  1. Here are the release notes. This is the info referring to older firmware: My Helix/HX is at version X.XX. Can I go straight to 3.11? Absolutely, but note that if you're starting with a version lower than 2.80, the update will appear to happen twice. This is normal. It also helpful to know exactly what computer and OS you are using when asking for assistance. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  2. No, it’s not too old - theoretically you can update from any earlier versions of the firmware although there was a major change to the Core operating system in the Helix family of products at v2.80. It was like a brain transplant and lots of people managed to screw up the install and then scream that the update had bricked their hardware. You may see the “Boot Failure” message, but don’t panic this is expected behaviour as the Core is swapped. Do not simply and randomly download firmware without reading and familiarising yourself with all the Release Notes for the updates. If you are simply trying to force this stuff into the LT you will simply make things worse. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. Hi, When the installation finished, your LT should have automatically rebooted and rebuilt the presets, which updates them to the latest version. If not - do it now. It is also advisable to perform a factory reset when things do not work as expected. 4. Hmm… also not sure. I know mine are all good and I always have cable tester on hand to check any suspect cables. You possibly need to verify they are functioning correctly using something like this. https://www.studiospares.com/studiospares-ultimate-cable-tester_458260.htm?gclid=CjwKCAjw2bmLBhBREiwAZ6ugow_nTTuzC8NXQHs65xa101tHGKYRxXH8PP1NjOdN4BDss28VVEqYjBoC1P4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Not sure what else to suggest right now - it almost midnight here - time to sleep, and think some more later.
  5. Hi, This is not something that I have encountered with a similar setup. I have Helix USB in/out to Mac, Helix XLR out to XLR in on Tannoy Reveal monitors. The monitors are usually already on line when the Helix fires up and I’m not aware of a scary “pop” - The Helix starts up so quickly that I can be noodling around on the guitar as the Mac is still booting up. Does this “pop” occur if you have the volume down on the Helix until it is fully booted up - maybe a volume surge? I hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: If you are sending audio to the PC over USB what is the function of the S/PDIF connection?
  6. I just did, and rather than falling down the rabbit hole, I found this: https://repair.eu/news/the-new-iphone-13-comes-with-bad-news-for-third-party-repairs/ Apple has decided to stop people replacing a damaged screen, even if it is a genuine Apple part, by having the iPhone detect if it is being installed by an Apple authorised repairer. If not it will switch off Face ID. Mmm… interesting!
  7. It's bad enough with the usual "update bricked my Helix" crowd, which should be regarded as a generally simple software installation. Imaging the chaos that would ensue if you let people poke around the innards of the darn thing! The tweakers and circuit benders will always attempt to do it anyway, and that's fine, but Joe Public - nah! It would be like giving a monkey a loaded gun - and who would be cleaning up afterwards?
  8. Yeah, I guess he is actually full of good intentions and he is entitled to his opinions - it could be the way he chooses to deliver them - YouTube videos. That would leave anyone open to derision and ridicule - e.g him being referred to as “chucklehead” during the famous Fractal debacle. He strikes me as the sort of guy with far too much money and time on his hands, who has decided the internet could make him the star that he believes he is. Good luck to him if he is in the situation where he can buy this stuff and dissect it on video. It’s just that he doesn’t really give me the impression that he genuinely knows what he is taking about, but hey! Anyhow, I must congratulate you on being, possibly, the only one to endure one of his videos in full. Maybe his positive review of the Helix was in recompense for his previous trashing of a Line 6 product. I did note that his scathing 4 part video on the HD500 is now deleted apart from the first episode. On his website he says it attracted far too much hate mail. Mmm… video star - be careful what you wish for Mr. McKenzie Ah! The Helix equivalent of the Hackintosh. I can hardly wait. ;-)
  9. Ye gods! Is this lunatic still on the loose? He has a really good way of upsetting lots of people. Here’s a sample from Harmony Central when he did a “review” of the Line 6 HD500 https://www.harmonycentral.com/forums/topic/1534841-an-idiot-demos-the-line-6-hd500/ He didn’t make many friends over in Fractal land either- Cliff is not a huge fan of the guy. Oh, yeah, and Kemper - in fact, way back he gave the Eleven Rack a good kicking too. He is a legend in his own mind. Do a little research on him - he has lots of websites under various names. Oh, dear - not really a great example of opening a Helix - although, at least he knew his warranty was void by doing it. I really thought I had seen the last of the “cat in the hat”. Got to stop now my sides are aching!
  10. Re-install all of the software for firmware update version 3.11 and it should work. The "question marks" are also over some of the effects in your screen shot. If you do not see the amp and model effects make sure you are running the correct versions of all the software.
  11. Hi Claus, It is an exceptionally strange issue and not one I have seen before. In this case I would strongly suggest that you re-install the latest firmware to see if it solves the problem.
  12. Hi, I had a look and it seems to stop at v2.8, but Helix Help always seems to be current. https://helixhelp.com/models?categoryId=0 Hope this helps/makes sense.
  13. Yeah - right. Keep thinking - it’s not going to happen with the current hardware. Even if it was a possibility, have you considered the cost implications, and that is providing you could find someone able to supply a suitable chip. If you hadn’t noticed there is a bit of a crisis at the moment, even Apple are struggling to get supplies. There is some information around here, or you could even use Google, to find just how much R&D time went into producing what we have now. Meanwhile, if you want to expand your DSP stick a couple of HX Stomps in the Send/Return loops - not cheap but guaranteed to work and possibly easier solution. Another option, Helix Native running on a powerful computer, and a 10 foot-switch MIDI controller. Native is only limited to the amount of processing muscle in your computer. Have you considered that you may have bought the wrong product for the job. Unless you really are into circuit bending you shouldn’t need to butcher the hardware - you could simply buy a Quad Cortex as that appears to be what you are wanting to achieve. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. Hi, That’s very strange, it should be possible to swap snapshots just like presets. Possibly a factory reset might blow the bugs out. See the reply from “HonestOpinion” post 7 in this thread where he gives an example of using HX Edit to move the snapshots. Hope this helps/makes sense. Reset Options Helix Floor/LT Button Combination Description 2 LED light Fun 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Please note: Buttons are numbered from top left to bottom right.
