I’m becoming more, and more confused by some of your questions. A little research before diving into the deep end is always a big help. You say it is a box fresh HX Rack, in which case you should have available:- 8 Setlists each containing 32 banks of four presets (A, B, C, and D). Grand total of 1,024 locations for you to store presets. Possibly, on a new unit, the first 2 Setlists will be populated with the regular factory presets, and Setlist 8 containing various Template configurations for you to experiment with. Working with this information you should find that the stock Setlists 3 through 7 comprise of nothing but “New Preset” (blank preset) slots giving you 128 places to load any CustomTone presets in each set list. Also, you don’t always need to save each individual preset, because you can arrange presets into whatever order you wish and then export the Setlist. Note: you can export a Setlist containing only blank “New Preset” slots which means you can effectively blank out 128 presets in one go. I seriously advise that you sit down and read the Rack Owner’s Manual, and the HX Edit Pilot’s Guide, regarding file management, backup, restore etc. Next - regarding CustomTone downloads, a word of warning. Many people find they are very, very disappointed to discover that the supposedly perfect recreation of (insert guitar hero of choice here) legendary tone does not live up to expectations. There are many, many reasons for this, for example:- different guitar model, pickups, strings, playing technique, environment and playback system. It has been discussed at length in here. Consider this, a tone created in a studio with large monitors, or for live work through a PA system, isn’t really going to hit the mark through headphones in a bedroom. I’m not saying they are all bad, and there actually some very good commercial presets available, but not everything works for everybody, otherwise we would all sound the same. Let’s face it, Eddie Van Halen sounded like EVH, simply because nobody else did. The best thing is to learn how to sculpt your own tones for your particular use. Hope this helps/makes sense. This is worth reading too! https://blog.line6.com/2023/09/15/eric-klein-at-least-half-of-your-modelers-sound-is-determined-by-your-playback-system/

Copy and paste a blank preset over whatever you want to delete - simple! Most of us have been doing that for the past 10 years. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Nope, it’s not mandatory, but the latest version of the firmware will be full of extra goodies, and general bug fixes that make life a lot more fun. IIRC, I have seen mention that it is not unusual for retailers,(eg. Sweetwater) to have loaded the latest firmware into HX products before they are shipped out. The usual clue that this has occurred is that people have fired up their new device, only to panic when all the slots seem to be blank and are populated with “New Preset” as the name. Factory reset fixes that. Anyhow, if you did return the unit after installing the latest FW, you will have saved someone else from having to do it. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, From the Owner’s Manual page 5 https://line6.com/data/6/0a00051afd4e673ccaf2d15b4/application/pdf/Helix Rack and Control 3.80 Owner's Manual - English .pdf “First, install the latest HX Edit software version on your Mac or PC (available at line6. com/software), connect Helix Rack to your computer’s USB port, and HX Edit will check online and let you know if a newer firmware version is available. If so, HX Edit will then walk you through performing a full device backup and firmware update, all within minutes. Please see the HX Edit Pilot’s Guide for full details.” HX Edit Pilots Guide - here: https://line6.com/data/6/0a00051aff0e673cd37585ccd/application/pdf/HX Edit Pilots Guide 3.80 - English .pdf Note: Both the Helix Rack and PC need to be connected, and powered ON, via USB or you will not be able to update the firmware, or remotely edit your presets. They have to communicate! Just plug ‘em in. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Your Rack has the identical processing power as my Helix floor - plus lots of options for multi path signals. BTW it’s not just 2 signal paths, but actually 4 each with it’s own input, and each of those four paths are full stereo. How about this scenario - acoustic guitar and electric bass, along with a vocal on a mic input path, plus a synth/keyboard/drum machine on the return inputs. First time you need an extra signal path, you won’t regret having them there. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, The simplest solution to this situation is to use the Helix Native plug-in. If you have recently purchased your HX Stomp new, then you should qualify for the special discount price of $99. All the advantages of a full blown Helix inside Logic - download the free 15 day fully functional demo version from:- https://line6.com/software/ Hope this helps/makes sense.

