...you aren't supposed to swell and get dirtier in church.
-
....fastest update ever!

Yep ... its pretty darned slick. Those instant commands can send patch changes (even via bank settings) and CC commands, to any MIDI channel. Its quite flexible, so you should have no problem sending all you need to put the DT50 into a known state for any given Helix patch.
-
....squeaky wheel gets the grease. Lets flood the forum with MIDI questions! Seriously, I bet you there are more MIDI-Helix users out there than you might guess. There are a couple of serious MIDI and Audio-USB problems that need to be addressed, and I hope will — as a priority to adding another boutique amp.
-
why not just provide the ability to "name" ins, outs, sends, and returns?
-
Y :) A :) Y!

Title says it all ... Is there a way in the beta Editor to copy a block with all of its settings, and paste it into a path on a different preset?
-
Holy mackerel, dude!!! Took that song to a whole nutha level. Curious .... just got a Variax Standard .... what gauge strings (and brand) have you settled on?
-
HonestOpinion, thanks for all the good advice. As I mentioned, I got everything working splendidly. Had to do a bit of Send Out routing trickery, as Helix only allows one Output block, so I was using those up for USB.
-
Actually, you can get a pretty decent vocal doubler doing just as you say. But a vocal harmonizer is needed (with formants to avoid chipmunk effect), and with hard tune. And Lachdanan wants his vocoder!

The singing guitarists are restless tonight...

I was kidding too. ;)

Totally disagree. I wisely bought this unit because it had XLR microphone input as well as guitar and Variax input. Right now its 99% guitar effects. Those of us who use microphone input are just asking for a measly 5% or so. Besides, the user decides which blocks they want to use, so it doesn't hog a guitarists bandwidth.

@gunpointmetal --- why do PC users feel they must make such Mac comments? Is it because the opportunity to do so is rare, so they rush to take advantage of the situation? Is it because they're jealous that the vast majority of creatives in the music and film industry use Macs? Is it because they're forced to be accountants and tax preparers? ;) White collar conservative flashin' down the street Pointin' their plastic finger at me. They're hopin' soon my kind will drop and die but I'm gonna wave my freak flag high.

Yes, agreed. Line 6 focus has been on guitar, but the vocal processing potential of the Helix is untapped. It could easily surpass the FX found on the TC Helicon vocal processors.
-
....cool solutions by Mr. Rees. Its amazing the MIDI spec and stuff works as well as it does (pre USB!) and has been so long-lived. I remember my first MIDI interface was a Kawai MIDI Patchbay; 4 ins a 8 outs with sliders to assign the routing. Crazy! Line 6 has been responsive to major bugs so far ... lets hope this glitch is resolved soon. Its an incredibly powerful piece of equipment.

Doing it now, thanks Peter. UPDATE: updating to 10.11.4 made no difference in slider response. They're still sluggish.
-
...also seeing slow response using the editor sliders, on a MacBook running OSX 10.11.3, with no other apps or weird processes running.
-
...not seeing how that could be done either, but I could see how it might be useful if you've got a bunch of external MIDI gear. If its a must for you and you can find no Heilx way, your could use an external box like a MIDI Solutions Event Processor to add a PC command when it receives a CC. Expensive, but I bought one years ago and it has proven to be flexible for all sorts of odd situations. Its lightweight, and the Helix DIN port will power it.
-
Well, a MIDI interface could be something as simple as a DIN-to-USB or USB-to-DIN MIDI converter. And the Helix does USB and DIN MIDI in an out. Plus MIDI "thru." And MIDI channel assign. So, one would expect it could pass a MIDI stream between its DIN and USB ports without corrupting or changing the content, right? I'm hoping this issue(s) will be fixed. I haven't fully tapped into the MIDI and USB potential of the device yet, but plan to and hope to avoid surprises.

Thanks, silverhead. Makes sense, and it sounds like that should work. I'll give it a try.... Update: Oh yeah! It works great! Since I used USB 3/4 and USB 5/6 for the outputs, I stuck a Send 3 Out block on each path to use for my PA mono out. My gosh this beast is flexible! You can actually use this thing as a mult-track mixer AND record the multitracks to DAW via USB. Outrageous.

Superb re-creation and facial expressions!

I am using my Helix sort of like a mixer, with 4 separate instruments on 4 separate paths (1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B). Each path is assigned to mono XLR out, to a PA. Works great. But, I would love to be able to record each path separately via USB. Is there any way to assign (for example) single-channel USB outs separately to each path? Either dry (at input, preferred) or after fx blocks (at output)? Sort of like: Path 1A -----> record USB 3 Path 1B ----> record USB 4 Path 2A ----> record USB 5 Path 2B ----> record USB 6 Thanks.

I'd really like to see a Learn Command function in the editor, as I control a lot of FX parameters with a MIDI controller, and it would make it much easier to design my presets.

Switching to a PC would immerse me back into the pain hell I escaped from.
