effects and your computer - Do not use a Hub. (Some USB ports on the front of a PC can act as a hub, so use one on the back). Ensure that HX Edit is closed and also shutdown any other background tasks, screen savers etc., also disconnect from any internet services. You don’t want anything to interfere with this installation routine. Now, find and launch the Line 6 Updater Utility and select "Offline Mode". Your HX Effects and current firmware version should now show up in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - point it at the Flash Memory 3.15 file you downloaded and let it get on with the update. When it completes you will need to perform a Factory Reset on your HX Effects (hold down FS6+TAP while turning the power on) and then you can launch the new HX Edit v.3.15 software and you should be good to go. No guarantee is given or implied - you do this at your own risk. If this fails, contact Line 6 Customer Support and raise a ticket. Hope this helps/makes sense. NOTE: The reason you cannot use HX Edit to make any changes to your presets is probably because they are on different version numbers - the versions must match the installed firmware. Also, a possible reason for not being able to complete the installation with Line 6 Updater is if HX Edit is still open it will block the connection - please ensure it is not running in the background. EDIT: I have just seen your other post regarding this issue over on TGP. Guess I might have wasted my time.
  2. Type “sunlight” into the search option at the top of this page, “Sascha” had lots to say - or move into the shade.
  3. Ahh! When I said that a firmware update can give you more HP, that comment was actually in reference to Helix Native, which when it has the “Hardware Compatibility” switched off, it can run unfettered by limitations of the onboard DSP of your LT, your computer is not shackled like the Helix hardware. You may have misconstrued my comment, but if you ever want to use 2 poly capo blocks in a preset use HXN with compatibility off. Having said that, there have been rumours that the Helix “core” is undergoing another streamlining modification to make everything run more efficiently - Note: it was just a comment I read on TGP, take with rather a large pinch of salt. Have fun!
  4. Ah, ha - I guess that will depend if Fractal can get hold of the processors - if it hadn't escaped your attention, there does seem to be a world-wide shortage of chips due to the recent pandemic. It may be a long wait. Hardware Compatibilty Mode - find it by clicking on the small gear icon in the lower left hand corner of the Native GUI window. While you are there click the question mark icon and check the Pilot's Guide. The compatibly mode is on page 14. :-)
  5. The firmware can give you more horse power - you have just bought Helix Native for a bargain price, and the thing about Native is it is only limited by the power of your computer. it usually matches the settings to your hardware unit - Helix , Stomp, FX, whatever, but you have the option to turn that off and really create a monster. Check the preferences. Try that with a Fractal box. The discussion over on TGP regarding Line 6 firmware "Helix 3.2" is currently up to 367 pages of speculation - but it is going to be big. The reason we are at still at 3.15 is because that should have really been part of 3.2, except the thing evolved in to some sort of juggernaut, and that chunk was released to keep the troops happy. As for what is in it, and when it will hit the streets is anybody's guess. Digital Igloo occasionally drops a few teaser hints over in the TGP threads, although commits to nothing, but if you though 3.15 was "major" - this way beyond that. Every release date that people have guessed so far have been and gone, but as Eric (Digital Igloo) always says in these instances is, it will be "SOON".
  6. Hmmm… spend more money - or, wait for the next Helix firmware update - it’s free! Yay!
  7. Hi, Short answer - yes, just like any other audio interface plug it in, but from looking at the video for the product it’s rather along the lines of an expensive iRig 2 that I have, which allows me to throw quick ideas onto my iPad, or using the Apple Camera Kit. With the Apogee, you hook up the USB to your iPad and stick a 1/4” jack from the Helix into the other end. That seems to be it. Now, if you are wanting to record direct into something like GarageBand, or Logic Pro on a regular Mac desktop, or laptop, just take a USB cable out of the Helix into your iMac and then record direct to fully processed stereo, along with a dry unprocessed audio track for re-amping if you wish. Actually you can have up to 8 USB channels all at the same time. With the Helix you could record fully processed stereo audio for your guitar and vocal, along with the dry untreated signal. You can also playback your backing tracks over USB through your Helix. Use the Helix over USB for direct digital recording, use the Apogee gizmo for another round of analogue/digital conversion through one jack plug. I know people don’t like this, but check the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Rev F - English - pages 68-70, USB Audio. It can solve a lot of problems. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: Ye gods - I have just seen the price of the Apogee One! Are they joking? They’re kidding right? What?
