  1. Ha! Yea you drummers always needing help...You have HD Edit installed right? Try opening from inside HD Edit...
  2. I know it is a little pricey, but have you thought about something like a loop bone? Might be handy box to have... http://www.tonebone.com/tb-loopbone.htm
  3. Ok...here is the tone file inside a zip...maybe this will help...just extract the file and use it... Black Diamond 4 CM DT50.zip
  4. You are most welcome Joel...Let us know how it turns out...glad to help out if I can...good luck sir! B)
  5. GC has a 30 day return policy you have been dupped...Go to GC and insist on speaking to the manager...Perhaps give the manager only one opportunity to make it right...Accept nothing less than a new amp in an UNOPENED box...If not, get your money back and leave...
  6. I checked the link earlier today and it worked...tonight it didn't...So I managed to grab it and reposted that old forum topic here: http://line6.com/support/topic/2177-4-cm-the-hd-pod-bean-oh-yes-this-works/
  7. This is a thread I posted a long while back that is in the old forum...Just figured I would bring it here after it came up in a thread earlier today...enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------- So I have been meaning to sit down and do this for a couple of weeks...Life kept getting in the way...But I finally had a little time to re-spin the patches I need for an upcoming show using the HD Bean...And yes, you read this correctly...I am using the bean in 4 Cable Mode. It works like a dream... I have a DT50 and for this show coming up I am need just a few more FX than my HD400 can muster...It's close, but I really needed some of the programable footswitch stuff...And the HD Bean has enough FX blocks that I only really need two tones (Clean and Crunch) and I can get the rest of what I need using stomp blocks...However the caviat is that I can bypass the DT50 preamp if I like and use a pre model from the HD Bean...and 8 FX blocks... You have to change the setup around a little to get this to work....I am using a female 1/4-> male XLR adapter to HiZ the mic input...turn the trim all the way down and it takes line level just fine... The DT50 is all unbalanced, so in that case I need all typical unbalanced cables... Cabling up GTR-> HD GTR Input HD Left Out->DT50 GTR Input DT50 Send->HD Mic Input adapted HD Right Out-> DT50 Return In the setup menu, change input 2 to mic and input 1 is guitar... For this to work, setup the chain as a dual tone patch with each amp set to NONE...For the FX blocks you want before the preamp, put those on the LEFT (TOP) Chain...For the stuff after the preamp, put those on the RIGHT (BOTTOM) Chain...mixer should be the last thing in the chain...Make Left is panned all the way Left and Right is all the way Right... I am using a conventional channel switch with the DT50 and an FBV shortbiard with the HD Bean... DT50 channels NFL2 Class A Pentode patch on A and an NFL4 Class AB Pentode on B...A is fairly clean with a hair of dirt when strings are spanked hard...Channel B is moderate Crunch with the Drive around 1 oclock... I have included one of my more basic patches to get anyone started that is interested in trying this...To use it, change the extension to hbe and enjoy! Black Diamond 4 CM DT50.txt.zip
  8. It takes a couple of cables, but you could just put it in the DT25's FX loop....The send is the analog end of the link coming form the pod (end of the chain)...return is the power amp in....If the DT25 failed and you used another amp, then that might be HD500 1/4 out-> booster-> spare amp power amp in...I often run a DM3 in my DT loops...
  9. I think Z did that for me....I put a patch on that thread also. Ignorance of 4CM a desktop is not a bad thing...You just did not know....nothing more, nothing less...I am not calling you names...just the reality of the situation....It's a tweaky setup and not for everyone...if you try it and need any help with it, post a thread and I would be glad to share what I have learned using it with you or anyone else that is interested... One reason I prefer the Desktop over the 500 is that I do not like having my tone on the floor where beer gets spilled...I would rather the drunk guy fall on my shortboard (yes, that has happened to me >300 lbs and it still works after nearly 8 years of use)...I would go with a Pro and a shortboard before I would ever go with a 500...that's just my own opinion...
  10. Thanks Z!...I am seriously considering modifying my bean to have a concentric master pot...It would 4CM perfect if I could separate the analog master output levels on the unit...Really tweaky on its own...A little Boss LS-2 does the trick. I basically need to pin the Left Master at a fixed level since it drives the amp input and only use the Right Master for Volume...Come to think of it...maybe I should file a feature request...It would make 4CM a breeze...
  11. I totally disagree with you. I use an HD Desktop connected to guitar amps...basically it's my preamp and FX...Works great....I am guessing that you don't have one so I understand your ignorance in regards to the desktop...You can actually 4CM the desktop into any amplifier with an FX loop by serializing the chains... ;) ...If the HD desktop had midi or a system link it would be much better...my only complaint really...
  12. The FX in the HD PODS are M series....same as M-13....You can do 8 in the HD500...4 in the M13... The M series FX are much better than the old X series stuff if you ask me...The Dimension chorus is one of my favs and it sounds like the real deal to me...It's a bit more tweakable than a real one as it has a mix parameter....Other cool things are like the Analog Delay, which is a Memory Man, have delay times that are much longer than the 300ms on the real deal...and the HD500 or an M-13 is actually less expensive than a Vintage Memory Man with the correct chips in it...
  13. DT25 is slightly different than the DT50 in that there isn't a 12AX7 triode between the DAC and the Inverter...It's a FET I as I recall...maybe just a nice OP...Anyhoo, the master does not determine how hard the amp is working...When the amp is Class A, the tubes are working as hard as they can all the time whether there is signal there or not...that is how class A works...When the amp is class AB then the master actually does have the effect of increasing or reducing how hard power section is working because of the B component...But when you turn it up loud enough, it just turns class a anyway...All AB amps work that way...the louder you run, the more A...The master on the DT amplifiers is actually a pretty complicated thing because the amp can change class...It behaves like the master on a Class A amp...The reason is obovious...turn the master all the way down and you still hear it hissing...I think that FET plays into the channel volume being higher though...there is something a little bit different about running a DT50 that way and a DT25....One thing for certain, the DT25 has a lower noise floor...sorry to gab...
