  1. Hi, This “walk through” fix it solution (see below) was put together almost a year ago, but the technique is the same for any failed update. A couple of things to remember while following the instructions - any reference to Firmware, HX Edit and Updater version numbers need to be the very latest available. NOTE: You said you have tried updating your Helix “for the first time since I bought it back in 2018”. You didn’t mention what version of the Firmware you had installed, but it must have been prior to v.2.80 (released 2019). I mention this because with v.2.80, there was a major change to the Core engine of the Helix, which caused many users think they had “bricked” their unit when it seemed to have failed halfway through the process. There was a similar update to the Core at v.3.50 and the Release Notes mention the update could take in excess of 30 minutes. You may want to read the current 3.60 Release Notes before commencing the update. Remember - DON’T PANIC! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  2. Hi, This is happening more and more, and is increasingly irritating. It appears to be fairly obvious how to attach a .hlx file to a post. If this is user error, fine, they need to take more care - if not then the site admin needs to fix the server settings.
  3. Don’t hold your breath waiting for that to happen! As noted by @rd2rk in the post above, Digital Igloo has a $500 bet on this, over on TGP, and he is the man who would know. Far too much still in progress for this version of Helix products. Judging from the threads over on TGP, users are waiting for the version 3.7 Firmware to drop, then v.4.0 should follow on from that. Plus if there was anything more in the pipeline, they won’t tell anyone here, or anywhere else, until it’s ready to launch. Then you will know for sure. Speculation is just speculation, and totally pointless, because Line 6 sure as hell are not going to reveal any potential new device to their competitors. I bought my Helix floor back in 2015 for what it could do then, and Line 6 still keeps adding to it. You could waste your life waiting for the next big thing coming down the road. Hope this helps/makes sense. Check this thread from 2019 asking the same question as you - 7 pages of fun and games!
  4. Yep, what @brue58ski said in the post above - easy as. Plus, for anyone who would like even more control over their tuning capability, it also has “Offsets”, that can be used to help correct inherent tuning issues exhibited by many instruments, or specifically, ones that use the Buzz Feiten tuning system. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  5. No one need ever know that your predictive text had messed with your posts. If you ever need to edit a spelling error, or anything else in your post, you can click on the 3 small grey dots above your post and select “Edit” from the drop down menu. Hope this helps/makes sense. ;-)
  6. In reply to your double post! This guy seem to have Helix work fine with a DT50. Another longer one. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  7. Above and beyond the call of duty, Sir! Excellent.
  8. Hi, In a way you’ve managed to answer your own question with this comment - “I have seen a few YouTube demonstrations and the guys do appear to be getting good, chunky guitar sounds, so I don't know what I did wrong.” As you mention the sound of a Marshall JCM800, I will point you to this blog from Digital Igloo (Eric Klein), as the 800 is used as his opening example. https://blog.line6.com/2023/09/15/eric-klein-at-least-half-of-your-modelers-sound-is-determined-by-your-playback-system/ That’s the second time today that I have had to point someone to this article. Hope it helps/makes sense.
  9. Hi, Here ya go. Read this. https://blog.line6.com/2023/09/15/eric-klein-at-least-half-of-your-modelers-sound-is-determined-by-your-playback-system/ Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. All valid points, including replying to a post from 2017 - somebody resurrected this thread that had quietly slipped away in it’s sleep way back in 2020.
  11. Hi, All the Helix products have MIDI ports for IN, OUT/THRU. MIDI control is not extensive, but it does function for most situations. Having said that, you have confused me by now adding a question about MIDI control from a DAW such as ”Cubase or other musical engine... ”. If you have a Helix Rack that you want to use in a live situation, but also require MIDI control from a DAW, then why not simply use Helix Native. If you are a registered owner of a Helix Rack, then you should be eligible for a discount on Helix Native, (you may need to verify that). Knowing exactly what you want to achieve with what equipment in what situation would be a very big help. Plus, as it is 5 months since you original post - how important is this? Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. Hi, More information required - see post from @silverhead above.
  13. Yep, I had also noticed that they do appear to be very similar, almost identical, boxes with different branding. It seems to be quite common with a lot of products made in the Orient. Buyer beware.
  14. Hi, I’m not sure if you have already checked this info from the Singular Forum, it even has a contribution from @DunedinDragon. https://forum.singularsound.com/t/finally-figured-out-helix-control-of-beat-buddy-functions/25399 Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. Rule number 1 - Always work on a copy! You do have a backup don’t you?
  16. Hi, As you previously had a completely dead unit, you have no idea if the screen had been damaged by the lightening strike, but I would have expected the unit should have been thoroughly tested before being returned to you. Having said that, it might be worth talking to the Line 6 repair shop, because they may have a warranty on the repair, and be willing to check out the problem. Don’t be tempted to try to fix it yourself, as everything else works correctly, it may be as simple as a bad connection. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. Hi, When requesting assistance it is a big help to know what HX hardware device you're using. (Now we know - Helix) Also, as a new user, It might be advisable to some time to read through the Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual, which is full of really useful information. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f041b611d61cac763b/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev F - English .pdf Another good reference resource for Helix users is: https://helixhelp.com Hope this helps/makes sense.
  18. Hi, ”Me too”, isn’t a great way to ask for assistance - a little more clarity and info is a big help. Have you checked this thread? Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. Hi, This is not normal, and I don’t think that I have heard of others who have experienced a “Dead On Arrival” unit. This is exceptional. It is new and it is covered by warranty, simply have it replaced for one that works correctly.
  20. Hi, One thought that comes to mind is, as I mentioned in my earlier post, using HX Native doesn’t give you the physical hardware connections to allow you to use the FX Loop on you Blackstar. Simply jacking into the front of the amp may not be the best way to evaluate this, plus your St.James has a built in reverb. Is that on, or are you using the time based effects in Native into the front of the amp? Anyhow, you really need to assess the hardware out in the real world, using whatever will be you final output - 4 Cable Method to real amp and cab, or into a Powercab, or through studio monitors. Hope this helps/makes sense
  21. Hi, FYI :- Helix Native is the essentially the software engine that is used in the other Line 6 hardware units, therefore sonically there's no difference. The downside to using the Native is you have no physical Send/Return, FX Loop and Looper so those options are not available. Command Centre Assignments are not supported by Native and are ignored in any presets that are imported. There are also issues with Helix hardware controller assignments - see page 20 of Helix Native Pilot's Guide. You might need a MIDI controller for expression pedal use. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. Hi, Here is another great resource. https://helixhelp.com This is the most comprehensive list of models and blocks that you can find for every amp, cab, distortion, modulation, pitch, and other effects found on the Line 6 Helix, Helix Rack, Helix LT, HX Stomp, HX Stomp XL, HX Effects, and Helix Native. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. Hi, As you have noted, this issue is not on all presets, but “on many built-in and some custom presets”. Therefore not auto gain as such. Helix doesn’t have any AGC - best guess is, like others here have commented, probably due to some sort of compression or gating on the signal. Heavy compression can cause that “breathing”, or “pumping” effect. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. Hi, No, your POD Go presets aren’t not compatible with any of the HX family of products - even though they use the same HX Modelling technology the presets are different file formats and not transferable. You could make notes of all your POD presets for each component in the signal chain and attempt to recreate them in the Helix. That way you’re not really having to recreate them from scratch because you can reference your notes as a cheat sheet. Hope this helps/makes sense.
