  1. Hi, Interesting first post - the problem is there are no Line staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”. Even if there was any Line 6 folks here they wouldn't say. If you really want to know, (Line 6 never reveal what is in the pipeline) even though many do try to tease little bits of info from them. Try checking over on The Gear Page. This should get you on the right track: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/helix-4-0.2409602/page-21#post-37920052 Oooh! Look a comment from Digital_Igloo at post #416, where he says: "Actually, there's one small thing to release before 3.70. It's not new hardware nor new firmware. No red herring or wink wink here—it's definitely minor... but helpful." and for those "hopefully" anticipating 3.70 to drop in December he says: "It was "hopefully before December," although we're still in the squashing bugs phase." So that's the latest info from Digital_Igloo (Eric Klein, Chief Product Design Architect, Yamaha Guitar Group | Line 6 | Ampeg | Córdoba | Guild) the man who knows. Then again even he doesn't really know until the package is ready to roll, or, if the plane is on the runway, and all the other waffle that has been spouted over the years about when the latest firmware will land. Yup - The Eternal Question - once again. Eternal Answer - yet again - SOON! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  2. "Canarsie, where everyone looks the same", spoke by Warren Cuccurullo. FZ “Shut up and play yer guitar some more!” Looks like @rd2rk has us both beat - but I have the excuse of being from Britain.
  3. Hi, I dragged your "Darkthrone.hlx" file into an empty slot in Helix Native 3.61 and it works just fine. If you had checked in the Helix Native section of these forums and done a search fo the error code-8312, you would have found this. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  4. Hi, Welcome to the “learning curve”. Take some time to read the HX FX Owner’s Manual and become familiar with it. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a411710a6112a67116f0b/application/pdf/HX Effects 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev C - English .pdf Other folks presets will more than likely not sound how you might expect. You would not be playing through the same gear in the same listening environment - result, usually disappointing. Learn how to make the box of tricks work with your equipment. After reading the manual, you may realise that nowhere in the text does it mention the magic “Make Me a Rock God” (or whatever) button. It doesn’t exist - it requires a lot of time and effort from you. Nobody else can do this for you. Oh, yeah - did anyone mention RTFM! Harsh? Nope, it’s reality. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  5. LOL, and in this current climate of “me too”, I have to say - “me too!”. Having said that, along with my business colleague, over the years we did quite a bit of work for Peaceville records. That saw us becoming involved with a few of their bands, such as Cradle of Filth, Anathema and Thine. It appears that Darkthrone are also on their roster, although we never had any involvement with them - in fact most of the bands on Peaceville sound like they are suffering from demonic possession. We actually had more of a connection to the sister label, Dreamtime, which had more of a psychedelic electronicia vibe, with outfits such as Ship of Fools and Drug Free America. Oh, the stuff we have seen and heard!
  6. Yeah, but is that the same Preset as the OP’s Norwegian Death Metal preset named “Darkthrone”?
  7. Hi, First up - Sadly, there are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). Secondly - keep on being happy with your HX Stomp XL, and don’t go poking around inside the thing. Generally the term used is “There are no user serviceable parts inside”. There is a good reason for that - you may cause unnecessary and permanent damage. You might find it easy to set up a floating trem on a guitar, but this is complex electronic equipment. It’s not like cleaning cookie crumbs out of you computer keyboard. Focus on your sound. Hope this helps/makes sense.

    c# tuning?

