  1. Hi, A couple of points - you really don’t need to check here for “random updates”. Essentially this Is the last place to hear about Firmware updates - TGP is the place for that sort of thing. If you have the latest version of HX Edit installed on your MacBook, while you are connected to the internet, it will check for any updates that become available. Plus, HX Edit should then take care of any download, and the installation of all software - including the Updater app - required to update your hardware. This all works in the background and is supposed to make everyone’s lives easier, with less of those “Update bricked my Helix” posts from people who don’t follow installation instructions. The only time that you would specifically need to use the Line 6 Updater utility is if you suffer a failure of the automatic firmware installation and you have to put the hardware into “Safe Boot” mode to fix it. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  2. Just you dude. No Line 6 staff are monitoring this forum, so you need to post your “request” to the Line 6. IdeaScale available here: https://line6.ideascale.com/c/campaigns/51424/stage/all/ideas/unspecified Make sure that no one else is asking for the same thing or you will water down the vote. Oh, yeah - don’t hold your breath waiting for your “idea” to be included in the next update. There are far bigger things in progress for v.3.20, which will entail another big change to the Core operating system in the Helix family. If you really want a Chimera, go buy one - end of problem. You buy the Helix/HX thing for what it can do now, not what you hope it will be. I have been driving the Helix Floor since 2015 and it is a world away from the box of tricks I bought way back then. Stick around, it gets better! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. Hi, I don’t think there is in the scenario that you describe. I think it would be easier to duplicate the preset with the Amp+Cab, and then proceed to edit by deleting the Amp+Cab block and replacing it with an Amp along with an IR block. You can then cross reference the two options to see which is the better. Note: I always keep a notepad and pen close to hand for jotting down relevant parameter settings. It can save a lot of grief, as bouncing from one preset to another is annoying if you forget to save at any stage. I understand what you mean when you say “exploring ideas”, but a little planning never goes amiss. It helps to have a result in mind rather than blindly thrashing around. I have stacks of “sketch pad ideas” stored in my Helix. The trick then is to assemble the various bits and get them to work together. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  4. Hi, When your hardware starts to behave oddly in any way, the first thing to do is perform a Factory Reset. Find the full list of options here. https://helixhelp.com/tips-and-guides/universal/reset-options Hope this helps/makes sense.
  5. Hi From the HX Stomp 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev D - English, page 32. IR Formats For all Helix/HX family devices, as well as Helix Native plugin, the following IR file types are supported. Helix Impulse Response (.hir) - This is the proprietary Line 6 IR file format. All IRs purchased through the Line 6 Marketplace are of this file type—see “Marketplace” on page 5. WAV (.wav) - Most IR producers and vendors typically offer IRs within the .wav format. It is possible to import a mono or stereo .wav file IR, regardless of its bit depth, length, or sample rate frequency. Upon import, IR .wav files are automatically converted to 48kHz sample rate, 32-bit, mono, and 2,048 sample length for Helix. You can use the HX Edit app’s Preferences to set the preferred behavior for importing Stereo https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a418962611d636e7c51b/application/pdf/HX Stomp 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev D - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  6. Hi, Well, you have absolutely nothing to worry about - it is covered by warranty. Simply have it exchanged for one that does work. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  7. Hi, Straight answer - version 2 Like most other things in here, that orange banner of the top of the page is not fully up to date. AFAIK, the version 3.15 update to the firmware fixed the Monterey issues, as noted in a comment from Digital Igloo over on TGP. As for up to date you will see from the “sticky” at the top of this forum, the last time Eric posted a new thread was January 2018 for v 1.50 Native Release Notes. Line 6 staff rarely post here, mainly TGP and the Facebook Family thing. If you really need answers from them - check those places. Here’s a link to a thread which has posts from happy OS Monterey jockeys who are no longer needing to use the Rosetta workaround. Although, as you already own Helix Native, simply load it up and test it yourself. Surely that should be definitive enough to be convincing. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  8. Hi, I was not recommending that you change your workflow from Ableton Live to another DAW as a full time thing. What I was suggesting was to try using the Helix Native plug-in with one of the many free, or demo, versions of another DAW. This would simply give you a better idea of the situation - i.e. if Native functions as expected in Reason, for example, then maybe this could be an indication that the problem is not necessarily with Native, but more possibly with the version of Ableton. It’s simply a process of elimination, trying to isolate the issue. Weird things like this can be tricky to pin down. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: Possible solution- Check the follow up response in the other thread that you posted to.
  9. Hi Andrew, I spotted your other post which mentions Ableton Live, therefore if you read trough the responses and you’re not suffering from the “Micro SD Card” issue, then the problem may well be the DAW. Have you tried to load Native in another DAW? Here’s a link to the SD Card solution provided by “Camelot” Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. Hi, Huh? My comment is from a completely different discussion two years earlier than this thread, and has no connection to Helix violin players AFAIK. I'm not sure how, or why, I was quoted in this thread, but it did make me look? Judging from the amount of responses since the original first post back in June 2021, it doesn't appear to be a hot topic. Although there is at least one bassoon player who posts in here occasionally, so I wouldn't be surprised at anything that happens in here. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. Oops! I forgot that the Helix Rack doesn’t have the “test” feature- only the Floor an LT models. Even if the Rack had the test, I’m not sure if it would have helped your random audio changes. Here is a link to a video which shows what tests can be done on the Helix Floor. Glad you managed to get your Rack unit working properly. Have fun.
