  1. Hmm…. Well, I’m a Mac Pilot and I guess you’re using Windows, so here are a couple of things that may help. Change USB Root Hub Settings and/or Change USB Selective Suspended Settings For more details check items #3 and #6 in this link: https://www.softwaretestinghelp.com/usb-device-not-recognized-error/
  2. Uh? No, I set this up real quick to split left and right and straight to your 1/4” main audio outputs. The only thing on the right hand path is the Triangle Fuzz, and likewise the Teemah on the left. Both path are stereo with mono drive blocks, so if you want to add a Send/Return block to one, or both paths after the distortion it should be fine. That’s why I said “If I understand correctly”, because your initial post made it appear you were passing the signal straight through the HX Effects to the Boss FV to the 2 amp model in the Humbolt which handled the delay and verb FX, but you unable split the path for the drive and fuzz to go to separate outputs then into the Simplifier. You didn’t mention using Send/Return FX Loops in the HX. Easy enough for you to modify the preset as required, I guess (I use a Helix floor not HX FX). Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. Mmm… yes, that wouldn’t be good, especially if you had mistakenly plugged in a “charge only” USB cable that didn’t have the facility to transfer data. Oh, how foolish would you feel then. Not all USB cables are the same, even though the may look identical.
  4. Hi, I would guess that, like most of the other Line 6 “Backstage” events, it will end up on UChoob after the livestream.
  5. Hi, I have to agree with the other 2 comments above - maybe time to move on from these guys. They must have pretty poor recording techniques if they cannot get the Stomp and a Fremen preset sounding good. In fact, if it is an issue with that particular preset patch, they should have taken a DI of your clean signal and simply re-amped that until they were happy. Poor workmen blame the tools - I would be tempted to give them a big squirt of bullsh!t repellent. Oh, yeah - you already stated that you were happy with the results of the previous session, and I guess you are paying them to get the result you want.
  6. Hi, That’s true, but IIRC the “twist” effect was created on the original Space Echo by manipulating both the the speed and intensity to create the oscillation and pitch shift craziness. I haven’t felt the need for any dub style echo recently, but you could try assigning the Note Sync (Speed) and Feedback (Intensity) to an expression pedal. Possibly, that way you can recreate the “twist” by pushing forward on the pedal to achieve the desired weirdness, by increasing the feedback and time. Warning - be very careful when messing with this kind of stuff as it could make the earth wobble off it’s axis. Just experiment, you aren’t going to chew up any tape! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  7. Hi, If I understand correctly, you want to split your guitar input so that you have a Teemah in the left channel and a Fuzz in the right hand channel? I would guess that simply splitting the input into parallel paths is what you need, as explained in the Owner's Manual Page 36 "Parallel Path Routing" Try this quick and dirty example to see if it is what you are try to achieve. Teemah > Left - Triangle Fuzz > Right each going to relative 1/4" outs HXFX L&R OUT.hlx Hope this helps/makes sense.
Hello, I just checked and the driver download works for me. Try this: From the link: https://line6.com/software/index.html From "Choose Hardware", scroll down to select your hardware device: - Helix, Helix LT, HX Effects, HX Stomp, or XT. Under "Choose Software", scroll to select Drivers Under "Choose operating system," select the operating system for your Mac or PC. Then click the "Go" button and select your driver by clicking the big blue "GET DOWNLOAD" button which takes you to the EULA page. Just click "ACCEPT AND DOWNLOAD". The driver should now start to download to your computer, where you can then install the driver and reboot your PC. Hope this helps makes sense.
  9. Oh, now I understand - you are Devin Townsend.
  10. Ye gods! I have run out of "forum reactions" for today - Here I am, like John Wayne with an empty gun. Big grins should be added to all the replies posted by the regular team players. You know who you are. ;)
  11. Damn - I've used up all my "forum reactions" for today (must be having too much fun) - but your reply made me grin.
  12. Ah, this looks like you have bought into the digital modelling world without any real background of how to make it all to work for you. A little like buying a plane without having any flying lessons I know most people don't like to hear this, but the owner's manual is a great place to start. Also it might be easier just to follow along with someone walking through it all in a video - this guy is highly recommended as a place to start. Work your way through them. Or try this from around 10:50 Hope this help/makes sense.
  13. Oh, yeah - FYI - if, and when, I ever feel the need to go all retro - then this is the Vocoder that I use. https://www.arturia.com/products/analog-classics/vocoder-v/overview Here's a good free Choir complete with adjustable vowel sounds.
  14. Really? O.K. You don’t have to shout, and you don’t need to repeat anything, because I’m fully aware of what a formant is and what FX are - Dude! Actually, what your reply shows, is you don’t bother to read what someone points you towards. If you had, then you would have gone to the thread that contained the comment from Digital Igloo regarding formant filters, and exactly why they are NOT included in Helix. I will post the link again - hopefully it will sink in this time. I usually say hope this makes sense, but in your case I’ll make an exception because I know it won’t.
