    Tuner

Conceptually, that's easy but in practice, not so much.Anyone here remember the tuner on the old XTLive? I hated that pedal but I thought the tuner was, and still is, the best tuner I've seen on a pedal. Can we have that tuner back please?
  2. Not really asking. Honestly, unless it they're giving us better usability, a more stress free upgrade method and useful features, I'm gonna stay put in 2.11.

    Tuner

In retrospect, I don't think I had any issues with the older version of the tuner and this may be a perfect example of what can sometimes go wrong when a company does listen to its customers. Not that I'd ever want them to stop. Maybe more careful scrutiny over the things people ask for. Yeah, I can hear the old adage about hindsight in my head now.

Strobe tuners aren't great either. They're fine for use on a luthier's bench but for live, forget it. A better comparison is with the cheap little Snark tuners and the TC Polytune. You don't hear many people complaining about their accuracy and I too have made far too many excuses for the Helix's tuner. My Polytune now resides in the Helix's case because, I'm sorry, the Helix's tuner is a complete utter crap fest by comparison.
  5. Precisely what I'm trying to avoid. It shouldn't be necessary.
  6. I've played with all that quite a bit. You don't quite get there. Imagine a clean Fender sound with all of its sparkle and sheen but with the sustain characteristics of a dimed Marshall. The high cut especially, removes all the sheen and detail that I want to retain. The sag, master and a compressor helps to some degree but not as much as I'd like. I also find power tube distortion adds a different kind of buzz to the sound but it's still buzz and I want less of it.
  7. If we could somehow reduce the buzziness of overdriven amp sounds I think that would help solve the problem. I'd love it and I'm thinking that because the Helix lives in the digital world, why couldn't it be done?

    Tuner

On a lark, I decided to use my TC Polytune Clip this weekend... never used the Helix's tuner again the rest of the night.
  9. Yup. Pretty much. That and the fact that so far, no microphone, no matter how flat, can capture and convey sound the way our ears do.
  10. I'm right there with you. Also, ever since the first time I played through a real tube amp, I was disappointed that I couldn't get the sounds I heard in my favorite recordings.
  11. Not sure how much a DSP meter will actually help. However, I think that if they gave us a maximum total DSP usage number per path and gave each effect/model was accompanied by a DSP usage number, you could plan your effects chain accordingly. Just an idea.
  12. Indeed. And I, being a very happy Helix owner, am also very interested in the Atomic Amplifire.
  13. Agreed. Just because you don't normally use those tones doesn't mean that you're not curious about them and maybe want a good starting point. He's asking about a tone that has obviously peaked his interest. Just because this is a Line6 Helix forum it doesn't mean that people can't post about other modelers. It's not at all disrespectful. That is unless you believe that posting about other modelers is sacrilege and is tantamount to worshipping another modeling deity in the Holy Church of Helix.
  14. mikisbAnd I uprooted yours... ages ago I guess. I did a search before I posted my idea but didn't find any results but anyway... Thanks for the up vote.
  15. I've proposed a solution for this here; https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Variable-Mic-Axis-and-Position-options/872296-23508
  16. I'm not opposed to having a backup rig that sounds a little differently than my regular rig. If it weren't for the lack of an expression pedal, I wouldn't be hesitating now and get one.
  17. I'd love a backup for my Helix and was toying with the idea of the Helix LT, but this is tempting.

    SlideRIG

I own a SlideRig. Sounds really cool and is lots of fun but it is fairly noisy. To be expected I guess. In the digital modeling world, I wish we could have our cake and eat it too - same sound, less noise.
  19. Still on 2.11 and staying there for a while. Nothing compelling enough in 2.20 for me. Even though I've managed to submit 33 ideas in IdeaScale, I'm actually quite happy with the Helix the way it is and don't want to run the gauntlet of the upgrade procedure. Unless one of my 33 wishes comes true that is.
  20. Bias-x and ripple the only ones that are too subtle to me but I have not played with them on every amp model in the Helix, just the ones I use or gravitate towards.
  21. Actually it's the other way around. When you turn up the Sag, you're increasing compression. It feels looser because the bass notes tend to mush together more - great for that bluesy feel but not so good for metal chugging. The less compressed setting is actually with the Sag turned down. This is like an amp with lots of headroom in the power stage and hardly gets saturated enough to sag and compress.
  22. I find that the bias can make a difference in some amps but not so much on others. I can't remember which amp model it was but I remember not liking the sound when I change the bias setting in either direction from the default. Others seem to allow you to change the raspiness of the amp. At least, that's what I hear.