Hi, It depends where you’re looking for it. If you are looking for C sharp in the tuner, then you are also looking for D flat. On a piano both the naturals for C and D are on the white keys, and the single black key between the two is the sharpened version of C, and the flattened version of D. Both should read out at 277.183Hz. It’s a little like how English folks spell centre, and in America people spell it as center - different spelling, same thing! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  9. It is more than likely that the patches (Presets) you mention were actually created for the Helix Floor, LT or Rack mount versions of the HX hardware. These larger models have double the DSP available than the single chip that is in the HX Stomp XL. The HX Stomp XL pedal can only accommodate up to eight simultaneous amp, cab, IR, effects, and/or looper blocks, DSP permitting. Anything more than that cannot be loaded. As for viewing and editing Presets (patches), Line 6 provide a a software application that runs on a computer and connects to the hardware device via USB. If you don't have a physical unit connected then HX Edit cannot function. Therefore previewing Presets is not possible, unless you choose the option mentioned by @silverhead in the post above. The Helix Native plug-in will run for 15 days as a fully functional demo and can be set to emulate the restrictions of the HX Stomp XL (or any other HX unit) via a Hardware Compatibility function set in the preferences. Also, there are a few HX file viewers available online, but they can be a bit hit and miss, and only show you the blocks used with no editing available. Anyhow, making edits to audio presets while not being able to monitor the changes in the audio is rather pointless. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: I just realised that you said the Presets won't import into my HX Stomp XL. I guess that means you have dowloaded the presets from somewhere like CustomTone. If you did get them from CustomTone then you need to restrict you search options to the ones compatible with your unit, rather that all the Helix Presets.
  10. Hi, Thank you so much for your comments, but I am only one of several other forum contributors who try to assist to the best of our abilities. Over the years we have tried to do our best, even to the point of translations through Google when necessary. A real United Nations of Support. It’s reassuring to know that our posts have actually helped others to fix their issues. It’s nice to have our efforts acknowledged. TY
  11. Hi, It can be a bit confusing, but the routine is: Backing Up Helix/HX Hardware Connect your Helix/HX processor to a Mac or PC via USB and turn it on. Do not use any sort of USB hub. Open YOUR CURRENT VERSION of HX Edit (NOT the new HX Edit 3.60). From the top File menu, select "Create Backup..." Click "Create Backup." The backup file you create is your “Fail Safe” - ensure you have copy should thing go off kilter. Once you have the backup safely stashed away go to the DOWNLOADS menu item at the top of this page. Click the menu and from "- Choose Hardware -" select Helix Rack, then under "- Choose Software -" select HX Edit, now select your PC/Mac OS from under the "- Choose OS -" tab, then click “Go”. From the next page you can select HX Edit 3.61 for your Helix Rack. Download this to your computer and where note the download is, and then run the HX Edit installer. When installed, launch the new version of HX Edit while connected to your Rack via USB. If you are connected to the internet and logged into your Line 6 account, after HX Edit starts up, it should pop up a message informing you that a new version of the firmware is available, (if you are not logged in you need to do that and then the update info should appear). From now on simply follow every instruction provided by the auto installer - this includes making backups. Don’t try to skip anything, just follow the instructions to the letter, even when you think it is taking a very long time. And, remember, DO NOT ALLOW YOUR COMPUTER TO LOSE FOCUS. Do not allow it to enter sleep mode, run a screensaver, stream audio or anything else, like checking FarceBook, until the update is done and verified. Please don’t go for a walk while doing this. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. Next month - Yeah, right - newsflash ;-) I won’t hold my breath. Jeeziz, Nigel, what planet are you from? Now you say that you actually bought a Ricochet that produces the effect you’re chasing, but can’t justify the space it occupies to use it for just one song. What’s up with that - wrong colour scheme? I guess I shouldn’t be, but I never seem to cease to be amazed how you leap into buying new gear, then rush to the forums to figure out why it doesn’t work how you expected? Maybe a little more research is required. The other thing that I do wonder about is, how old will you have to be before you can drop the term “boy” from your handle? Ye gods - I despair. Cantankerous old grey beard.
