  1. canerakcil, I also have this problem and have tried various ways to fix it without success. It is most noticeable on the bridge pickup settings for most of the models when using a fair amount of distortion. Especially the Spank and Custom models. The distortion is a must if you want to really hear what is going on. I think there are some people who don't notice it, but for me, it's really noticeable and annoying. I asked my band members if they could hear it. They could not. I tried the following experiment. For the 89F, each individual piezo cable attaches to the PCA. This is only present for Graphtech Ghost systems and allows the cables to be swapped easily. I swapped the cable for the 6th and 5th string to see if the noise moves or stays on the 6th string. It moved to the 5th string which eliminates all hardware/piezo pickup on the bridge. I am convinced it has something to do with the PCA or software. That's as far as I have troubleshot the problem. We really need Line 6's help with this. I love this guitar except for this problem.
  2. the "Play Music" app is the default. It integrates with the streaming online music store. The Amplifi remote app could be written to take advantage of that program. It would be nice to stream a list of songs from the cloud. In general Android is more open in the way it handles media. Each music program can build their own library of where the files are located. Users are not locked into putting their music in obfuscated folders like idevices require. I could go on about the limitations of idevices and music files, but I'll stop while I'm ahead.
  3. I tend to set the DT master volume between 12 and 2 o'clock. The pod master volume is usually around 12 o'clock but I vary it to suit the situation. This has allowed me to get rid of the Dr. Z airbrake I was using. It will be on Ebay soon.
  4. That's why I'm a mechanical engineer who just enjoys the fruits of our hard working software developers. But I figure if they can get flappy bird to work on most versions of android, then they surely can get this simple editor to work as well.
  5. Somewhere out there a smart android programmer will figure out how to create a basic editor. Any volunteers?
  6. 1. I was playing an A/B with bassman pre amp. The sound at first was glorious. Then it faded out with farting noise and then silence. 2. I always have the master at about 12 o'clock and vary the volume with the level on my POD HD500 3. Bias was set per factory at a local service center so it should have been perfect I am willing to try JJ's again, but I will always carry a spare set of tubes and fuses just in case.
  7. My pair off JJ's just blew up last week and took the power supply fuse with them. They lasted maybe 6 months with infrequent playing. I loved the way they sound, but I am curious how they last in the DT25. I am currently running Sovtek tubes which sound pretty good too.
  8. Definitely start with the AC30 as it is class A and has the most dynamics. I have a tube driver boost in front of it to make sure it breaks up when I play harder. You could also try switching a marshall plexi or jtm 45 to class A and see how that works out.
  9. I use the software from a PC. I don't think it's available for Macs. You can use the CopyTrans Manager to drag a drop songs from a windows explorer window to the CopyTrans Manager window. Hit the sync button to send it to your I device, then eject when you are done. Really easy and very small program.
  10. I'm starting to see some good tones. There is a "where the streets have no name" tone that is pretty damn good. Still needs AC-30 needs tweaking to my tastes but the delay is definitely spot on.
  11. You can also use CopyTrans to drag and drop individual songs from your computer to the any I device. It's a great Itunes replacement that is lightweight and simple. It even has a utility to install I device drivers without installing Itunes.
  12. Acoustic models on the DT25 sound ok. You can use one of the preamp models from the HD500 but the higher frequencies won't be present through the DT-25. The Amplifi 150 and 75 are much better at broadcasting through the FRFR speakers.
  13. The Planet Waves autotrims will also work on the JTV-89 and 89F. Drop in replacements with a better mechanism and autotrim is much more convenient.
  14. I had a bluetooth connection problem when I first got the amp. It would connect fine and then loose connection randomly but continue to play music. I then upgraded the firmware and that issue has gone away. I do notice that if you leave the remote app it will lose connection with the amp. When you go back to the remote app it will resync and tell you so in a message box. This sounds like a programmed behavior to me. I also notice that the music will sometimes skip if the remote app is sending information to the amp while changing tones. A bit annoying but I can deal with that. So far I'm mostly enjoying the amp and looking forward to taking it to our band practice.