What/Where is the discount on Helix Native for Helix owners?
datacommando replied to purplecabbage's topic in Helix Native
Hi, You cannot get a discount for both Amp Farm and Helix - just one, or the other. If you go here:- https://shop-ww.line6.com/software/plugins/helix-native/?_gl=1*k8s9rz*_gcl_au*MjA0OTMwODIxOS4xNzU3MzM4Mzk0*_ga*MjAwNzU1MTIxNC4xNzU3MzM4Mzk1*_ga_YKCRXJ77G6*czE3NTczMzgzOTQkbzEkZzEkdDE3NTczMzg2ODAkajMkbDAkaDIyODUyOTE5OQ.. Once there, you can click on the blue text that says “Register your gear”, plus also click on the radio button for Helix Native (not upgrade from POD, Amp or Echo Farm) and that takes you to a page where you fill in all the required details and you will discover what discount you are entitled to. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, Well, if you were a HX Stomp user then it is really convenient, simply because of the restrictions imposed by only having 3 foot switches available to use with 8 Snapshots. Steve Sterlacci explains everything in this video (one more time) Maybe a bit of time working through the manual would be helpful. Find it here:- https://line6.com/data/6/0a00051afe12673ccd29b29f5/application/pdf/HX Stomp XL 3.80 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, A little more information would help. You don’t say if it was working properly previously, but now it looks like this after boot up. If a factory reset doesn’t fix the issues, and you only bought it 2 days ago, if it is brand new, straight out of the box (not pre-owned), then it will be covered by the standard warranty, and it should be replaced for one that works correctly. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Lots of computer noise when running Native. Please help!
datacommando replied to tbomortino's topic in Helix Native
Hi, I agree totally with the suggestions given by @rd2rk in the post above - BUT why is the power light on your computer flickering? Surely, the power ON indicator light should be a solid, stable display. To my mind that would appear to be a symptom of a bad connection somewhere, and possibly the cause of the audio interference that you mention. Hope this helps/makes sense -
Hx Stomp audio interface output only from headphones, main output no sound
datacommando replied to dishi99's topic in Helix
Hi, Well, this is weird - if you have used the Global In/Outs of your HXS, available on page 3, then the only options are:- Phones Monitor - Determines which signal(s) are heard from the Phones output. Normally you would set this to “Main L/R.” Volume Control - Determines whether the top panel VOLUME knob controls both the 1/4" main output and headphone output (“Main+HP”) or just the headphone output (“Phones”). When set to “Phones” the 1/4" main outputs remain at unity gain. If your Volume knob is configured to use the phones, then the outputs to your Genlec monitors should be at unity? EDIT: You didn't mention if this issue of just hearing audio via the phone socket, only happens on playback over USB. Does the sound from your HX Stomp play through the monitors if you simply have a guitar on the input If this is not the case, then your best bet is to raise a ticket with Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi Dave, At last a photo - Phew, plus lots more info, now we maybe getting somewhere. Quote: "After the firmware update I always get a screen that says the update was successful but, on the auto, restart the stomp will not load past the start-up screen." O.K. I realise that this may seem obvious, but looking at the photo, you say the red boot indicator line move across the screen and then it just stays there, correct? I notice that the picture show that a USB cable is connected to the HX. Have you tried to boot the device without the USB connection? If not try the Factory Reset (FS2&3) and/or the Clear All (FS1,2,&3) procedures without the USB connected and the switches held down until you see the message indicating that the reset is beginning. USB can be notoriously flakey at times, and it has been noted that when doing a Firmware Update through the Line 6 Updater Utility using a downloaded local file, it is best to remove the USB cable for around 30/40 seconds before trying to connect again. If you get no further, then you will just have to wait for a response from Customer Service. Don't worry, because your unit is under warranty and should be simply a matter of getting it replaced for one that does work. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, The standard response is. This is a user to user forum. There are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). In this case. You got lucky - see the reply from “Digital_Igloo” in the earlier post above. Note: DI is actually Eric Klein, Chief Product Design Architect at Line 6. He is the man who knows, and he says it will not be in HX Edit, only in the Stadium app. