  1. Your Helix Control device is money well spent. It will open up a world of possibilities for you.
  2. The Sonic Port VX uses its own internal mics. There is no input for an external Mic, no phantom power, nor any Mic preamp. You could experiment with using the Guitar input (with appropriate adapter if necessary) for an external microphone but the input levels would not match up very well. And you would need to provide external phantom power as well.
  3. ... hence the Variax ...... Useful for the same reasons that you have Helix for different amps and FX on the same device.
  4. It may simply be that the sub is actually working but the guitar is not producing frequencies below the crossover threshold, hence the sub remains silent. As I mentioned I don't use the sub for guitar - only for bass.
  5. Let's please just ignore him. I expect he in his current username will soon suffer the same treatment as his previous alter-ego did - banishment from the forum by Line 6.
  6. No - there's no way to do that.
  7. .... which you show no evidence of having done......
  8. ... and we have yet to see this self-described award winning preset on Customtone...... when will you share it and open yourself up to review and feedback? I expect you'll get plenty.
  9. Good suggestions hurghanico. Unfortunately, and for reasons I don't understand, the HD Pro/X models do not have a cd/mp3 input like the HD500/X does.
  10. Here is a preset designed to record a wet and dry signal simultaneously. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/2784034/ You can change any of the processing blocks but do not alter the preset structure. Also read the explanatory comments about how to use the preset. btw..... there's another X3 feature that I used a lot that was dropped in the POD series (and also Helix). The Lock Tone 2 feature was very handy for the solo performer. You could easily change guitar tones/presets while keeping your vocal tone constant. Anytime you wanted to tweak your vocal tone you only had to do it once, not in every preset.
  11. Then I'd say..... get a recording of him playing Message in a Bottle on Helix, recreating that tone!
  12. You can fix this by using Workbench to adjust the string volumes (which may have been done in the past, perhaps by a previous owner if you bought them used). Also, a previous owner may have replaced the original piezo pickups. I did that with my Variax 300, replacing the original L.R. Baggs with Graphtech pickups. The sound was noticeably louder with the Graphtechs.
  13. ... and just to make sure.... you are using the L6 Link connection from Helix to the first speaker, right?
  14. I use exactly this setup and have never had a problem. I am using the L6 Link connection between the Helix and all speakers in a simple daisy chain fashion. The order of the speaker connections should not matter as long as all speakers are powered on. I place the L3s (sub) at the end of the chain because I often leave it off, not needing it when I'm playing electric guitar. I use it when playing bass. Check your cables. Make sure each is working and that the L6 Link In/Out connections are correct.
  15. Sorry but we're not able to do that. We are not Line 6 employees and in most cases we have no inside information about product plans. Sometimes we are provided with some information but in those cases we are constrained by non-disclosure agreements. So in all cases our public response has to be .... I know nothing. You are right about the worst case situation - maintain an old mobile device without upgrading to a new OS in the event that the app is no longer supported under the new OS.
  16. There's a Factory Preset in the Templates setlist called Super Serial, also illustrated on pg 19 of the Helix manual 2.0 (rev D). Place the cab (and only the cab) in path 1B. Set Output 1A to 1/4" and Output 1B to XLR.
  17. Yes, I recall being through this. But I think the more accurate description is "... no one has been successful in replicating it to the OP's satisfaction". And I think the OP already had his mind made up on the topic and ended up simply trashing anyone who posted a candidate tone. He denigrated and ridiculed anyone who suggested that their tone was good. IIRC there were several good (imho) tones posted but none were good enough for the OP. @TheBreakneck - if the previous poster is still around you can expect to receive some pushback on the quality of your tone - especially if you don't post it for others to try out.
  18. Do you plan to post this Helix preset on Customtone so that interested users can download and use it?
  19. Not sure what the purpose of this post is. Can you please explain?
  20. I don't see any harm in this, and has been said people shouldn't take it personally. However, I don't think it has the desired effect either. Prioritizing the importance of the items on ideascale is Line 6's job - not ours. They can see the downvotes as well as we can and I expect they ignore them. Their priorities are most likely based on how many people think it's a good idea (positive votes) not those who think it's less important than their own or other ideas. I think downvotes are probably ignored and hence useless.
  21. Actually, the proper procedure is to install the editor first. That process also installs the driver and the Updater program. Then run the Updater program with your Helix LT connected to update the firmware. ... and you're right. Since you are just starting you don't need to back anything up first.
  22. The presets for Helix LT and Helix Native are fully compatible. Any preset you develop in one place can be transferred to the other so you whichever place you create/edit the preset, the results can be used in the other. You don't need to do setups in both places. The advantage of Helix Native is versatility and flexibility in your workflow. You can record the dry guitar tone, as well as the wet one, from Helix LT into your DAW. Then you transfer the preset into Helix Native and use it as a starting point for further tweaking (or complete replacement) as the song develops in your DAW. While you could do the same thing reamping with the Helix LT hardware, using the Helix Native software is faster and easier - and you can do it without needing the LT hardware connected. When the song is finished in your DAW, transfer the preset back to Helix LT for your live performances.
  23. Check the Dry Thru or Mix settings on your Send/Return or FX Loop blocks. This adjusts the amount of signal that bypasses the blocks and proceeds through your signal chain. See manual page 33.
  24. 2) I'm not at my M20d at the moment but IIRC the 32 band EQ is visible in the TWEAK (or Deep tweak) section of the outputs block in the Fader view of Performance mode.
