Maybe you just like the way the Axe-FX user had his tones tweaked and didn't like the Helix user's settings. The real test would be to set both up to sound as close as possible. Then you can make an informed decision.

Well, I was positioned near the grill so oil and other particulates are in the air. Actually, even when I play mainly indoors, there still some accumulation of schmutz on the beast. I don't know shy. I can understand the spittle spots 'cause I sing but the other stuff...

😂 Yeah, a Pfaff or Singer logo would not be out of place.

This may be trivial and a matter of aesthetics but I can't stand the looks of the Kemper. That instrument panel looks like it should be on a sewing machine not a guitar amp.

When you spend as much or more money on its competition and you know... you KNOW that the sonic differences are like splitting hairs, and then you see the flexibility, the ease of use becomes the tipping point. The ease of use will put some people over the edge because it's like a b1tch slap to their decision not to buy the Helix. Some will feel compelled to trash talk the Helix.

Whew! Glad for that.

Wow! Thanks for all the suggestions, guys! I've always hesitated using Windex because of its ammonia content. I've ruined a pair of anti-glare glasses by using Windex and or soap. Both have ammonia. I knew a guy who did window tinting for a living and he used Windex soaked paper towels to remove the old window tinting film from cars. He also advised me to never use Windex on tinted windows because of the ammonia.

robbie61, Windex really? And it hasn't damaged the finish? Well... ok, I'll try it if I get desperate. What do you say, digital_igloo?

Noooo. Me likely pretty! 🤓

Anybody got any suggestions on a safe cleaning solution that won't eat away at the Helix's markings or paint? Mine is really grimy from playing a lot of outdoor gigs this summer. I've tried just a damp cloth but that doesn't seem to work that well. One the thing that is particularly difficult to clean is the expression pedal itself. I wonder if a computer screen cleaner would work. Is alcohol too harsh? Any thoughts?

But does the connector on the Helix still work?

Thanks, man.

Nice track. I can hear just a tiny bit more upper mids (around 2k) on the Native clip but otherwise, pretty similar. Is there a difference in feel between the two? If yes, is it significant? Thanks for doing this, by the way.

Got Yamaha DXR10 for Helix, made loud pop sound. Damage?

Always follow this power-up sequence. Power up the sources first - Guitar Modelers, Synths, Mixers. Always power up the speakers and/or amplifiers last. Of course the power down sequence is the exact opposite - Speakers and amps first, then the other devices. -
If you're thinking that compression will hide a buzzy or farty sound, I guarantee you it will not. Compression will only make those sounds more apparent. A heavily compressing amp will not just bring down the really loud parts, it also has the tendency to make the softer parts more easily heard.

I think Jos_K covered this when he talked about compression. I would only add that if the JC-120 model had more sag, I'd probably use it more.

I only ever use one guitar at a time at gigs but I do take a different guitar every now and then. I just setup specific set lists tailored to each of my guitars.