  15. On the JTV-89F you can unplug individual piezo cables to each saddle. I unplugged the 6th "E" string to check how much string crosstalk occurs through the other peizos. There is definitely some crosstalk. You can still here the low "E" through other saddles. It's quiet in comparison, but still there. I don't know how much effect this has on different tunings.
  16. let me draw you a diagram: 6th string piezo -----------> input 6 = noise on 6th string 5th string piezo -----------> input 5 = no noise on 5th string 6th string piezo -----------> input 5 = no noise on 6th string 5th string piezo -----------> input 6 = noise on 5th string If it was a bad piezo on the 6th string it would always have the noise no matter where I plugged the piezo cable in.
  17. When I swapped the inputs cables the 6th string sounded normal. The noise moved to the 5th string. That tells me it is not a piezo issue. It's a software/hardware issue with the PCA.
  18. The piezo elements have individual wires that run through the baseplate of the bridge and into the control cavity. They terminate in a small 2 pin female connector. Each 2 pin connector is then attached to a male receptacle on the PCA. It is very easy to swap the connectors at this location. No soldering is needed. This does not create any problems because you can just swap back the original position.
  19. The noise stayed with the input. Let me explain. Swapping the 5th and 6th string piezo cables resulted in the noise moving to the 5th string. I may have not explained it very well before.
  20. I have also tried lowering the global string volume. It helps a bit but at the sacrifice of balancing with the other string volumes. The problem is limited to the 6th "E" string. I tried moving the 5th string piezo input to the 6th string input and the noise was then present on the 5th "A" string. That eliminates the piezo element. I think it is a software or PCA hardware issue. I sent my guitar to Line 6 and they said nothing was wrong with it. I agree that this is a specific case of a weird noise, but it really limits the style and how I play.
  21. I have this exact problem as well. I made recordings through the Pod HD500 using a simple JCM patch. The first is with modeling, the second with mag pickups. The other thing I notice is that certain models like the custom bank 1 is very noisy. You can hear swirly digital artifacts when the strings are muted. Please note that these problems are really only noticeable with there is distortion. It's quite annoying to me. I'm not sure everyone can here the clangy, scratchy mechanical noise. Please let me know what you guys hear. Lester JCM Mags JCM Thanks, ice9mike
  22. This is not marketed towards me. I love my dream rig and am now addicted to tube warmth and dynamics. Still I wouldn't mind owning the 75W for practice, but how much of the market share are they missing by not adding an Android compatible app? I would say at least 40%. This Line 6 devotion to iOS is going to cost them dearly if they don't broaden their software platform.
  23. I replaced both EL84's and 12AX7 just as you did and ordered from http://www.eurotubes.com/. They are extremely helpful and actually measure each tube to match them and ensure they are balanced. You pay a little extra for that, but it's worth it. My opinion of the new JJ tubes is that they produce a cleaner sound when pushed hard. They give a little more headroom. The AC30 is more like you would expect from a real AC30. Very nice quality. They also sell an EL844 that lowers that output volume of the power section and causes them to breakup earlier. I have not tried these, but they might be worth getting a pair. You'll have to rebias the tubes to account for the lower power output. I would love to hear any opinions from anyone who has tried these tubes in their DT25.
  24. That switch is more complicated than a standard 3-way switch. It also has digital micro switches to sense the position when in modeling mode. They ride on the switch housing and are toggled by the lever position. I would suggest looking into the control cavity to see if there is an additional backnut on the threaded shaft that would allow further extension if removed.
  25. The block has a rather large circle drilled out of it to allow the piezo cables to pass through it and into the CPU compartment. I'm not sure if the cables are long enough to be routed around a new block. I suppose an upgraded trem block could also have a large circle machined out of it, but that defeats the purpose of the upgrade.
