Yeah your pickups higher output than strat pickups, you will probably need to lower gain too

ha ha a video of a bloke not playing blues or drop tune one finger chords gets the usual dismissive crap. Actually mate, I play some Chic in our set. Best bet is to first search Custometone, funk, Nile Rodgers, soul, clean etc etc. Or use the Fender amps on the HD500. Strange thing though, my main Chic patch is an acoustic patch that came with the pedal. Try and see what you think, add a bit of phaser, chorus, compression, using neck and middle strat pickup and you shouldn't be too far away. Tweak to hell but at least you have a poatch to start tweaking with. Good luck bro

yeah sorry guys just that one clever lollipop in crowd made reference to " so wheres your drummer", funny though pointed at my brother on bass who is actually a session drummer too! Yeah sorry if too aggressive comment. btw what I meant by Marshall and Les Paul is that it narks me that "musicians" still moan about us using HD instead of "real" amps, if things would have gone the way they want we wouldn't have a JCM or overdrive as it was considered the amp was broken. Tell Matt Bellamy or Alex Lifeson not to use technology. In fact thats how first distortion was created...smashed the front of the speaker on purpose, forgot who it was though in the 50's -
Do what i used to do with sound engineers..deliberately turn guitar volume down on guitar and even HD if you have to. Soundcheck..whens its done tweak it back up

Utter bull, my band use backing drums and keys, been in bands for years drummer would be moody, not turn up, keyboard player mucked us about because he wanted a career. We learn and edit the tracks by removing parts we play so with my bro on bass and best mate vocals. Three amigos who would take a bullet for each other. We play from Duran Duran to Chic to Van Halen and Oasis, sick of this snobbery, and you get a player with one Les Paul and Marshall playing same sound pentatonic claiming we are not musicians...ha ha amazing. If drummers wouldnt want a ransom to play we would have one! -
Same Possibilities To Create A Sound As If A Real Amp In My House.
medbad5150 replied to sapalma's topic in POD HD
FRFR, Active PA, I play and practice loud in my house using a crappy Mackie Thump, not the best but it is an active powered PA. The HD500 has the amps, mics, cabs and editing controls, tweak away bro and good luck. Ha ha once your hooked though you will never end the search for tone, trust me..too bassy..too trebly. Differs from venue to venue, at the least the powered monitor will only slightly colour the tone, depending on how much you spend or which PA you buy. Heard the QSC K range are good, and the RCF Art- 6 replies

No cheers mate I know, but I searched months ago for 'Marshall' and hundreds were there for HD500, alarm bells were ringing when I searched again and only four were shown. Some I had even previously downloaded but didn't like were gone. But as the good man says, there must be problems on Custom Tone

Diamond mate many thanks, thought it was just me!

Put in search " Marshall" and about 4 patches come up. Is this right? Sure I searched before and found loads.

When Was The Last Time You Used A Guitar Amplifier Without Hd500?
medbad5150 replied to medbad5150's topic in POD HD
Diamond comments..many thanks I'm onto it, funny how you think sound is right or nearly there with multi effect and just a cord and amp nails it..ha ha okay without the flangers, delays, reverb etc etc..cheers guys much appreciated. -
Good grief, plugged into my Vox VT100 nearly two years since I barely used it. GT10..GT100...VG99..GR33..GR55...AX 2....( well axe 2 is still in learning the kit stage ) HD500 is still the one, used it on Saturday night so still packed in the case. So just took 'one' lead plugged Gibson into it. Hit me like a brick wall! Never heard my Paul sound it, open E wouldn't stop sustaining! Okay amp isn't top of the range but still gob smacked. I've read alot about tone suck and noise gates on the HD but in truth, I read this long ago, so barely go past 15% in the gate, I found even that low, the noise is still eliminated, but now thinking, should I turn it off completely. I also use strats so thats where the problem is gonna be, but goes to show, how far these things still have to go to match a half decent amp and a cord. Another idea, which I've read so much about, could I use the amp and just use the effects ( although in truth the GT100 effects kill the HD500 ) and switch off HD amps. Excuse my ignorance but the last time I tried was with Marshall Vintage Modern combo and GT10....failed miserably! Eg Three cable or four? Bypass, switch this off and that on etc etc.. Lol, all said and done, next gig will see HD500 take its place onstage, but just wondering how I could match a proper amp sound btw I tweak to death, and read this forum everyday.. Very grateful for any ideas..thanks

