  1. That looks like the cap that fits over a VDI connection. Try to fit it on the rear panel of your Helix where you would connect a Variax guitar.
  2. Thanks for the explanation. For me, the range and flexibility of the Variax are worth any perceived deficiencies in the modeling itself. Personally I think the modeling is very good. My 1970-s era Les Paul Deluxe sits in its case now because I can't tell any significant difference in its sound from the sound of my JTV-59 Lester models. The Les Paul is slightly better to play but again, the range and flexibility of the JTV wins out for me.
  3. I'm curious. You say you've had Helix for 1.5 yrs. Why do you not have the same concern about it? It does not have upgradeable electronics. Why no obsolescence anxiety with Helix? Perhaps I'm missing an important distinction here? (I'm not arguing that you should buy a Variax - just interested in the difference.)
  4. Here's an informative older thread for you to read: http://line6.com/support/topic/12586-usb-interface/ The hardware package you need Is included with a newly purchased guitar. If you did not receive it you should have received a price discount of about $100, the price of the hardware package. It includes 3 pieces: a plastic box, a custom RJ45 cable that connects the guitar to the box, and a USB cable that connects the box to your computer. .
  5. Perhaps the controversial part will be that there's nothing controversial after all despite the teaser.
  6. The sound quality going through another interface depends on the quality and features of that interface, of course, so it's hard to say. But there are a few things to note:- another interface may not support recording both the dry and wet tone simultaneously as the X3 does. - using another interface requires additional D/A and A/D signal conversions, each of which can affect sound quality. - there is virtually no latency using the X3 as the interface and monitoring the sound using the X3 audio outputs.
  7. You can use the X3 Live as your audio interface - no need for another one. Connect it your Mac via USB and configure your DAW to use the X3 Live and its ASIO driver as your audio device. Consult the X3 Live manual for details on how to use/select the audio channels over usb within your DAW. You can record direct using the X3 Live amp models with your guitar connected to the X3 Live. If you want to connect your guitar to your hot rod deluxe amp and record it you will need to mic the amp and connect your mic to the X3 Live mic input.
  8. You would have to manually create your own Favorites list. One way would be to dedicate a Setlist for this and then copy any preset you want to that Setlist.
  9. You only need to install the most recent update, v2.30; ignore earlier updates. Begin the process by downloading nad installing the HX Edit program, which will also install the driver and the Line 6 Updater program. Then run the Updater program with your Helix LT connected via USB. Also since the device is new you don't have to back up your existing presets; you haven't yet developed any custom presets that you will want to save and restore.
  10. Make sure you have your snapshots set to Discard changes.
  11. Are you using the Line 6 ASIO driver when recording, as opposed to something like ASIO4ALL? Are you playing back the recording through your speakers or using headphones?
  12. The USB port on the FH FX is for connection to a PC/Mac computer, not an iOS device. It is for installing firmware from a computer rather than via Bluetooth. There is no other USB capability with Firehawk FX. There is no computer-based editor for Firehawk FX; just the mobile app.
  13. If your input is set to Multi try changing it to Guitar.
  14. If you want to upgrade to Pod Farm 2 you need to purchase a Pod Farm 2 license. Your existing Pod Farm license can be used to download and install Pod Farm 1. PF1 is listed as Pod Farm (not Pod Farm 2) in the Downloads area of this website under the Software field. After installing run the Line 6 License Manager to authorize it on your new computer.
  15. Yes - connect it to the phone-record out jack. The CD/MP3 jack is an input, not output, jack.
  16. I would back up all my setlists and then reinstall the firmware. Do a factory reset after reinstalling.
  17. I suspect the lack of evolution in the Line 6 Live Sound products relates to the takeover of Line 6 by Yamaha. I suspect you will see a lot of the Stagesource/Scape technologies in a future Yamaha product. But to answer your question, the StageScape mixer remains an excellent product and does what it does very well. But it will not likely be improved further by Line 6 imho. If you find a better product in 2018 (even on paper) then go for it. And while the M20d can connect to a DAW to record, as you mention, it is not a general purpose audio interface for a DAW.
  18. All you need to read is the looper section of the manual. You can do that more quickly than it would take someone here to answer your questions. The only info that may not be clear in the manual relates to your Q3. The looper has no sense of when you stop playing. It simply records the sound (including silence) from the instant you tap the Record button until the instant you tap the Play button. Any silence you might hear is silence that you put there.
  19. If it were to be implemented I think it would have to be as a global setting. You don't want to slow down the preset switching process, or add another footstomp to it, for all users at all times . I think most users would likely not use the feature. They want minimal time/dancing to switch presets and seem generally OK with the way things are now in this respect.
  20. There may be a way using an external midi controller but I haven't explored that. Using the device itself there's no way. As you describe you have to select the destination preset first, which immediately changes the sound, and then select the desired snapshot. As mentioned above you can prepare the destination preset by pre-selecting the desiredsnapshot before saving the preset.
  21. Check your DAW settings to make sure that the X3 is set as your audio interface device and that your speakers/monitors are connected to the X3 audio outputs.
  22. Have you also downloaded and installed the driver?
  23. Make sure your output is set to Line and use your Line inputs on your speakers. Make sure there is a cab or IR in your signal chain - don't use just an amp with no cab with your setup.
  24. Yeah - that doesn't look like normal wear&tear or dust collection. Depending on where you got it, it might not be brand new. Places like Guitar Centre are kind of notorious for repackaging used/returned items as new. Maybe someone 'bought' it for a weekend on the beach? Can you return/replace it? Are you having any operational problem with your HD500X, despite the now-removed dirt? That's what actually matters, I guess. But I would still want to replace it.
  25. Select the output block of Path 1 and route it to Path 2A rather than to, for instance, Multi.
