  1. Then something has to give right? Use it for what it does now, not what you think it should do...By all means discuss it and send Line 6 a feature request, but I would suggest that you try not to hold your breath on this one. One way you could work around the need for 8 (or more) FX in the chain is to 4CM an HDPro, M-13....Heck and M-5 would give you the 8th effect and you could have spring reverb all the time...Line 6 is not always going to solve all your issues and yes, they want you to have GAS...
  2. nothing more than a midi interface and midi cables are required...OS is discretionary.
  3. "Outside you can see the difference, inside you can feel the difference."
  4. nasty loud squeals....hmmmm.....how old is the glass in that amp....A lot of glass in there...
  5. Goods news....I am all for a rematch...Colin is a monster...But then so is Julio.... I am still a Vick fan and I hope he finally gets things going this season.
  6. I also heard thru the poison ivy vine that the eagles were actually not going to suck this year... :D
  7. No problem...I hope you solve your issue AND the the Falcons beat you guys this year... :)
  8. hmmmm.....Not too sure what to tell you.....some guesses 4u.... Java JRE is up to date? Have you tried a different USB 2.0 cable (most all of them are these days)? You said everything is updated on your computer....Does that include the BIOS firmware and chipset drivers? Windows Update doesn't tell you that. Only other thing I can suggest is to try a different computer....
  9. My opinion is fix the root cause...Pick out a decent stacked humbucker (hot rails or something) and put that in your guitar...Simulating a humbucker with a single coil is akin to simulating a woman's specific body part with your hand...jus' sayin' ;)
  10. So now you guys know the criteria... B)
  11. The thing that really stinks about text is that it can be very difficult to convey context... Now please stop spreading your "Wisdow" all over the place...That just sounds gross...
  12. If your patches are stereo, you can run into some weirdness with a post looper....the looper buffer is mono and your post tone is summed mono...so the playback is always a bit different in that regard depending on the patch...If your looper is set pre, well that's your problem...
  13. I had a drummer named Dorian once...
  14. Yes, I am an Expert. But that is only be cause I used to be attractive...Nothing to do with what I know... :D
  15. Sorry, I did not mean to imply that I thought OO was the only way to do it....I was just making a complexity observation contrasting the two approaches you alluded to (vst vs embedded)...developed in the same timeline....embedded will generally always have less features...at least that has been my experience. But I have never written code in music industry...simply not enough money in it. Just that the complexity of the implementation is greatly reduced in a higher level OO language as compared to a procedural approach like optimized assembly that is unique to the chip itself...I have not seen an embedded version of amplitube....Seems that the VSTs are always a bit more flexible than embedded stuff...just an observation...I know that I can get more features in the same timeline using C++ than I could doing...say....8051 assembly....
  16. Ha! good one....that's always seems to be the case bro...guitar players are basically a$$holes by default...Now you guys don't go getting pi$$ed by that and realize I am calling myself an a$$hole.
  17. The Live cabs can actually save you from having to add an EQ...basically, that is what a cab model is...It is how Line 6 designed the system to reproduce the amp...No Cab is nice to have for some tones, but I have found the live models really help me get an amp model matched to the speakers I use without have to use excessive EQ which adds all kinds of phase artifacts that aren't so nice...less rad the better I find... Certainly a patch hierarchy where some models remain while other change would be really cool...Certainly is an OO way to think about it and very easy to write in C++, C# and even in Java as big of piece crap that framework has turned out to be...Firmware is a totally different animal...Takes a lot longer to write optimized firmware and speed is the name of the game at the data rates the HD is running...A lot more limitations than writting code for a PC or a Mac....It would be great, but I think that sorta stuff is more reserved for the Software based stuff than embedded at this time in this industry...totally different worlds...But then most software developers skipped Assembly... :)
  18. Personally, I am hoping for an update that will allow the POD to make sandwiches...Tuna Salad and Steak & Cheese are my initial "Expectation". :P
  19. You are most welcome. Really great to hear that there are some Flexy users still out there... Not really sure what I am going to do but I usually post any mods I do...I would not be the first to close off the back of a Flexy...I think there are some posts in the old forum archive on that...Several years ago that was all the rage. I went a slightly different route and modified mine to support an added 212 cab and keep the internal speakers on...I don't drag the cab around for it anymore...So one thought is to load it with Jenson Jet Tornados like my other amps (4 lbs) and close the back....But I might just make a head box for it and use a cab I already have...still on the fence on that one...