  15. I’m surprised that you don’t recall asking a very similar question way back at the end of 2018 In that thread you were directed to a link, which contained a post from Digital Igloo (Eric Klein, Chief Product Design Architect at Yamaha Guitar Group, Inc. / Line 6 / Ampeg) As it appears that you may have forgotten - the quote from DI was: ”At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Helix was designed to act as the centerpiece of one's rig; it was not designed to replace every component in someone's rig. If a formant filter is mission crucial, we've provided multiple ways to incorporate it into Helix's signal flow.” Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. Dig deeper - work it out with a pencil. ;-)
  17. I would have gone for Doric - a much less ornate column. ;-)
  18. Nah! That’s just a cheap imitation. ;-)
  19. QUESTION: Ye gods - do people never read the posts in this forum, before asking ridiculous questions that have been done to death, over and over again. This horse is well and truly deceased, and this is becoming tedious. Try asking your question over on TGP and await the collective groan!
  20. Really? First post - I would say, you’re a little late to this party, . You missed most of the fun on this one - just wait till it starts all over again ;-) Soon!
  21. Setlist, Preset, and Snapshot Recall via MIDI - page 58 - HELIX NATIVE Pilot’s Guide Rev O - v.3.10 Click on the “question mark” icon in the lower left of the GUI window and select “Pilot’s Guide”. Also: ”NOTE - AU and AAX Plugin Formats Only: At this time, remote MIDI control of setlist and preset changes is supported only with the AU (Mac) and Pro Tools AAX (Mac and Windows) Helix Native plugin formats. It is not supported for the VST2 or VST3 Helix Native plugin formats on Mac or Windows.” Also, note that Setlist and Preset changes performed via MIDI PC/CC messages are not supported by Undo and will clear the current Undo history ————————————————— Suggestion: If you wish to change to another preset in another setlist, simple create a duplicate audio track with an instance of Native set to the actual preset you require and use the automation functions within your DAW to switch between the two. You don’t need to switch everything inside one instance of Native. You can open as many instances of Helix Native as your computer can handle. It appears that you are trying to use Native in the same manner as you would use Helix hardware which is not always necessary when dealing with recorded material. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. Hi, I’m not sure if I understand correctly what you are wanting to do, but if you check the HX Stomp XL Owner’s Manual pages 9 - 11, there are several diagrams showing various methods of hooking up your equipment. You could have your guitar > L/MONO IN with your mandolin > RETURN L or R, the OUT Left to your amp and OUT Right to FOH. I guess that would work, give it a try. 23. Uh? The ability to record fully processed, and dry signals simultaneously is great - processed stereo on USB1&2, dry mono on USB7. Using your Helix as an audio interface also removes an extra stage of digital to analog and analog to digital conversion. You don’t mention what AI you are using for recording, but unless it is something outrageously expensive and/or exotic (Universal Audio Apollo, MOTU for example), then Helix gets the job done - simple. Caveat: yes I do have a cheapo Behringer U-Phoria UMC204HD gathering dust in the corner - just in case, but not needed it so far. I have used both Helix floor and Native, with Logic Pro, on an almost daily basis since I bought my Helix in late 2015 (Native arrived later, obviously). I also updated to a new Mac at that time, which led to me disposing of my “old faithful” Focusrite Saffire interface, as FireWire was no longer supported by the Mac. Helix is a great 8 channel alternative via USB. My powered Tannoy Reveal 8” monitors are connected to the Helix XLR output so I have zero latency. As mentioned by “silverhead” in the above post, the direct injected dry audio can then be run through Native using different presets without having to reconfigure your Helix hardware to re-amp the audio. Helix is not just for recording guitars. It can work with drum machines, synths, vocal, whatever else you require with or without effects. Although, in the end it’s up to you how you wish to go about getting audio in and out of your DAW. Hope this helps/makes sense
  24. Je suis content d'avoir pu aider. Il est bon de savoir que tout fonctionne comme il se doit. Profitez de votre nouveau jouet.
  25. When I first started to mess around with guitars in the mid to late 1960s it was with an old beat up Eastern European Tatra jumbo acoustic from a pawn shop. There was nothing particularly good about it, but I managed to level the frets and get the action a little better and start off with an attempt at finger picking folk tunes (I was an art student at the time so this was normal). I later got a Japanese copy of a Les Paul and an very old Selmer 50w amp. The only thing between the amp and guitar was a cable! Nothing else. Let's face it, thats the way the old blues men started and that 's how it was back then. I started to learn how those guys managed to get their sound - change the tuning and use a pocket knife or the neck of a beer bottle as a slide. It must have been a couple of years, or more, before i got my first wah pedal and fuzz box. Don't get me wrong, I love this technology and buying a kidney bean POD, when they first arrived, was a revelation - how could all that be in one tiny box? Then I moved to the POD XT Live, then the HD500 and now, of course, the Helix. Nowadays, I have a bunch of different guitars - electric, acoustic, nylon, resonator, a couple of Variax, plus mandolin, banjo, autoharp and a whole heap of synthesisers and FX. I suppose being an older person gave me the grounding in basics, mainly because there was no alternative. The Beatles started out with essentially no effects, Rickenbacker guitars and Vox amps, Clapton had the Les Paul and a Marshall. It was a whole different world back then, effects were "special" and applied in the studio by a trained engineer. Stuff you could simply plug your guitar into were very rare, and there was a rumour that Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck shared the first Tone Bender fuzz box . I remember my best friend buying an amp with a built in reverb, then added a tape echo - it was astonishing. Ye gods, can you imagine what Jimi Hendrix would have made of the Helix? He might have gone down the rabbit hole too. Maybe I'm just getting too old, but some of the requests for the more esoteric boutique amps are beyond me, there are only so many variations of amp design. The basic amp is still using tech from the middle of the last century, similarly so are most guitars which have ultimately been derived from Lester's "log".