  8. Yeah, you can find it here:- https://shop.line6.com/software/helix-native.html No need to start an new thread with an identical title - everyone else posted their request in the 4 pages already here:- Hope this helps/makes sense.
  9. Hi, AFAIK - all you need to do is authorised the installed demo version with the license details from your account. It's about five years since I installed mine from the demo to full version. You should find it listed under your Purchase History listed as Helix Native for Helix owners. Also check under Product Activations where you will find the Code needed to activate the full version. Grab it quick, while it's still on offer. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. Hi, Apologies, but this isn't very clear to me. It would be a great help to know a lot more about your set up, and what you are really trying to achieve. For example:- The make and model of your preamp unit, so we can be clear about all its connection and control options. You mention - "One to engage my drives all at once". Are these drives the ones inside the HX Stomp, or external on your board? If external what make(s)/model(s) what Ins/Outs does each one have? Also - "one for my delay and reverb" - once again, are these the HX Stomp FX, or outboard? If external what make(s)/model(s) and what Ins/Outs does each unit have? Stereo, or mono fx? I'm guessing it's a guitar in at the front of the HX Stomp, but then at the end of the signal chain - what is the audio going out to? A diagram of the current set up, and what you envisage, would help others to know what we are dealing with. Saying that you "want to use my Stomp mostly for switching purposes on my pedalboard", sounds like you may have bought the wrong tool for the job. There're lots of dedicated pedal board switching units available that simply do that and nothing else. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. Hi, ”rd2rk” did actually say:- “OR get a full-fat Helix” - which does have SPDIF as an option. Grab a copy of HX Native with the discount - end of problem!
  12. Short answer - Nope! Helix Native does not have any of the features of the hardware blocks such as Send/Return, FX Loop, Looper. They have no routing functionality in Helix Native. It's all documented in the Helix Native Pilots Guide v3.15 - Rev P - page 19 which you can find by clicking on the Question Mark Icon in the lower left of the GUI window of Native. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  13. Hi, O.K. Now I see what you are doing - I checked again. Following the procedures described in the Manual (i.e. Record, Stop, Playback, Overdub, UNDO, FULL, FWD/REV, ONCE) all work as expected. If you are recording a loop, and then without disengaging the recording process by hitting the Record button twice - (first to go to "Overdub In" while the LED is still flashing and then hit it a second time to switch to "Overdub Out" and both the LED and White Dot are greyed out), you simply hit the "ONCE" button whatever you play is recorded on top of the current loop. It seems the loop is still recording even while the display shows the Record LED is dimmed and overdub is set to OUT. Hmm.. Well, I'm not sure if that is a bug, or not using the Looper as expected, and it continues to overdub by being essentially "short circuited". If you want to report this as bug then you need raise a ticket with Customer Service, as Line 6 staff do not monitor these forums and will not be aware of it. The simple solution is, if you are doing it that way, do not to play anything while the "one shot" loop is playing back. Or, use the expected method of looping by doing what you describe as a "work around". Generally I only use the onboard looper for setting up tones so I don't have to keep on picking or strumming while balancing the other FX. I have 3 dedicated external Loopers all different for various other scenarios. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. Hi, Try as I might, I cannot recreate the described behaviour on my Helix Floor unit. It works exactly as I mentioned in my 2 previous posts in this thread. When weird stuff starts to happen - perform a Factory Reset on your hardware. You didn't say what HX unit you have, but you can find the full list of reset options here: Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. Hi, If this number (2.91) you refer to is the version of the firmware that is in your Helix LT, then usually I would advise updating to the latest version, just in case it is a glitch in the software causing this to happen. Although, as you are on tour at the moment, that would be a bad idea, because if anything should go wrong you would end up in an even worse situation. Also, in these type of situations, when things start to misbehave, it is a good idea to do a factory reset to try to clear any bugs. Once again, while you are on tour, this might not give you the result you need. I realise that the Helix LT is quite a financial investment, but as you are a touring/session musician, I would have thought that you would have a “fail safe” back up rig in the event of any equipment malfunctions. If you do have some reliable back up gear then you could try the fixes I mentioned above - if not, then sadly, you are stuck unless you are willing to risk trying a software fix. You do this at your own risk - no guarantee it will work. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: I also found this - not sure if this is relevant, but Google translate: Merhaba, Bahsettiğiniz bu sayı (2.91) Helix LT'nizde bulunan donanım yazılımının sürümüyse, bunun olmasına yazılımda bir aksaklık olması durumunda, genellikle en son sürüme güncellemenizi tavsiye ederim.