  20. It is a fairly simple concept and it applies the HD PODS as well as the DT amps...When you are using FULL amp models you are using a FULL cab model. Has a lot of color. When you use a PRE amp model, the cabs change to what are termed as LIVE cab models....These are lighter in the attenuation and optimized for the DT amplifiers...Nothing that mystical about the DT amps...Tube amps with Celestions...So the LIVE models will tend to work pretty decently with similar cab/speakers...of course I would suggest that you find the output mode that seems to work best for your rig...Auditioning takes some time, but it is well worth going through the cabs to find what fits your rig...I tend to use only a few different cab models as I use a DT and SV amp with 212 ext cabs and have replaced all the stock speakers...I am happy with my results.
  21. I have a Flextone III XL and use it with my HD Desktop for rehearsals....The tones I use are setup for using DT50, DT25, SVs....I generally use two amps...One set Class A and an SV (AB)...My patches are certainly not optimized for the Flexy as I use PRE models...However, for rehearsals I change the POD to Combo Front and cut a good amount of 400-600 hz and it translates pretty well to what the tube amps sound like...I am thinking that I will probably close off the back of the Flexy as that is the real problem with that amp...the back is way too open...Still a great amp...
  22. Actually the Drive is the same control as Volume on a real twin....Dime the Channel Volume and use the drive to set the level....Twins don't have gain bro. IF you get on the DEP page you can get even cleaner by knocking the DEP Master parameter down...Less xover distortion.
  23. While filtering is good to have, the only way I know to truly isolate AC is to use a transformer...I prefer to kill three birds with one shot and use an AVR...Voltage Regulation, Isolation and Filtration....I use a Tripp Lite LC1200... about $100...I got mine new for about $80 and there $20K of gear insurance on that also...never needed it...Oh yea, I have NEVER had a reset...If you perform using generator power without an AVR it is just a matter of time until your gear blows up...I have seen those never got over 90 volts...while the gear will run there...silicon regulators get pretty hot when they have to regulate that hard... Best to go 2 or 3:1 ratio since the current potential drops when the AVR steps up (if you need 300 watts, get a 600-1000 watt AVR)...I can't remember the last time I had a "ground voltage" causing noise...oh, that's because there is no voltage on my ground because it is isolated...I also use a XLR isolated splitter box for my direct and put the house on the isolated split...again, transformers are made to solve these issues... I shall step off the soapbox now... Here's a good little paper on the subject: http://www.jensen-transformers.com/an/generic%20seminar.pdf
  24. I agree with Phil....I think that you have Edit hooked up...If not, perhaps re-calibrate. the pedal...power up holding D I think...might be A, I don't remember offhand... All the patches I use these days are morphing patches...pedal min is a cleanish...pedal max is a crunchy...lots of moving parameters...When a patch loads, it is always as the pedal physical state that is used...However, for volume I do not use the Volume FX...I just assign the Channel Volume of the model to the expression pedal...Saves DSP and opens a slot...Anyhoo, I never tweak with Edit connected...Slows me down too much as I am used to the Hardware....I use a HD Desktop, so it is a little easier to tweak via hardware than a 500 is on the floor...... On other note...Min 0% Max 100% is EXTREMELY touchy...The Channel Volume approach works a bit better for me on patches where I need Min 0%...The reason is that the Channel Volume is usually set to something like 60%...So the pedal is set for 0 to 60 which makes it a little less touchy...bringing up the Min really helps on patches where Min 0% is not needed....A lot of time I will use a 30% range, like 70% min and 100% max...That makes it much easier for me make subtle adjustments...
