Soon! Take a deep breath and wait!

Hi, This is all rather confusing. When you move the pickup switch, or change guitar model, then you have already changed the Variax preset. If you actually mean, flick the pup switch (or change model) on your Variax to have it change a preset in the Helix, then the answer is no! Imaging during a gig that you accidentally hit your pickup switch and change your entire sound output to the FOH? Helix has foot switches for changing presets, and even that can be problematic for some - still less chance of everything becoming FUBAR during a gig. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Nope!

Hi, When seeking a solution to something like this, it's a good idea to let us know what hardware device you have. Larger HX units have more blocks, and paths, to play around with than the Stomp models. As you said that by using the Tesselator you can get very close, but cannot achieve the fade out. O.K., have you tried pulling the Tesselator block down on to a second path and then add a volume block behind it which is controlled by an expression pedal? You can then mix that path back into the main signal chain for any additional processing - reverb, etc. It is then up to you to control the fade with the volume pedal. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, I have only just spotted your follow up question - I only receive notifications that someone has replied to a post if they have quoted part of my response, then I get an email to inform me - but hey, here we are. I’m not entirely sure that I understand exactly what is happening with your installation. If you try to launch HX Native as a plug-in, and it comes up with a log in screen, the surely the thing to do is log in to your account. Once verified you should be able to run Native. IIRC, I seem to think that I read somewhere, that for some bizarre reason there was an issue trying to log in from within a DAW, but by opening HX Edit and logging in from there it cleared the glitch with Native. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, Maybe the Command Centre can be the way to get your XL what you want it to do. Theoretically, you can assign anything to anything. I have posted Steve Sterlacci's video about doing this stuff many times, but here ya go -one more time. Hope this helps/makes sense.

It certainly is, as the basic setup for the “shoegaze” community, consists of the usual suspects - Fuzz, Overdrive, Chorus, Delay and Reverb - lots of it. All five effects available simultaneously in one inexpensive box - that’s why it’s popular, also with keyboard players. Zoom actually list which items their Multi Stomp effects are based on. Unsurprisingly, quite a few are lifted from the Line 6 M9, including the Particle Verb. Also, many other effects are lifted from, Strymon, Eventide, EHX, TC Electronic to name a few. Oh, yeah, and a reverse reverb modelled on the DigiTech RV7 (Lexicon). With one of these little boxes, and something like a Mooer Baby Bomb, you could get through a small club gig at very little expense.

Lots of similar comments over on TGP. Some think it rather expensive for what it does, but an Eventide H9 only does one effect at a time, and a lot of boutique pedals in the same price range are one trick ponies that only do reverb, delay, or whatever. I have a cheapo, cheapo Zoom MS-70CDR that can do up to 5 FX simultaneously, and has some things that even Helix doesn't have - reverse reverb for example. Now we shall have to wait and see how soon the next HX firmware will land, once this HX One has launched.

Not entirely sure who this is aimed at, (replacement for the M5?) but it's not something that particularly interests me. Guess there must be some market for it, somewhere, or they wouldn't have made it.

Hi, Someone asked a very similar question earlier today. Simple answer - yes, it is normal and it involves a little bit of the science of physics named "Pan Law". Strap in - Here is the explanation for the difference in level when a path is split. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, This is to something that I have ever encountered, but a quick Google turned up this result from the Fretboard Forum posted a couple of years back :- "NOW SOLVED. In case anyone else has the same issue, I went through the de-authorising/reauthorising PC; and unistalling/deleting %appdata%/reinstalling process again. This time it worked - the only difference to previous attempts being to delete the entire Native folder from Roaming rather than just all contents. Whatever the weird mechanism, this has worked for me. Hopefully this will help someone else with the same issue.... ' Here's the link to the whole thing: - https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/217392/solved-problems-with-helix-native Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Ahh… enlightenment! Now it makes sense. :-)

Hi, This is really confusing now, because in your first reply to the OP, you specifically mentioned “knob 6 and then knob 5”, and IIRC they are non existent on the HX Stomp, or XL which only have 3 knobs, and likewise the HXFX. When checking (which I did prior to my earlier post) the Owner’s Manuals for all the Helix range, under the section about “Command Center” only the manuals for the larger units have an additional section named “Customizing a Command Footswitch Label & Color”. This extra information is not included in the manuals for the smaller models, including the HXFX. Color my LED baffled. ;-)

Hi, It's a Mac thing. Helix is "plug and play" with the regular Apple Core Audio, but as you discovered, only at 48kHz. You need to install the driver for other sample rate options. On the Windows platform, all the necessary drivers are installed along with HX Edit during the update routine. Glad you got it working - have fun.
-
Hi, The answer that @rd2rk provided is correct, BUT that customisation option is only available on Helix Floor, Rack and LT units. When seeking assistance from other users, it’s advisable to specify which device you’re using - it’s a big help, and avoids confusion. Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Yes - you bought a unit that doesn’t work! My guess - hardware issue, needs a technician to repair it. Hope this helps/makes sense.

can you disable the MODE Edit/Exit footswitch on the HX stomp XL?

Hi, Hmm… not that I’m aware of. I guess other users are possibly slightly more accurate with FS pressing - I would simply advise caution “in the heat of battle”. Sorry! Hope this helps/makes sense -
You should know better than to dream. You follow the stuff on TGP and there is no indication from DI (other than Soon!), and Frank has not posted any control tower messages for a long, long time. :-)
-
Hahaha, yup, we’re very old guys, but I got an eye test just last week and mine have no changes to my prescription. It’s great to know that at the wrong side of 70, I can still see my feet. ;-)

Hi, You will notice that when you restart your HX Stomp/ HXFX it will go through a "Rebuilding Presets" routine. This is normal, as there was another update in the Helix Core engine at v.3.50, and it brings all your presets into line with the current operating system. The "Rebuilding Presets" will occur every time you add any preset created with an earlier version of the firmware, it's just general "housekeeping" for the hardware unit and to be expected. Glad you managed to fix the issue. Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Hi, again, O.K. as you stated in your original post - "Here we go again". This “walk through” fix it solution (see below) was put together almost a year ago, but the technique is the same for any failed update. Why this "fix it" was never pinned to the first page is beyond me - but hey - here ya go! A couple of things to remember while following the instructions - any reference to Firmware, HX Edit and Updater version numbers need to be the very latest available. NOTE: You may want to read the current 3.60 Release Notes before commencing the update. Remember - DON’T PANIC! Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Hi, You didn’t mention what version of the Firmware you are trying to update from? Anyhow, if you’re trying to update to v.3.60 using a version of HX Edit 3.0, or earlier, you need to update your HX Edit to the latest version. See the Firmware 3.60 Release Notes here - (also linked from the Firmware download page). EDIT: This is quite old now, but the instructions are still valid. Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Hi, Easy to miss - It was hidden in the body of the text in the post. You just require the example .hlx preset now. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, RE: HELIX DRIVER FOR MAC OS - From the Line6 Helix Driver 2 v.1.5.0 released October 2021 download page. ”This driver adds support for Apple Silicon systems (M1 and greater). This driver is for macOS 11 Big Sur (Intel/Apple Silicon) and greater. For macOS Catalina or earlier, please use driver 1.1.0. This driver provides sample rate conversion for 44.1kHz, 88.2kHz and 96kHz operation. For 48kHz operation, we recommend using the Mac class compliant driver. Installation of this driver will require lowering your system security settings. Please click here for installation instructions.” If you’re on the download page and click the link it reveals this info: Hope this helps/makes sense.
