Can't decide on neck
sulkbooth replied to sulkbooth's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Narrow won't be a problem, I got used to the JTV-89 :D So the maple neck and rosewood neck have the same specs? -
true models on jtv

I could also do this when I have the time, I have these guitars: Warmoth Stratocaster with (I think) Kinman SSS pickups Custom built Telecaster with SSH configuration, Texas Special Single Coils (don't remember the humbucker. The guitar is from '83) -
I'm changing my JTV-89 for a 69, I'm more of a Strat (or Tele) guy. :) I've found a black 69 with maple neck, anyone know how this is compared to a rosewood? Are they the same sizes? :D I think my dream guitar would be a white with Maple neck, but havent seen one. :)

It havent happened to mine again, but I havent had the time to play much lately either. Anyone have it for the second time? Havent heard more from Line6 on the ticket either, after describing the error.

Of the suggestions over, I have no interest in besides the Optical output. I would have apreciated one :) The disadvantage as I can see (whole HD series) is the lack of multi USB channels like the former X3 series had. There should really be a possibility to add through USB (dry+wet output)
-
just to chime in, mine was also connected to USB when it happened. And HD edit was open.
-
DrFix, do you have a "normal" guitar or a Variax? I have a JTV Variax and used ut when it happened. I did not change the patch either at the time. I was just playing (using my FBV Express MKii so I could not use "stompbox" either)

This happened to me as well, yesterday. HD Pro with new FW 2.62 and all expansion packs. I have reset the unit after FW install, but not after installation of expansion packs. Had to power cycle unit, then it disappeared (for now... ) Lucky me, I'm just using it my home studio, so I'm not dependent on the Pod in a live setting. That would really be a problem :o
-
I'll give it until the end of next week before we start to moan about "only 3 expansion packs available"... :P
-
Yes, I did. And they sound fantastic. I was after the Vintage and the Bass pack, so I cant say anything of the metal pack. But the JC120 was just what I wanted. And the SVR bass amp sounded quite well to my ears also. (well, back to more playing!)
-
Working perfectly here, HD500. New packs as well, i bought them all :P
-
Sooo, there has been one week. :P
-
Link doesnt work, but other than that: happy to see something is happening :D

OK, my interpretation of reamping is to record a completely dry signal. With my HD500 I do this wasily, SPDIF out dry. Record it simultainously with the wet output. This I do so I can send the dry recording back to my HD500 if I'm not happy with the guitar or bass sound later in the recording process.

A good place to start would be to describe what reamping is/does :) and why you should do it. For those who don't know, I mean :)

jtv 89f neck replacement
sulkbooth replied to bobwilken's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
:) I'll refrase :D If you already have a guitar which plays perfectly (for you) and you are loving it, it will be cheaper to do a Variax transplant. Not easier  -

The easiest and cheapest would be to transplant the Variax hardware to a guitar that you already have and like... :) -
just for fun and since I'm a bit nosy, should we make a list of those?

JTV 1/4" outputs - buffer question
sulkbooth replied to ColonelForbin's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Could it be tested with recording both the mags and the variax sound into a DAW, and see the difference in ms? -
Good point :) BTW, it seems it is set to External clock, since the Roland is forced down to 44.1khz when he connects the SPDIF?
-
My bad :D The advanced manual says: "Sample Rate (Knob 2): Selects the sample rate: 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz or 96kHz. When connecting to another device’s S/PDIF input, always be sure to set both units to utilize the same sample rate"
-
Yes, if your HD500 is set to a different sample rate than your interface, you are asking for issues :) If you absolutely want to record in 96khz, you have no other option than to use the analog out of the HD500, AFAIK.
