  1. This is a good PDF on the Series Vs Parallel Wiring. I always go to this when I'm working on speaker cabinets. http://cie-wc.edu/Series_Parallel_9_14.pdf
  2. Your Right! I have to hand it to them 'cause everytime I let someone know of my experience I give them that credit. I truly believe they want to and are trying to help me but at the same time someone here paid full price, or close to it, for an amp that just isn't up to par for whatever reason. Still my hats off to the guys at Line 6 in Calabasis and Line 6 in general for making it possible for me to learn guitar in a fun way. I also am still using a TonePort UX2, an X3 Pro, and a Spider Jam from 2008....oh yeah and a TonePort GX which all still work great.
  3. They're going to try to fix this one again and after that the staff agreed that if I have issues again they would give me the option of a Euro DT50, which they would switch out the power supply, or a U.S. DT25HD B stock. I know they're trying to help me here and am grateful for that. I just have a difficult time believing I have gotten so many bad tubes. I at least know they replaced the main board twice and have a hard time believing I've got 3 bad boards. Lastly, I know my DT25 ext. cabinet and cable are good. I checked with an ohm meter before hooking it up every time and I've also been using it with my Jet City Picovalve for long hours for months now, I realize the Picovalve isn't a DT50 but it works great in that application.
  4. Your Welcome, I hope you get your working again. I recall this with mine....I got it as a gift, I needed to learn how to use it which took a-lot of reading before even getting to the point of powering it up for any length of time, I also had an HD500 previous to the DT50 and was learning how to use it, I also was learning how to play guitar for the fist time. Add all those things up and I had the DT50 for months before really getting to use it. When I finally started to really use the DT50 it was 2-4 hours here and there. After about 4 months of this it started to give problems with sound just dropping out, then coming back after cooling. Went back and fourth like this for a few days and finally didn't work at all. I learned what to do with the simple things like fuses, which checked good and so I replaced the tubes and it worked long enough to bias them and play guitar for about 15 minutes and then the sound just faded. This was when I ended up sending it back. I created a thread on it in an effort to document my experience.
  5. I'm not thinking the temp is the issue because the last time I got it back from Line 6 it never worked, lol, not a peep. The particular one I've got has been back to them 3 times in 3 months. There's something going on with mine and I've got hard time believing it's tubes, fuses or the normal issues associated with a tube amp. Recently, someone here posted how he fixed his DT50 and part of the solution was to re-solder a trace on one of the boards which is more evidence in the area of board issues. He had other issues, I recall included a capacitor, etc. Things always break at the weakest link. Check out RPascarella 's thread. Here's a link to the post I'm referring too >> http://line6.com/support/topic/10123-dead-dt50-repair-fun/?p=96518
  6. Sounds like the weakness is in the card itself, uuuughhh. I realize you've got a DT25 but everytime I've had issues with my DT50HD before I did anything else I checked all the fuses, 4 buss fuses total, they always tested good with an ohm meter too. Anyway mine is on the way back to the tech dept as we speak.
  7. Good One Aris, AhhhAhhhhAhhhhAhhhhhh
  8. I wasn't aware you were trying to run the iTunes through the signal chain. They way I use it, it's separate, monitor through USB only. If you want to run it through the signal chain your going to have to run your iTunes signal though a guitar input, line input or the fx loop. After that your going to have to adjust your effect block settings the way you want. I did this once fooling around with the effects to see how I could get whatever tune I was playing to sound. It was fun but I haven't done that in while now, lol.
  9. Your Welcome, I wouldn't read too much into the customtones you download 'cause you just never know what the creator had in mind unless they release all the details. Sometimes you can get lucky but mostly I think it's a great way to store back ups of your own tones and get a look at how others create a tone. This can spark ideas sometimes. As for your ears, lol, we all probably have some degree of loss. :)
  10. I'm sure you could get close or right on with the HD500's Parametric EQ to cut the annoying frequencies. If after you do that the volume is cut, you can boost it with a straight up Studio EQ by placing it post Para EQ and increasing it's gain. PeterJH did a good video demonstration on the cutting of frequencies with the Parametric EQ.
  11. Why not?!! I do that sort of thing. I use my UX2 or X3 Pro into the HD500.
  12. Somehow that just makes sense to me. I won't hold you to it though. Thanks for sharing that "DI".
  13. Your right. Adversley consumers do not usually think in terms a commercial business does.
  14. Good One "H"! Thanks for sharing that. The part about using the Parametric EQ after the amp sim to cut annoying frequencies and/or using the D-Esser before the amp sim are very good things to know. I use them almost all the time especially when using my UX2. I look at like this...."The guitar is like a Trojan Horse...you get more than you asked for". So cutting is imperative.
  15. I can understand your post and I'm not really an expert either although I have quite a bit of experience. I may not be able to help you with this but If I have something to convey I'll post it. The one thing that I can say that might help is "Never give up trying". If you have trouble back off, come back later and try again. Whenever I had software issues I couldn't figure out I backed off, plugged my guitar into an amp and played guitar so I didn't waste too much of my time with troubleshooting. Good Luck and Have Fun.
  16. First make sure the pod is the default playback device. You may have to adjust the monitor setting in the Line 6 midi settings area of your computer. I'm pretty sure you can set the Master volume on the pod in its own settings to control all outputs. I'm having trouble recalling. Lol, but you can check it out by pressing and holding the output button on the pod to get to those settings.
  17. How are you routing your iTunes? Through the cd jack or through USB? I think if your routing into the CD jack you should have control at the device such as an iPod. If your going from USB you'll need to adjust the settings in the line 6 device setting area namely monitor level.
  18. I run the 1/4" outs of my pods set to "line" as opposed to "Amp" into powered speakers. Exactly what model speakers do you have? What kind of inputs do the speakers have?
  19. I do that with a UX2, X3 Pro and HD500 as long as the speakers are powered your good to go. I play iTunes through a Spider Jam and even though it's mono it still sounds pretty dang good, lol.
  20. Great idea and well stated. I agree . Time to vote on it at idea scale.
  21. Glad I could help and your welcome! The reason I was using GearBox or PodFarm was so that I could use the reverb and other effects I have in the software that I don't have in the HD500. Your absolutley right though you can can just direct the signal to your DAW of choice and be good. Rock On!
  22. Thanks for posting about your AXE FX II XL+. I always like reading about other peoples experiences with these sorts of processors. I found it all very interseting. Good Luck and have fun with your new tone processor. I'm sure you'll be posting some sound tracks in the future. This is what I've been doing from time to time except I run the HD500 1/4 outs into a TonePort UX2 Line inputs or KB37 Line inputs and record stereo using GearBox or PodFarm. Works great for me. The more I work with cutting offending frequencies with EQ's the happier I am. Although from time to time I like the sound of a raw amp.
  23. I'm pretty sure the DT line is at an end as I've very recently had an opportunity to get an exchange from Line 6 but they can only offer me B stock DT25HD U.S. model and DT50HD Europe model. Most Likely anything you see online is the last of them. Also I'm pretty sure Line 6 staff told me they're discontinued.
  24. Good Going Randy, Thanks for the update. Thumbs Up to ya!
