With UBS connected, HX Stomp picking up all kinds of PC noise.
datacommando replied to RyanRC's topic in Helix
Hi, again, Just to clarify - Nobody is wanting, or trying to “bash” you on this, but saying the HX Stomp was designed incorrectly is just basically wrong - unless you can prove that, it’s just your opinion. You state that many people have similar experiences with the possible “ground loop” issue. Yet that doesn’t account for the very many happy users of the various Helix products, who don’t experience this problem, and yes - will say that it doesn’t happen to them. That’s just the way it is! You have tried various solutions to the “all kinds of hissing and other crazy noises back through to my amp”, without any acceptable result. Once again, you have only posted results that you have encountered while “testing” options in your own environment. Did you ever take the HX Stomp to your friends house, or in fact anywhere else, to check if the same problem still happens? Quote: “I picked up my first model device, a HX Stomp, a few weeks ago but have been too busy to play with it yet.” FYI: The unit is under warranty, and if it does not perform as expected, and is genuinely faulty, simply return it for a replacement. It maybe one rogue unit - it does happen! Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Wow, look at all those screamers. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Somebody is appears to be very upset, but the thing is, shouting and screaming in here doesn’t help your situation. There are no Line staff here, and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums!” The best solution to this is for you to contact Customer Support and raise a ticket. In fact - if this has happened previously, as you state in your post, what fixed the problem on that occasion? Try it again? Hope this helps/makes sense.

The best way to think about how the Helix functions, is when used to it’s full potential, it’s not like the amp in the room scenario, but it’s actually more like listening to a fully produced guitar tone in a studio control room. Now you have discovered stereo as it really is and can be used. Have fun.

Viewing Stomp/LT patches when I have an HX Effects
datacommando replied to dan-41hz's topic in Helix
Hi, Essentially- no, not with HX Edit - see HX Edit 3.15 Pilot’s Guide - Rev T - page 4 - Preset Compatibily. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f1049f61fd3077f0eca/application/pdf/HX Edit 3.15 Pilot's Guide - English .pdf File chopping is easy if you have a copy of Helix Native, it simply discards anything that isn’t relevant. However, there are some websites where you can upload the .hlx to view it’s settings. Here are a couple of examples. https://dbagchee.github.io/helix-preset-viewer/ Or https://sensationnel-gerard-26922.herokuapp.com/# Hope this helps/makes sense.- 1 reply

Hi, There is always "Customtone" - available from the menu at the top of this page - that's where the sharing happens. Although, be aware - not all to the creators of the patches would claim to be experts. Hope this helps/makes sense. P.S. You were replying to a post from from January 2018 and the guy who posted it has not left another comment since November 2019 - "Sad but true"

Helix 1/4" out out to monitors super low level? help a newbie out
datacommando replied to ididid's topic in Helix
Hi, Using two grands worth of Hi-Fi speaker system seems little over the top for listening to a guitar, but hey, each to their own. I would say that hooking up a Helix to these things could be potentially damaging. According to the KEF LS50II spec sheet, the RCA connectors are for Subwoofer output, not input. Other than that, the only way to get audio from your LT is via the Analogue 3.5mm Auxillary input on the rear of the speaker. You could try a 1/4" stereo to 3.5mm stereo lead from the Helix LT Headphone socket (Hmm...), or a Y cable with a stereo 3.5mm jack on one end (to the speaker) and a pair of mono jacks on the other from the Helix 1/4" out, but be very careful to make sure the level is matched to what your Hi-Fi expects to see (-10 or +4db). EDIT: STRIKE PREVIOUS COMMENT I guess that you may be referring to the older version of these speakers that do have RCA Analogue Line Level Inputs on the rear of the cabinet, in which case you could use a pair of 1/4" mono to RCA mono cables from the Helix 1/4" outputs set to lIne level in the Global Settings. https://www.amazon.com/JOLGOO-Stereo-Interconnect-6-35mm-Adapter/dp/B082X6F6S4/ref=sr_1_4?crid=100JNMC1UT7M0&keywords=1%2F4"mono%2Bto%2BRCA%2Bplug%2Bcable%2Bpair&qid=1660744636&sprefix=1%2F4%2Bmono%2Bto%2Brca%2Bplug%2Bcable%2Bpair%2Caps%2C125&sr=8-4&th=1 Or possibly a 1/4" stereo to 2 RCA plug cable, from the headphone out. https://www.amazon.com/MOSWAG-Gold-Plated-6-35mm-Splitter-Connector/dp/B09GFFNVJC/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1TJ2B4OYDF4B6&keywords=1%2F4"+stereo+to+2+RCA+plug+cable&qid=1660744525&sprefix=1%2F4+stereo+to+2+rca+plug+cable%2Caps%2C326&sr=8-4 Anyhow, as you stated that you have used USB on your the Helix LT to record into your Mac - have you then tried streaming the audio from the Mac to your speakers? That should do it - the Mac has Bluetooth. Even better - buy some cheap dedicated monitors so that you don't wind up frying your Hi-Fi. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Helix suddenly no longer working Win 11
datacommando replied to frodebassist's topic in Helix Native
Hi, I noticed that you also asked for help with this issue over on the GP Community forum. In those posts you say that it still works on your desktop Window PC machine. As Native hasn’t changed, and you already have v4.5.8 Gig Performer running on you desktop, I would tend to suspect something on your laptop has screwed up. I’m a Mac pilot, so I can’t assist you any more than that, but as you noted over in the GP forum, try a re-install of Windows on you laptop. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, You could simply use the “File -> Extract Files From Backup” feature, which was added to HX Edit in one of the more recent updates. You can’t extract individual presets, but you can extract an entire setlist, which places all individual preset files (*.hlx) into a single folder. Then you can then drag and drop the preset that was overwritten back into HX Edit. Done! You do have a back up, don’t you? Hope this helps/makes sense.