  12. Hi, From the 3.15 Release Notes: Operation—Determines what happens to your signal when Ratchet is turned on (remember, it's bypassed by default) "Mute All"—When Ratchet is on, THE ENTIRE PATH IS MUTED "Dry Kill"—When Ratchet is on, only the effected signal is heard. TIP: With Ratchet on a parallel path, assign a second stomp switch to toggle between Mute All and Dry Kill. This lets you leave the block enabled and bring the effected signal in and out by switching between the two values "Normal" (default)—When Ratchet is on, both the dry and effected signals are heard In the “Know Issues” section: When Delay > Tesselator and Ratchet's Operation is set to "Mute All," the entire path is muted, regardless of whether the block is active or bypassed Hope this helps/makes sense.
  13. Straight answer - from the Helix Native download page: Compatible OS: Mac OS X, macOS Sierra, macOS High Sierra, macOS Mojave, macOS Catalina, macOS Big Sur, macOS Monterey Still unsure - Simple solution - download the free demo and test it on your Mac. Lots of happy users out there. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. Wow! that is expensive. When I was a lot younger in the late 1960s, I was fortunate enough to know Allan Holdsworth when he was first starting out. He was the guitar player in a local band - we all used to drink in the same bar. Allan replaced another friend of mine, Pete, in a band named "Museum", and then some time later they both turned up on the same day for the audition with Colosseum. When Pete got to the stage door, he could recognise Allan's playing and thought he should not bother to try out for the gig, and went to the bar across the street. After his session Allan also went into the same bar. When he saw Pete, and he said that he should go and try out for it. Needless, to say Pete decided not to go for it, so they both decided to get drunk. Allan got the job and the rest is history. Sadly both these guys are gone now. Here's link to Museum with a picture of Allan circa 1967. https://www.zanywoodruff.com/related-bands/the-museum-1967/
  15. Allan Holdsworth’s SynthAxe was up for sale - it’s sold now, but quite possibly it was the wrong price for you. Crazy money! https://reverb.com/uk/item/1882073-allan-holdsworths-synthaxe-used-on-every-record-since-atavacron-1986
  16. Hi, In any situation where things do not work as expected, or you experience any other weird things happening with your hardware - perform a factory reset. If you still experience abnormal behaviour with the unit, re-flash the firmware and follow the instructions precisely. All reset options for your Helix Rack can be found here: https://helixhelp.com/tips-and-guides/universal/reset-options Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. That's the way some bugs behave - intermittent. It has been mentioned on other discussion groups (FarceBuck Family for example) - it has been noted as a bug.
  18. Hi, Other options? Well, none here, this is a user group that deals with general minor issues. In the other thread where you got the video, there is a response from “psarkissian”, who is a Line 6 service engineer, and he stated:- “Log a Support ticket in your account. That will have to be serviced.” I cannot understand why Customer Support said they couldn’t help you at the moment. Their job is to support the customer. There must be more to it than that. That answer makes absolutely no sense at all. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. Hi, You say that you installed the v3.15 firmware update, but you did not say if you followed the installation notes that state you should make a backup of your Helix prior to the update, then after it completes, you should perform a factory reset, and then restore from the backup. In any situation where things do not work as expected, or you experience any other weird things happening with your hardware - perform a factory reset. If you still experience abnormal behaviour with the unit, re-flash the firmware and follow the instructions precisely. Essentially you are dealing with a computer and software- it’s very rare that a software update will brick your hardware. It all lights up - quite possibly a it’s just a glitch! Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: I have just seen your post in the thread where that video was originally posted. If you have tried all the usual methods to fix this issue, without success, then you need to raise a ticket with Support, as suggested in the other thread.
  20. It would appear from your screenshot that the version of Helix Native in your VST3 folder has not been updated, as indicated by the date created/modified time stamp of 11th August 2017 at 12.39am. I suggest that you need to remove the older installation completely then do a clean install of the latest version: For a full run down of how to do this - please read the details supplied by “guilhermebreda” in this thread from the Helix Native forum on here, posted February 18th. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  21. Hi, AFAIK, the only member of the Helix range of products that has “word clock” functionality is the Helix Rack unit. It would appear that with the other models, you should connect the SPDIF on both the Helix, and whatever the master clock unit is, and set them to the same sample rate. As this is simply a user group, you may need to raise a ticket with Customer Support for a definitive answer to the sync issue. Hope this helps/makes sense
  22. Hi, As you note - that is the main input impedance setting for your guitar into the Stomp. The impedance for the SEND/RETURN block is set in the Global Preferences on your HX Stomp. You can set it for either “Inst”, or “Line”. Quote from the HX Stomp 3.0. Owner’s Manual - page 51. ”Choose “Inst[rument]” when using a Send/Return pair as an FX loop for stompboxes; choose “Line” when using a Send/Return pair as an FX loop for line-level rack processors or as additional inputs and outputs for connecting keyboards, drum machines, mixers, and other gear.” Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. Hi, First thing to check is that the SEND/RETURN block on the HX Stomp impedance matches what your BOSS RC is expecting to see, i.e. guitar input (1MΩ) - “Inst”. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. Hi, There was an issue that some Mac users were using Firefox to download the installer files and then Firefox would for some reason open an older version that was still in the download cache. If you use Firefox to download your files, when the alert pops up asking - "What should Firefox do with this file", click the radio button "Save File" - DO NOT let it make the decision about handling the unpacking of the files. You can download using Safari without this happening, or try another browser Hope this helps/makes sense.
  25. Double check your HX Edit and Firmware installation versions are the same, as mentioned by "silverhead" in the post above. After updating to v3.15 did you perform a Factory Reset and Restore from Back-up as instructed in the installation notes? When weird, and/or, unexpected stuff starts to happen do a Factory Reset. Hope this helps/makes sense.