  16. Hi, The problem with your “C3” button could be a mechanical/electrical fault, although as you have only had your LT for 4 months it may just need cleaning, and it maybe the same thing with the tap tempo. Also, i found this, and it might be worth reading through the information given by “silverhead” in the link below, to see if it helps. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. I found this while I was downloading an update to an old soft synth (Podolski), not sure how relevant it is in your situation. The current version of Avid's toolkit for building AAX plug-ins is not compatible with the Apple SDK needed to build plug-ins for Apple's new ARM/M1 processors. We are therefore not able to provide updated AAX versions on macOS, neither for Intel CPUs, nor for Apple M1. If you're a Pro Tools user on macOS, please continue using the previous version of Podolski for the time being. Once the AAX toolkit supports Apple's M1 processor architecture, we will provide new AAX versions for macOS, with support for Big Sur and both Intel and Apple M1 CPUs. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  18. Hi, You can always continue to update the “live” version of your spreadsheet in Excel, but you also have the option to then export that file as a pdf. That should keep everyone happy! Yay! Hope this helps/makes sense. link: https://www.howtogeek.com/659219/how-to-save-an-excel-sheet-as-a-pdf/
  19. Hi, O.K. Try this. Open the preferences for GarageBand and under General -> Accessibility, uncheck the "Open plug-ins in Controls view by default” option. You may need to restart GB, but that should do it. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  20. Hi, if you managed to update your Firmware to 3.15 you must have used HX Edit to preform the procedure, which includes doing a backup of your hardware. The update Release notes for v3.15 states: If you're running HX Edit 3.01 or higher (released on Feb 2, 2021), just connect Helix/HX to your computer via USB and launch HX Edit. The software will walk you through the entire procedure, including backing everything up to your computer and updating both HX Edit and your Helix/HX firmware. If you're running an older version of HX Edit, you must update it before updating your Helix/HX hardware. Also it states: I updated but why don't I see [Model X]? HX Edit can't magically see new models added to your Helix/HX hardware; you must update HX Edit as well (which you would've done had you followed "How do I update to 3.15?" above). Here's a link to HX Edit 3.15: macOS: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=11009 Windows: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=1100 You mention that you are using a Mac, and my guess is that what is actually happening is you might be linking back to an alias of your previous copy of HX Edit. Either that, or you are using Firefox to download the update package. Sometimes when using Firefox, if it is allowed to handle the file unpacking it can be “confused’ with an earlier download and open the wrong version. If this is correct, alter your Firefox Prefs to make sure you are in control of the package download, or use Safari. Double check all your versions by doing a “get info” on all the files. Hope this helps/makes sense. There was this too.
  21. Hi, To save me from a lot of typing, please read my response and instructions in this thead: - link. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. That might be a question that needs to be raised with Avid - I had a quick look at their support section and I’m not sure if it is relevant, but I did see something about HD drivers needing to be updated to work correctly. I made me depressed, so I bailed out! LOL! Oh, yeah, GarageBand doesn’t have a mix window, it’s all there right in front of you. The truth is out there!
  23. You never know - the guy behind helixhelp.com might add it to his comprehensive list of stuff. Yay!
  24. Ah, you see, now you have created a resource which could be very helpful to some other Helix product users - or even users of the older M units from where the Legacy effects were derived. Didn't take very long either - well done.
  25. I'm going to guess that this is more to do with ProTools being temperamental with that awful AAX plug in thing that Avid uses. The easy way to check out if Native is functioning correctly is to open it up in GarageBand - it ships installed on every Mac. You could also download any of the freebie and or demo DAWs that are available and see if/how Native runs on them. You did get replies from other user's telling you that Helix Native works fine for them on their M1 Macs - They have no reason to try and deceive you. Anyhow - at the moment what you have is the demo - it is not a financial disaster, thus far it has cost you nothing but time. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: I just noticed that you have the Pro Tools Artist version. I'm not sure about this version, but IIRC ProTools First would NOT load any third party plugins that had not been download from Avid. Really - I don't like ProTools.