I always do this, and that is almost everyday. It allows you to change your mind. You may think you have the perfect take, but in the rush to capture the audio you later realise that the delay or reverb is a little to prominent - it’s a simple fix. Or you can replay the performance through a completely different rig. Just note what the others have said about capturing MIDI data for Snapshots, Wah etc. Oh, yeah! Jason has a video covering both Native and hardware re-amping. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, It has been asked before and the short answer is - no! Having said that, the excellent Steve Sterlacci strikes again with a work around of opening both devices and duplicating the settings from the Go preset across to the HX Stomp. Here’s a video. Check this thread also, if you fancy editing JSON files. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Everything you need to know about creating and editing playlists can be found on pages 13-1t5 of the HX Edit 3.15 Pilot’s Guide, that can be found by clicking on the “question mark” icon in the lower left of the GUI window, or this link here: https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f1049f61fd3077f0eca/application/pdf/HX Edit 3.15 Pilot's Guide - English .pdf As you’re new to this, you may find it useful to check out the HX Stomp 3.0 Owner’s Manual - here: https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a418962611d636e7c51b/application/pdf/HX Stomp 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev D - English .pdf I realise that some people are offended by being directed to the owner’s manuals, but it’s a good idea. “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Hi, A lot of people are easily offended by my next comment, but it is actually meant to be helpful. As a newcomer to the world of Helix, you can really help yourself by reading the Helix LT 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Rev D - English https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f18374611d5dffd3a45/application/pdf/Helix LT 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev D - English .pdf On pages 13 - 15 you can find the information regarding Presets, Setlists and Footswitches The “Manual” is your friend. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, You really should read the Helix Native 3.15 Pilot’s Guide, available by clicking on the question mark icon, in the lower left of the GUI window. On page 48 you will find this explanation:- Split Crossover: Splits the audio content so that treble frequencies are sent to Path A, and bass frequencies are sent to Path B (or the path routing is reversed when Reverse is On). Use the Frequency parameter to set the center frequency; Any signal above this frequency is sent to Path A, and any signal below this frequency is sent to Path B Split Dynamic: Similar to a crossover, except the audio content above the audio Threshold is sent to Path A, and the content below the audio Threshold is sent to Path B (or the path routing is reversed when Reverse is On). Attack determines how fast the signal routes to Path B once reaching the Threshold, and Release determines how fast the signal returns to Path A once falling below the Threshold. Typically, higher values result in a smoother transition. Oh, lucky you - I just did all that for you, but read it all the same - you never know what you might discover next. Hope this helps/makes sense

If you meant to reference this video - it’s still studio trickery, video studio trickery just the same. I really admire Mr. Vai and Heavy Devvy, but once again, nothing new here as far as a music promo video. The Beatles were doing this sort of stuff with film, way back in 1967. Maybe the OP should buy an E-Bow.