  14. Yea, the harmonizer and auto-tune is actually pretty good and tracks nicely live even with a fairly loud stage...The preamp, EQ, verb, delay and other FX are really quite good...The first time I used one reminded me of the first time I tweaked a PCM-70....It's just deep...
  15. The power sections in the DT50 and DT25 are 100% analog bro...the hybrid is the preamp...yes, it is an HD modeler...but there is nothing modeled in the power section...just topo morphing tube power amp much like a Mark V power amp...Only, those can't change mode...I see your point on wanting an analog amp...makes sense to me....
  16. I agree with Sonic...Worry about your guitar....Let the sound guy worry about your vocals....Give the sound guy a set list with the FX you want...he will either get it or not...As a former professional touring FOH engineer I can tell you that I would laugh in your face a bit if you asked me to run your vocal off and HD500 with your guitar as well...I would set up a vocal mic for you, get a set list with the FX you want on what songs and go from there...The thing is with a one off show like that, the simpler you keep things the better...and the more fun you will have...just my opinion... If you really want to control the FX on your voice live then get something that is made to do that like a Vocal Live (TC Helicon)...That's about the only one I will take because I can get a dry line off of it also...You think tweaking an HD500 is difficult...The TC stuff is ridiculous...but it does sound great for vocals in live situations...because that is what it was desgined for...I don't think the HD500 has enough DSP or blocks to really do a guitar and vocal right... again...just my opinion...
  17. Since the Min and Max is programmable, seems that a pot would be sorta moot..Here's an SPST Momentary.... http://www.pedalpartsplus.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PPP&Product_Code=9014&Category_Code=SWI They have just about whatever you would need for a little project like this. My opinion is use a resistor and program the min max in the patch...Apply the KISS principal ;).
  18. I had a POD XT that I kept in my shortboard bag as an all-in-one backup rig...I only ever had to use on a gig once when my SV MK! blew a tube during a show. It worked, but I really hated the way the XT felt going thru a PA...tone was fine, just feels wrong...HD Desktop is my main preamp now...I have an SV MK1, MK2, DT50 and DT25...I still have my old Flextone III XL....Dual Amps is a novelty on the HD pod...If you really need dual tone, then 2x HD Pro is really the way to go...What has impressed more than anything is that even direct WITHOUT a tube poweramp, the feel of the HD is lightyears ahead of anything they did before...tone has always been good, it has been the dynamics that have been missing until they partnered up with RB...These models and FX have movement that was never in anything they did previously...Anyway, it takes a little bit to get under tweaking the unit, but it works great for me. XT feels like a toy to me now...
  19. put the cursor on the FXblock, double click the MOVE button....use the first knob to select the parameter...enable the controller by setting it to pedal 2....set the mins and max how you want...This works the same for any FX parameter...IF all else fails, RTFM... ;) BTW- you also have to set the ON/OFF...hold enter until you get the FS selection...push the toe switch...After you do it a couple of times, you will get under it. B)
  20. I changed the 12AX7s in my DT50 to using a GT-SAGAX7 for the inverter and a Mesa SPAX7 for the buffer...Dramatic difference. I have not had very good luck with those EH 12AX7s that come stock...They always seem to be quite noisy...At least the ones I have gotten have been.
  21. Thanks Chase & John...You both hit on exactly what I was trying to say...It's all about feel...It's just one of those things you don't notice unless you are playing the rig, then it becomes really obvious. This was the problem with the X modeling IMO...My Flextone III XL sounds fantastic with all the extra gear it took to get it to feel pretty good...still never felt "Right" to me...However, I had a lot of guitar players ask me it was a 6L6 or EL34 amp...I always found that to be pretty funny... :) What has really impressed me about HD is that I can get even closer to the right feel without all that extra processing it took with the X gear...Things are moving in the right direction I think.
  22. I have played it all...To me it's a personal thing...Not one person in the audience is going to give a crap or even be able to tell the difference. However, I will tell you that I can feel the difference. While an FRFR system that is 400 watts @ 8 ohms or higher is enough power to reproduce the dynamics of a 100 watt Class AB modeled tube amplifier, tube power amps have an interaction with the guitar that simply is not there is a fully simulated rig....This dates back to the older generation modeling also...Sure it sounds great, but there is nothing that compares to the feel of a real tube amplifier...electric guitars generally rolloff at 5K as do 12 inch speakers...While the sound of a mic on a cab is nice and post production sounding, I do not like monitoring that while I play...IF you have need for an acoustic, then that is probably a more economical way to go and each player has thier own unique preferences. whatever...different strokes...but there are some that will insist that there is nothing better than full sims on an FRFR system...fine for them...I am not into it...I don't like the sound of a mic on a cab...I like to hear my cab as it is...I freaking hate IEMs too...so that's my take...
  23. put the internal and the ext on the 4 ohm taps...Lots of folks using that...very nice rig....I have the DT25 head and cab....I often use my SV112 with the DT 112 cab....same thing....what stinks is that cab is 1/2" narrower than the SV...not really noticable, but I wish they had matched the width of the SV 112 combos...
  24. Well, there is always the spacial rationalization...You will never be able to do a proper stereo image without a second head....Always more fun to spank in stereo.... Sorry, Mrs Geppert...could not help myself.... :P
  25. I agree with Crusty about using two DT-25 heads...One DT-25 head is a bit underpowered for Fender spank tone...just doesn't have the power too jump out of the box and stay clean enough...Sorry, just trying to help you rationalize a second head properly.... ;)