Hd500 With Ev Zlx12p Or Stagesource L2m Opinions?
medbad5150 replied to edstar1960's topic in POD HD
Mate is a dj and singer in my band he let me use the ELX112P for as long as I wanted while he used Mackie Thumps. I used it with Axe 2, HD500, GT10 and could not get rid of the overall boom bass, unless I tweaked the modellers to death. I'm using the cheaper Mackie now but the ELX were rated but not in my opinion, bass heavy. Mind you I've heard they sound great if you have it at volume 11! Don't know though what the new ELX are like. -
I've got USA VG Strat and many other guitars some with SD SSL pickups, the Fenders always sound weak compared, what I usually do is download a customtone associated with people like SRV, or Richie Blackmore and just tweak from there. Funny though I'm still searching, but then again..I suppose we all are! Don't know how hot your pickups are mate, compressors, the boost pedals, or even EQ can all help, but give it a go. Good luck
-
ha ha..not laughing at ya mate, cos it is complicated to start, thing to remember is that you can never make a serious mistake, there is always factory prest and this superb forum.....patronising intended!
-
Ha ha..that's why I commented on users asking for constant HD updates careful what you wish for!. I am tired of updating my Axe 2, yeah it is better, but not when I'm after a crappy Black Sabbath bootleg guitar sound lol. I just update every couple of months or so. No honest, I've been on my HD500 heavy recently, would never risk my Axe in some venues we play..fights..beer flying..and that's only the band!
-
Stupid and obvious but don't think anyones tried it, listening to Rush Jacobs Ladder live, not only is his flange an electric mistress, but seems to have two swooshes, I am using two flangers both the same but one with settings a little lower than the other, proper jet sound and actually louder now.
-
hurghanico many thanks fella, awesome sound and playing, but thats exactly what I mean is all the Hiwatt have to little gain, not trying to get Slipknot gain but you know what I mean, many thanks, yours is still a great patch though!
-
Spot on Oehman! Both Townshend and Lifeson get awesome drive from it, even mine to 100 drive and amp setting is nowhere near, Jandrio bless ya I'm on your patch tomorrow, thanks for all help, much gratitude!
-
downloaded all patches to Hiwatt custometone...not even near..any ideas? Worked on mine again close but no cigar
-
Throwing myself again at the mercy of you all. Scoured youtube and google, everyone seems to use the Highway100 for clean only, but great overdriven sounds from original DR103 on the tube. Tried creating my own for early Townshend and Lifeson overdrive but mine always sound rubbish, tried screamer, tube comp, tube drive, blue boost..any ideas please?

How 2 Make My Electric Guitar Sound Sort Of Acoustic?
medbad5150 replied to tochiro's topic in POD HD
True, only Variax sounds decent, and thats on acoustic setting, my VG strat sounded terrible funnily enough my split coil JB sounded okay on single coil setting, maybe thats the answer. -
Don't worry mate, I had this problem, it was driving me mad, save volume at 12 O Clock, go away from patch and back in and it was back to 2PM again, It's in the volume pedal parameters mate. If it was saved at 100%, it will not change unti you go into amp parameter and change volume to say..70%..hit save and it is done, I only learned through trial and error, good luck, if you are struggling, I will wiz downstairs and try to give you step by step guide.

How 2 Make My Electric Guitar Sound Sort Of Acoustic?
medbad5150 replied to tochiro's topic in POD HD
Obvious question, but have you tried any of the acoustic patches? I use mine with the Variax acoustic setting ( I know you can't do this on normal electric) and sounds superb. -
RIBLUES I think you can see where I'm coming from, the Dallas-Arbiter Rangemaster Treble Booster is a classic pedal, nobody can argue this, didn't Tony Iommi also use one of these? Bentvicar has a valid point, but surely Boss, Digitech, Line 6, must have had some serious deliberation and meetings about what pedals to include without missing out on an obvious classic. Selfishly, I would love the Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress Flanger, but that's the way the ball goes

No offence mate, but I've been playing nearly 25 years, love from Bieber to Black Sabbath, all styles of music and guitar, and never heard of the Tycobrahe Parapedal Wah. I've said before (not meaning you), These companies emulate or recreate amps and pedals which defined guitar sounds, From Eddies Plexi to SRV to Vai. In a nutshell, If I haven't heard of it, there is a good chance that it is in the small niches of diehard tones that HD owners want only from selfish view, or cos their fav band/guitarist uses one. I'm not a wiki on pedals or amps, but 25 years of guitar shows and exhibitions, have given me a good perespective mate. ( Now I've said that, I bet the next update will include the Tycobrahe Parapedal Wah!)