With UBS connected, HX Stomp picking up all kinds of PC noise.
datacommando replied to RyanRC's topic in Helix
Hi, I don't know how, or why, it is that you seem to think you’ve upset us, or how we’ve offended you in some way. As always, people in here have simply been trying to assist you with the ground loop issue that you appear to have discovered when you connected your new HX Stomp to the rest of your gear. You seem to have misunderstood what we have been saying about the “all kinds of hissing and other crazy noises” - it is nothing to do with the audio interface part of your HX Stomp. It’s more likely electro-magnetic interference, and that could be due to myriad other reasons. In fact you have already proved this for yourself when you state: “I tried plugging the HX into my laptop and with out the charger connected it made zero noise.” Then:- “When I plugged the charger in it made the same noises and in the same way, but much much less. So I guess the issue is in part with my power being supplied…” That alone should demonstrate that the HX Stomp was not working as an audio interface in that situation. In your original post, you said that you intended to visit someones house and take your guitar and the HX. Did you do that, and did you also experience that same issues there? Have you tried to use the HX Stomp without connecting it to the computer - simply using your amp? If so, do you still have the noise problem? My guess it's an issue with your computer. Check back when you have tried the USB filter. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: Don't drink and drive! -
With UBS connected, HX Stomp picking up all kinds of PC noise.
datacommando replied to RyanRC's topic in Helix
Hi, again, Just to clarify what you're saying - if you have your HX stomp, hooked up to your computer to use HX Edit, for example, then you encounter all this audio interference, humming, hissing etc. Correct? And now, because of this, you seem to have a downer on ever being able to use the HX Stomp with your computer, simply as a consequence of the spurious audio noise. Hmm, well that's a strange way to look at it, especially when you consider how many units of this type that Line 6 have sold, and how many people are quite happy to use the hardware in exactly the way it has been designed to work. It strikes me as very odd that interwebs are not alive with people complaining that these boxes cause audio interference and are thus making them totally unusable. These products are sold as being "fit for purpose" - and they work just fine. The issue with Ground loops, is that your HX Stomp may not be the cause, but has simply brought the issue to the fore. See linked video below - this guy doesn't even have a HX Stomp, his problem is with his mixer. I bought my Helix floor back in November 2015, and it has been in almost daily use ever since. It is constantly connected to my Mac via USB, along with these "always on" items:- approx 15TB of external hard drive storage, a 500GB SSD, a DVD Writer, an Arturia KeyLab 61 MIDI keyboard, a Behringer XTouch Universal MIDI Controller, a Laser printer and a Canon Pixma Pro 100S photo printer. Have I ever experienced crackles, pops, buzzes, clicks. fizzing or any type of audio interference? No, never, not once. Why? Because, I have clean mains power and filtered distribution on the supply with no ground loops. Yes, the Helix is being used as my main audio interface (previously used Focusrite Saffire on FireWire for many years), but I can switch the Mac to use it's internal processor and playback through the iMac built in speakers, while still being able to use HX Edit over USB - again with no detriment to any audio signals. I seriously recommend that you invest in a USB Ground Loop Isolator, and failing that have a qualified electrician check you domestic wiring. Hope this helps/makes sense -

datacommando replied to RyanRC's topic in Helix
Hi, Let’s face it - anyone with a HX product is more than likely going to plug it into a computer, not just for the editing and librarian functions, but also for the firmware updates. Surprisingly, most don’t suffer from the issue that you currently have. I’m also intrigued by your comment - “fixed audio interface”? Yeah, it’s in the hardware, but you don’t have to use it. Many people use the HX built in USB audio interface, while others may choose to take the audio out to some other AI device (Focusrite, Universal Audio, etc.), and have no problem with hum. Usually these instances of “ground loop hum” a can be traced back to bad wiring, and/or dirty domestic power supply. You actually mention, “As far as the house wiring I certainly do have all manor of things not only plugged into several outlets in this area, but then also broken off into many power strips as well.”. From that information I would expect some type of interference if your power supply isn’t clean. Oh, yeah - fluorescent lights can be a total nightmare, along with dimmer switches, freezers etc. You may need to try one of these. https://ifi-audio.com/products/idefender-plus/ Hope this helps makes sense. -
Help!!! MeloAudio Exp-001 expression pedal problem with HX STOMP!!!
datacommando replied to Santisandoval89's topic in Helix
Hi, Over on the manufacturer’s web site it says that the pedal is compatible, but in the comments there is one guy says it works perfectly and another says not! https://meloaudio.com/products/meloaudio-exp-001-foot-wah-volume-expression-guitar-pedal-for-guitar-bass-players There really should be a “sticky” thread for this thing about expression pedals and Line 6 hardware. Check the date on these threads. https://line6.com/support/topic/15999-external-expression-pedal-calibration/ Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, One thing that I figured out is that list is from the York Audio MRSH 412 T75 Premium Impulse pack @ $14.99 and all model packs come with a manual: https://www.yorkaudio.co/product-page/mrsh-412-t75 Quote from their FAQ Page: ”The manual to every product includes a list of all multi-mic mixes with the mics used for each mix. Mixes were given numbers to keep the file names shorter. Use what sounds good to you” My bet would be that the 57 is a reference to the ubiquitous Shure SM57 mic. You are asking the question in the wrong forum. If you want to know what the abbreviations mean - ask York Audio or RTM! Hope this help/makes sense (but probably not!)