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, again. A couple of points, just to clarify things. The more info we have, the better the chance of figuring out a solution. You unpacked the HX Stomp and went straight to updating the firmware without checking everything worked first? Yes/no. If it was working, and now it doesn’t then the issue is most likely due to a glitch in the software, rather than a hardware problem, and very rarely would that turn your HX into a paperweight. You have said that you have tried to reinstall the firmware several times without success, by using the reboot with footswitches held down for Factory Reset, and Clear Presets/IRs/Everything. You didn’t mention, if before you tried the reinstall, you rebooted holding down the Page > button, which puts the device into “Update Mode”. It’s also a big help to know what computer and operating system you’re using. Plus, during the update, did you ensure that you had disconnected anything that may cause any interference with the installation, e.g. - other USB, internet connections, background apps running. NOTE: The attachments you have provided are empty generic .php files. If you are uploading a picture, please ensure it is in an acceptable format and has a name - “example” pic, jpeg etc. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hx Stomp audio interface output only from headphones, main output no sound
datacommando replied to dishi99's topic in Helix
Hi, I don’t know if this is relevant but did you read this:- I have to say that I am running an older iMac Retina 5k on OS Catalina with Logic Pro X without any issues. At various times over the past 10 years I have also used my Helix floor via USB with GarageBand, Reaper, Ableton, ProTools Lite, among other stuff, and it never misses a beat. If I want to, I can use it to jam along to backing tracks from Music (iTunes), YouTube, or whatever. All this is done in the Audio/MIDI settings, or Logic, etc. - I have even had it working configured with 2 other audio interfaces as an aggregate device, adding extra channels. NOTE: You may want to check your monitor system. In my case, I have my Kali IN-8 v2 monitors hooked up to the XLR sockets on the rear of my Helix. You didn’t make any mention of your studio setup, other than headphones. IIRC, on a Mac your HX device should be a simple plug and play unit, and the driver is only required to use sample rates other than the Line 6 default of 48kHz. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hx Stomp audio interface output only from headphones, main output no sound
datacommando replied to dishi99's topic in Helix
Hi, See page 56 - Ins/Outs, plus page 61 USB Audio. https://line6.com/data/6/0a00051afdda673cccdb61c9c/application/pdf/HX Stomp 3.80 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, Of course there is this which maybe part of the issue:- https://blog.line6.com/2023/09/15/eric-klein-at-least-half-of-your-modelers-sound-is-determined-by-your-playback-system/ We have no idea of what you are hearing, therefore it would be most helpful if you supplied some sort of reference for users to evaluate. If you would possibly post a couple of examples of the audio (MP3) from both the POD and the Helix, along with an example problematic preset from the Helix (.hlx file), then people here may be able to give you a better idea of how things sound to them, through their monitor system. Hope this helps/makes sense

Patch volumes (and increasing and balancing volume)
datacommando replied to Naissance47's topic in Helix
This topic has been covered many, many times previously in this forum - dig around and stuff will turn up. Meanwhile. Plus - here's Steve. Oh, and Chad has this. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, Looking at the photo, it appears to have 2 captive nuts attached, one each side of the rubber block. Measure the the distance between the centres of the nuts, and then try to find 2 bolts that are a similar spacing apart. As you mentioned that you were in the process of trying to clean the Exp toe switch, I would start by looking in that area. Furthermore, the rubber block seems to have square shaped indentation on the surface, which would seem to imply a square shaped object with slightly raised edges has been making contact with it quite regularly. Grab a torch and get in there. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, I would guess that any repair done undertaken by Yamaha Canada should have come with a warranty, which guarantees the work. Rather than post in here, where nobody is able to assist you, it might be better to take the issues directly to the people who did the repair. Your contract is with them. This is a peer to peer user group, and no Line Staff are here. If they have not repaired the unit to a fully functioning standard, they should be responsible for making good any defects. The repair should have returned your unit back to being “fit for purpose”, which it would seem it is not. Furthermore, they should be willing to pay for the shipping costs incurred. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, There are several mentions of the [code -1116] in here, in fact the post prior to yours also references it. Anyhow, you said that you have tried a fresh install of Native, but there can be issues, especially on Mac units, where some items are not fully removed. Check this link: Another known issue, is if you change the name of your computer. Also, check here: More info regarding that code -1116 Hope this helps/makes sense.

Expression Pedal control of HX effects via MC6 pro
datacommando replied to magsterone's topic in Helix
Hi, Have you tried to use the Expression pedal directly connected to your HXFX. Make sure that works properly first, before introducing the Morning Star into the equation- take it one step at a time. Hope this helps/makes sense.
