I believe its a clock algorithm in the firmware. I believe I raised another idea, asking for a clock reference parameter, which is what the Helix Rack has. Either way, both models have unstable digital outputs. Had I known about this beforehand, I would have spent the money on another guitar.

So did I: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/AES-OUT-dropout-needs-fixing/872928-23508#idea-tab-comments

If it is, then I want a rebate for the lack of reliable digital I/O and having been twice promised this would be fixed.
-
Yep. Got it, thanks :)

Looked again. I'm not seeing it.
-
I see the hardware has been upgraded to 2.50, which includes the extra effects. I hope they add these to Native.

OK, got one. I've found that placing the Freqout in a mono FX loop, placing that block at the start of the Helix signal path and bypassing that FX loop, and bypassing the Freqout, the Freqout was still bringing hiss into the signal. I wound up having to put it between the guitar and the Helix's guitar input instead. I didn't want to turn down the gain on anything.

I have one mono FX loop spare on my Helix... What I would like to do is mimic the Sustainiac pickup found in the 2006 Jackson DK2S guitar. I used to own one. The circuit board took up the entire control cavity and required a 9V battery to run. Its more like a an e-bow and feedbacker. Can I get the same effect with the Freqout?

For those of you who might need a little help with the 2.30 update:
wilkinsi replied to GlennDeLaune's topic in Helix
I didn't bother reading, and just did the update. All previous updates have insisted that I reset my Helix, which wipes its memory (press and hold FS9+10 whilst powering up), otherwise preventing the Helix from working properly. I wasn't aware that the backup/restore in HX Edit would retain any master EQ or output settings. As a result, my Helix sounds a lot quieter than it was on 2.21. lollipop! Never mind. Here's to another several months of tone chasing.- 26 replies

Pah! I was told by L6 Support this would be fixed by 2.30 (I can post the response from that ticket for those who doubt me). This is extremely frustrating. I didn't expect everything to also sound quieter to my ears, but it does. I can see the difference on my audio interface too. I do like the look of the 2.30 Helix Edit app though. This should suit my 27" monitor (not allowed to have it until Xmas  ).

I upgraded to OS X 10.13 High Sierra last week. All day yesterday, I could not use the Line 6 Updater, yet the Helix editor still worked. They are now both working. Could this be coincidence, or is 10.13 trying to fight off the L6 driver?

The Helix and Eventide are two different beasts. The Eclipse will always be better at dynamics, pitch shifting, reverb, modulation and delay, but its distortion/guitar type programs/algorithms are far too quiet and most of those suck. I like the Particle Reverb in Helix, which can be programmed to sound reminiscent of an Eventide, but it lacks the same spacious character. I have since sold my Eclipse and bought two H9's. I like to be able to control my gear from a computer, rather than staring at a tiny two row display on a rack mount processor. I would love to be able to afford an H9000, but that's never going to happen.

Thanks. I think I will just stick with trying to control it via MIDI.

I want to use the CV Out to send commands from the expression pedal to my Eventide H9, but I don't know what value to use. I read the H9's manual: "An external Expression Pedal can be connected to the rear panel 1â„4†stereo phone jack labeled “EXPâ€. The Expression Pedal can be set up to control any combination of parameters. For proper operation the Expression Pedal should be a simple linear taper resistive potentiometer (“potâ€) with a maximum value of between 5k Ohms and 25k Ohms. Refer to www.eventide.com for information on recommended expression pedals." So, 1) is the built in EXP pedal on Helix compatible, and 2) what do I change the CV Out value to? I don't want to damage anything. Thanks.

As stated earlier, Line 6 won't have a fix for this until v2.3.0. Until that is released, all Helix/Helix Rack users will continue to have this issue.
-
L6 say this will be fixed in v2.30, but no ETA. I can't wait, so I've bought Native. I would still like to see this fixed very soon. And I mean VERY!

I was under the impression that if I couldn't do this on a Boss GT-10/GT-100, it wouldn't be possible on Helix, but it is. Was this intentional, or is it a bug no-one has mentioned before? I get the impression my Helix crashes more ever since I accidentally overwrote a factory preset in Set List 1, and was wondering if anyone else experienced this.

Lots of gateway error 504's (every man and his dog must've been trying to get it)... finally downloaded, installed no problem. Working in MOTU Digital Performer 9.13. If I wasn't jobless, I'd buy it now. I'm hoping that when I buy it, I don't have to keep signing in every time I want to use this plugin. My internet connection isn't particularly great....

I tried the MMC template in Reaper and it worked. But Reaper doesn't make it easy or obvious to carry out other tasks.
-
Yep - MIDI monitor in DP9 shows MIDI input from Helix is always ch16, even if I change it on Helix.
-
As a general rule, is MMC transmitted through the Helix USB OUT? If the answer is no, then I need to get myself a USB/MIDI interface. If the answer is yes, then I'm not sure why this isn't working.
-
I already found and checked the "enable MMC" box in DP9. I may have to try MIDI CC or CC toggle instead. I am still in contact with MOTU Tech Support regarding this matter.