  15. Hi, Claus, I have never seen question marks on the effect blocks in HX Edit, and cannot find a reference to it at this time - I will keep looking. You tried a Factory Reset and the preset names show in the editor, but I suggest that you should also try “Rebuilding” the presets to see if that solves the problem. On your HX Stomp XL, hold down the 2 knobs (View/Action and <Page/Page>) on the right hand side while turning on the power. Furthermore, please ensure that the version of HX Edit you are using is the same as the firmware in the Stomp - v.3.11 Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. Hi, I am still confused by this setup you are using. Every preset is identical? O.K., but why? The channels and effects change per song? O.K., this I understand and can usually be controlled by Snapshots. I cannot comprehend how complex this setup must be if you cannot do what is necessary by using Snapshots. From the manual: ”Depending on how you set them up, snapshots can act as eight variations of the same tone, eight drastically different tones, or any combination thereof—all within the same preset. A single preset’s snapshots may accommodate all the various tones required for a song in many cases.” Therefore each of your Presets can contain 64 different parameters assigned over the 8 snapshots. Do you mean to say that this is insufficient for your needs? If it is - well, I really don’t understand how you’re working. This gap between presets in the way things are in the world of digital modelling - no way round it other than losing half of the processing power of your hardware. This gap in the audio happens no matter what brand of unit you use - it’s not simply Line 6 units. It would seem to me that you either learn to live with it, or streamline your workflow, or possibly by a second HX Rack. Hope this helps/makes sense.

    Helix 3.15

Maybe you should to go over to TGP and re-read all the posts from Eric regarding what you have posted here, just to clarify the situation. It would be a lot easier than me having to cut and paste the stuff that Digital Igloo posted over there. in fact - should anyone really feel the urge to check it out they could do it for themselves and make of it what they want. Some of the best bits are where he says: “None of the upcoming products are directly Helix/HX related.” or “Just normal, boring ol' cryptic. Nothing to see here.” All this speculation - it’s kinda pointless really.
  18. Hi, I’m thinking along the same lines as “SaschaFranck” with this one. Are you actually talking about “Snapshots”, or changing “Presets” here? If you have a sound ringing out, and providing you have “trails” turned on for the relevant FX blocks, there should be no muting happening. Zero, zip, zilch, nada, nothing. If you mean that you are actually changing “presets” then there will definitely be an audible gap as the Helix ditches one set up and loads another. As of v.3.0 firmware this gap can be avoided, but at the expense of losing one path of DSP. Probably not what you want to do. Although, IIRC, I read a post from Digital Igloo who stated that the time between switching presets was in the region of 50-120ms. The only other thing that I can think of is that maybe something in your Snapshot setup is interfering with a bypass On/Off state. Also, when stuff gets weird, do a factory reset and rebuild your presets! Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: Post an example of a preset with the misbehaving snapshots for others to check out.
  19. Hi, You must be U.K. based if you are asking for the 3 pin plug adaptor. This sort of thing crops up on here occasionally and trying to get just the individual part proves to be quite difficult. This might be an easier and better option for U.K. use. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Replacement-Adaptor-Negative-Centre-Supply/dp/B07Y8M9GH5 Check it out and see if could work for you. Also a similar adaptor from Fleabay, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Replacement-9V-3A-AC-DC-Adaptor-Negative-Centre-Power-Supply-for-Line6-DC-3g-/401595600064 Here’s an old spec list Hope this helps/makes sense.
  20. Hi, It’s a Global Setting, under In/Out, and always available for you to use. For more information on how to use this, see: Helix LT 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Rev D -English (also available in French and Japanese) Page 69 -> USB Audio https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f18374611d5dffd3a45/application/pdf/Helix LT 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev D - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  21. Yeah, I realise that. Maybe a glitch, or a new user clicking on the wrong thing. Really it’s just me having a gripe about Apple system updates screwing stuff up.
  22. Nope, I have the latest version of Helix Native on my Mac running High Sierra. Downloaded as normal and it works as expected. After many, many years of using Macs (still got a plus for a door stop), I refuse to follow Apple’s relentless OS update attitude. Every year I would install the latest OS and promptly have the whole house of cards come tumbling down. I simply got sick of it, settled on a system that does the job and feel compunction to move on.
  23. Well, originally that was the sound of the Tom Scholz Rockman direct into the desk, when the Hysteria album was recorded. From their website: https://www.defleppard.com/tag/hysteria-amp/ Live Def Leppard have for years used a Marshall JMP-1 preamp, JFX-1 multi-fx and Alesis reverb, but more recently Axe-FX The Hysteria “sound” keeps cropping up on here, much like the Andy Summers “Massage in a Brothel” tone (duh!) Check the links in this from a couple of years back. Even though I have been known to purchase presets it’s still best practice to make your own sounds. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. Hi, You could use your Scarlett Solo if you created an aggregate device in the Audio MIDI setup utility on your Mac. Use your Helix LT for the input and the Solo for output. See link. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT202000 Hope this helps/makes sense.
  25. You can - see post above! Unless course you are having the problem of HX Edit losing focus on a newer Mac running Big Sur, or Monterey.
