  1. Using the DT amps in same way as the HD500 is important. I don't want to loose the topology switching.
  2. Is there a release date? and will this have bluetooth for editing via Ipad and Android devices
  3. Is your dreamrig with a DT amp? If so, how do you use the BlackPanel Pete with your dream rig since you must use the full amp? Are there any settings that you have found useful for a DT amp setup? Thanks.
  4. I keep hearing about these special "things" that must be done make the JTV guitars sound right. Is there a secret list of special "things"? How is it that Sweetwater can run these guitars through their 55 point evaluation and setup and not mess up the sound. Do they know about these special "things"? We are not asking for nuclear launch codes, just some basic knowledge on optimizing our guitars. It shouldn't take a trip to the service center and several weeks of waiting to accomplish this. Perhaps an ideal scale entry is needed for this before Line 6 takes us seriously.
  5. After two trips to Line 6 it was never fixed and I was told it was normal by the line 6 techs. The techs at Sweetwater definitely heard my issue and eventually took it back. I got a JTV-69 instead which I am very happy with. I would suggest you take it back and get one without the issue. It's hard to describe the sound until you hear it, but now you know what to look for. Good luck.
  6. You can't dive bomb all the way using the modeling. The strings become slack and don't make enough contact with the piezos. You might be able to compensate a bit by adjusting the bridge height and tilt. My 89F was the same way and I had to refrain from deep dives.
  7. What is your opinion of the graphtech piezo vs the standard LR baggs? Do they sound better, or just different. Also, how are you terminating the graphtech piezo wires to the PCB. Thanks.
  8. In my opinion, the stock Korean JTV-69 tuners do not create enough downward pressure on the higher srings (B, and E). I experienced a high E string that kept jumping out of the nut slot when I first got my JTV-69. I switched to the same hipshot locking tuners that are used on the US version of the JTV-69 and have had no further issues. The string posts on the staggered Hipshot tuners are shorter and that made enough of a difference for me.
  9. How in the world are ball ends making it into the PCB area? I guess if you cut the strings near the bridge, then it's possible. I have little kids around so I'm very careful to make sure the whole string gets recycled. Also, I change strings one at a time as well and never had a problem. It makes tuning up to pitch quicker that way as well.
  10. I use NYXL strings on my JTV69, 59 as well as my Ibanez RG with floyd rose. They work great on all the guitars I've used them one. I don't know if they will last longer than the regular XL strings. I think that is largely up to personal preference and what you consider as the correct time to change strings. I change mine every month or so and just before gigs. I have not had one break in the 6 months I have been using them. Here is the difference that I have seen with NYXL strings. They settle in much quicker than other stings. I normally stretch a new set of strings at every fret on every string to break them in. Usually I repeat this process 2-3 times with other strings. NYXL strings take one time and they seem to hold their tuning a bit better. They are definitely worth a try. Just realize they are 2x the cost of XL strings.
  11. I would like to know the lifetime most are seeing with the JJ tubes in the DT25. Mine lasted about 3 months before blowing out and taking the fuse with them. I did really like to tone of the amp with the JJ's, but have refrained from using them after they blew.
  12. That is an older one. I bought a JTV-69 back in September with a W1308 from Sweetwater. Mine is pretty great. Had some minor setup issues that were easily fixed with some adjustment of the bridge height and saddles adjusted to the radius of the neck. I will say that I am not a big fan of the neck, but I like the fact that you can replace the neck with one from Warmoth, Musikraft, Mighty Mite, etc.
  13. I was just suggesting more models in the Workbench HD software to choose from. Nothing would need to be crammed into the full firmware, just swapped out as desired.
  14. There is definitely a difference in the tones from 1.9 and 2.x firmware. I won't speculate which is better because everyone has different ears. Line 6 could provide us more options going forward. This could be addressed by adding a new body type say '69 stratocaster and '59 stratocaster. They could also provide different single coil pickups for '69 and '59. We like options, not limitations.
  15. Taking out a spring will make the bridge move more during bends. It will feel more spongy. You will of course de-tune other strings when you bend so double stops will be more difficult. Another thing I noticed with my JTV-69 is that it was set up with zero pull up. The bridge was tilted all the way back. I adjusted the screws to allow the baseplate to be flat and parallel to the body. It feels much better this way. To me at least.
  16. I've seen this in other JTV-69's at Guitar Center. It also happened to my JTV-59. Here's what I used to fix the issue permanently. http://www.eclecticproducts.com/e6000_retail.htm They sell it most hardware stores.
  17. I have seen two JTV's at Guitar Center here in Portland. They told me people never play them and they know very little about them. I would also recommend Sweetwater for all the reasons listed above. I also understand the desire to play one before you buy. Good luck on your decision.
  18. I am also a Line 6 user of multiple products (dream rig, AmpliFi 150, pod XT, Pod X3). There comes a point when you have to look at where the industry is developing software. I bought an first gen, refurbished iPad mini to take advantage of the many guitar related and music apps, including the AmpliFi app. Older iPads are not that expensive through ebay or refurbished on CowBoom. I know it's not the solution for all, but it is a legit solution for me.
  19. Definitely lemons out there. I just played a JTV-69 at Guitar Center that was supposedly "New". It sounded okay, but the volume knob did not work at all when using the mag, and the model selector switch top fell out. Never hesitate to send it back or get a replacement. It's annoying, but these guitars are not best in terms of quality control.
  20. So far this feature request on idealscale has 9 votes. Thanks to those who voted!! We need many more votes if you want this as a feature. I would say a minimum of 100 before it gets reviewed by Line 6. So please vote. Thanks. http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Amplifi-Switch-banks-using-volume-knob/644567-23508
  21. This idea has been submitted to ideascale. Please support it: http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Amplifi-Switch-banks-using-volume-knob/644567-23508 Thanks.
  22. You can use the volume knob indicator lights to select the bank. Double tap the tone button, increase or decrease the volume knob, then select A, B, C, or D as usual. This would require counting the indicator lights but that's easy.
  23. I don't think fragmentation is the reason they have no android app. Fragmentation on x86 based PC's is as huge and yet they have developed applications for any PC running windows 7 and 8. They can limit the android app to the last 2 versions of Android to simplify. I think line 6 just doesn't have the programmers for android based apps.
  24. I got mine from Sweetwater and should have returned it at the first sign of trouble, but I decided to try and work through the issue. Big mistake on my part.
  25. Last night was band practice with the "repaired" JTV-89F. It sounded horrible. I actually think it is worse now and even my band mates noticed how awful it sounded. I keep coming back to the fact that my JTV-59 does not sound like this at all. It actually sounds great with no plinky metallic hollow 6th string. I'm going to record some more tracks to compare the two directly with the same setup using just my Dt-25 amp. Psarkissian, I have a serious question for you. Did you really think this guitar sounded fine when you were done with it? I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just trying to understand how this guitar can sound normal to anyone given the incredibly annoying 6th string plinky sound. I have done some experiments on my own to diagnose this issue and found that plugging the 6th string internal piezo cable into 5th string connector slot will remove the plinky sound completely. That tells me that there is no mechanical issue causing this. It is a software or electronics issue. I know you are an experienced tech and I appreciate that you spent the time to troubleshoot this guitar, but it is still broken.