  13. Hi, Oops! - Here we go again - although the post from @brue58ski above, might get you back on track, I think that you may need to dig a little deeper judging from this comment:- You mentioned using the Line 6 Updater, but you only get the BSOD - that's bad, I mean very bad. Therefore I will point you at the recover procedure that may be able to resurrect your hardware. To save me having to type out the whole thing once again here's a link to the basic recovery as described by Line 6. Here is the ULTIMATE recovery method from the forum users on here. Note:- any references to version numbers of firmware, HX Edit, drivers and Line 6 Updater must be the latest available, not the ones mentioned in the post as it is now over a year old. This should be your "Get Out of Jail Free" card. Use it wisely! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. HI, Yup, I would say that, because a Ricochet box is a DIgiTech Whammy with the pedal removed and a momentary switch added in its place. Now, what @rd2rk mentions, is the new HX One stereo stomp box from Line 6 which essentially contains every effect from the Helix family in a single unit, but can only use one effect at a time. They have also added a novel "FLUX" button which is described like this on the FAQ page:- What’s up with that TAP | FLUX switch? Hold TAP and it changes to Flux, which acts like a Heel/Toe expression switch, where any (or all) parameters transition to a different value over X seconds/beats with a selectable curve. It’s a ton of fun, especially with tape delay squeals, octave divebombs, distortion swells into the chorus, blooming reverbs, and countless more tricks that are difficult or impossible to pull off live. Or if you set Flux Time to zero, you can seamlessly toggle between two states of the same effect, just like snapshots in Helix. Here's the thing in action - hmm ... Ricochet? Who knows, this might even be a feature added to the next HX Firmware. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. Hi, From the Release Notes 3.60 - posted by Digital_Igloo (Eric Klein - Chief Product Design Architect at Yamaha Guitar Group, Inc. / Line 6 / Ampeg) - so basically, he is the guy who knows for certain. My Helix/HX is at version X.XX. Can I go straight to 3.60? Yes, but note that if you're starting from 2.80 or lower, the update may appear to happen three times and will take notably longer than 30 minutes. This is normal. plus this: With Helix/HX connected to your computer, launch HX Edit (3.01 or higher), and make sure you're signed in. HX Edit knows when a new update is available and will walk you through the entire update procedure for both hardware and software, including backing up everything to your computer. IMPORTANT! If you're running HX Edit 3.00 or older, download HX Edit 3.60 and repeat step 1. The section in red would appear to indicate that if you are updating from firmware prior to v.3.0 you need to download the latest HX Edit (3.60) and install using that. Note: you need to back up everything from your hardware using the version of HX Edit that already have installed before attempting to update. Older presets are not compatible with the new Firmware and will be updated automatically later - see below. As for the “Boot Failure - Entered Update Mode” message, you are aware that it is documented in the Release Notes. This is due to the major changes to the Helix Core and can take a while (brain transplant), but wait for the message in HX Edit stating the device needs to be reset - Click Resume and wait for the second part of the update to finish. When the install is complete, your hardware should auto restart and go through the “Rebuilding Presets” routine - once again this could take a while. Now you can perform a Factory Reset on your unit and you can check out all the new factory presets (again, refer to the notes). When you get bored with that you can simply restore everything from your back up files. Note: when you load up your old presets and restart the hardware it will go through the “Rebuilding Presets” routine again - in fact it will do this every time you load a single preset created with any previous version of the firmware. This is normal because the Core has been modified, and all presets need to be updated to work properly in the new system. IMPORTANT - during any update, do not have any other software running in the background that may cause the installation to lose focus. Turn off screensavers, and/or sleep functions, and audio streaming, etc. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. Hi, Aah ... it's your first post, so here's couple of things - First, re: Feature Requests There are no Line staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums” This link is where you need to go to have any hope of it been seen by anyone from Line 6: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/index Before posting any new ideas, please do a search to see if it's already been listed. Multiple requests for the same thing will thin out the votes. Also, post your ideas one at a time. Many users don’t vote for combined suggestions. You should then use this thread to let other users know what your suggestions are, with links to IdeaScale, so they can vote on it if they wish. https://line6.com/support/topic/14497-helix-ideascale-community-submissions/ Secondly - You really should have done some research about DSP and bought a Helix LT, Floor, or Rack with double the DSP of your HX Stomp XL. I can't see these sort of request being added this far down the line. Long time Helix user and Forum contributor, Ben Vesco (Malhavok), has produced a list of DSP allocation up to Firmware 3.5 - find it here: https://benvesco.com/store/helix-dsp-allocations/ Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. Hi, Yes it is possible, but as mentioned by @silverhead in the post above, there are a couple of things to be aware of. First, there was an major change to the Helix Core operating system at version 2.80 which could make it seem as if the installation had failed part way thought the update. This was to be expected and was listed in the Release Notes with a note telling users not to panic. Despite this warning many did anyway, resulting in a spate of posts claiming "Update bricked my Helix". Not true - it was user error. Anyhow, you should be aware that there was another update to the Core at version 3.5 with a similar result of people thinking the update had failed. Plus there is also a similar thing happening with v.3.60 firmware. Before attempting to update I seriously suggest that you make backups of your entire Rack contents, then read, study and inwardly digest all the information provided in the 3.60 Release Notes - here: Above all - DON'T PANIC! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  18. Hi, Good to know that you have managed to solve the issue you were having with your Helix. Generally if your Helix starts to do strange things and behave in a weird fashion, the first thing to try is a factory reset, failing that, reinstall the the latest version of the firmware. It’s no bother to anyone, and reporting on how you fixed this may help others. Enjoy your Helix.

  20. Hi, Not sure about the “freeze” issue, but this may be similar to what you mentioned. Check the Globals for Snapshots. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  21. Hi, I realise that this is your first post here, but when seeking assistance with issues like this, it is a big help to know exactly what version of Helix Native, what DAW and what operating system you are running in your computer? Did you already have a copy of Native previously installed and fully functional, or is this a completely new installation. This information is important - We are not psychic. I have recently seen posts on the PreSonus forum regarding these symptoms occurring after updating Studio One Pro to version 6.5. If this your DAW, you should update to v 6.5.1 which was listed as a fix on November 1st. Hope this helps/makes sense. Check this: https://forums.presonus.com/viewtopic.php?t=52495&p=308995
  22. I can only reiterate the comments from both @rd2rk and @DunedinDragon in their posts above. This whole thing is totally dependent on the ears of the person listening. My opinion, or anyone else’s is not really relevant, you are the one doing the listening. You are the one seeking the trouser flapping nirvana of standing in front of a speaker stack, although in that situation I would advise wearing ear protection. Hmm… I wonder how that would change what you are hearing? I’m a studio rat, and I am more used to hearing what happens to the guitar signal after it has made the very short leap from the speaker cone into the microphone, and after being sculpted a little by other processing before emerging from the studio monitors. That’s when the air starts to vibrate for me. Sound waves are the science of physics, it’s dependent on what you use to start the wave moving, in what sort of environment. Helix is and remains a different “experience” to different users. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. Hi, I don’t have Stomp, mine is the Helix floor, but this is not something that I have experienced while switching to the tuner. I notice this is your first post to the forum, plus you mentioned a recent update . Therefore I will ask - after performing the firmware update, did you perform a factory reset and go through the preset update routine. Then did you re-install your back up bundle file that also contains the Global settings for your hardware? First rule of Helix club - if something starts to behave in a weird manner, perform a factory reset on the device. Hope this helps/makes sense. You can find the reset options here: https://helixhelp.com/tips-and-guides/universal/reset-options
  24. Hello, Rather than go through the long process of typing out everything that is already contained in the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual, I will link to the pdf download, where you can find the official explanation of the various output options available. See pages 25 - 27 https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f041b611d61cac763b/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev F - English .pdf You may find it useful to also refer to your Powercab Plus Pilot’s Guide. Hope this helps/makes sense.
