    HX Edit

Thanks - I see it now. I believe this is a one-time suggestion for this release because the program name has changed from Helix to HX Edit. So now if you look (on Windows) at the list of programs you will still see the old editor and you can remove it just for administrative cleanup purposes. I don't think leaving it installed it will cause any issues or conflicts (at least it hasn't for me) but it's now obsolete and can be removed. In general, and as long as the program name remains HX Edit, you should not need to uninstall the old edit program. The new one will replace it and you will only see one HX Edit program in the list of Programs and Apps.

    HX Edit

That's interesting - I hadn't seen that. Can you point me to the instructions you're referring to?
  3. The amp should work on its own without the Pod connected. Sorry but I can't help your any more than clearing that point up for you.

    HX Edit

You should not need to uninstall the old editor before installing the new one; it is replaced. Some people who have encountered installation issues have reported that uninstalling first can help but in those cases there's likely something wrong to begin with. Under normal circumstances it is not required.
  5. You should remove the battery from the JTV when you use the VDI cable; they should not be used simultaneously. It's entirely possible that this is the cause of your symptoms. Please continue testing with just the VDI and/or just the battery and report if symptoms continue. btw... the 'don't force' model setting does exactly that. It leaves the Variax Model at the current selection without forcing a new selection. If the current model was specified by a previous preset, changing to a 'don't force' preset leaves it as is. It does not reset the model selection to the hardware knob/switch setting.
  6. Ha Ha! Does that mean you are bringing your ennuitic self to the Line 6 Updater program?
  7. Yes it's a major recoding and an architectural overhaul to simplify future releases from a coding and maintenance perspective. For instance, the user interface for HX Edit and Helix Native are now essentially the same, and (I presume) based on the same source code as much as possible. That makes things simpler for the future because now you only have to revise one piece of source code, not two, to affect both products. So in that sense I think v2.30 is a new launching point for development and maintenance but not necessarily for firmware releases. A Line 6 firmware update completely overwrites existing firmware - it's not like an update 'patch' that you often see in Windows software. In the latter case the patch only partially overwrites the OS code and requires that the patch be applied to a specific previous OS version. But Helix hardware is what it is, and you can completely replace the firmware without considering what the existing firmware is. It's gone - doesn't matter what it was - and a completely new OS takes its place. ... at least that's my understanding ......
  8. I don't have a horse in the update-or-not race - whatever people want to do is what they should do. But I notice a few comments indicating that you will have to 'go through' v2.30 to get to the future v3.0 and onward. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by that, but all Line 6 firmware releases on any product that I'm aware of have been comprehensive. In other words you can update directly from any previous version to the latest version without having to perform any intermediate updates. I expect the v3.0 update to be the same. Unless Line 6 does something unprecedented you will be able to go directly from v2.21 to v3.0. Am I missing something?
  9. Yes. Turn off and disconnect the Helix Control device before updating Helix Rack. You will be prompted by the Line 6 Updater program to reconnect and turn on Helix Control when the Helix Rack update is complete. Helix Rack will then prompt you to update Helix Control.
  10. Not directly. You will need to do it manually and even then they won't sound the same because of the difference in the modeling engines. But it can be a good starting point for tweaking. To do it manually, run the Pod XT editor with the Pod connected and simultaneously run the HD500X Edit program (you don't need to HD500X connected). Manually recreate the settings in HD500X Edit and then save the HD500X presets to a folder on your computer. When done disconnect the Pod XT, connect the HD500X, and import the saved presets. Tweak as desired and then send the presets to the HD500X device.
  11. Yes you can roll back later if you wish. You just have to make sure you roll back the editor too. Firmware and editor versions must be compatible.
  12. That's exactly how I would feel about more hi-gain metal-type amps. More bees in a box. Not saying you shouldn't get them, but I would not likely update if that's all there was.

    New Presets?

I'm not aware of any new presets in v2.30.
  14. That sort of usb hum is common with laptops. If you want to remove it completely you can run the laptop on batteries or get some sort of device that cleans up the power supply. I'm not sure what it's called.
  15. No you can't undo it. It happens sometimes. If you post a link to the thread and indicate the number of the post on which you made the mistake I can vote it up for you and neutralize things.
  16. Are you unable to register it using the normal procedure? (Under Support tan above, select Account Services) If not contact Line 6 Support. The previous owner may not have removed the registration from their account; Line 6 can do that for you.
  17. Ok, let me be the first. Now that v2.3 is out..... WHEN THE F&CK IS V3.0 COMING?? It's been almost 24 hrs since the last update!
  18. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling Helix Native.
  19. Since Helix Native tones are compatible with Helix you can go to Customtone and filter for Helix tones.
  20. You need to assign the Variax Model parameter in the Input block to the snapshot controller, just like any other snapshot controlled FX/amp parameter.
  21. Seems you are able to route the speaker2 mixer inputs to speaker1 using the mix output, not the L6 Link connection. Have you tried doing the same from speaker1 to get your vocals to speaker2? Would this 'double up' the guitar signal? If so, try removing the L6 Link connection from speaker1 to speaker2. That way you are left with L6 Link from your guitar to speaker1 and then a 2-way analog connection between the two speakers using their respective mix outputs. I've never tried this setup. Be careful - it may create a feedback loop with the inputs from speaker2 being combined into the mix output from speaker1 going back into speaker2, then back again into speaker1 and so on ad Infinitum. Turn both speaker volumes to zero before testing and raise them carefully to test.
  22. Your description is exactly correct, and there's nothing you're missing. You have to choose between using L6 Link from Helix and having a one-sided vocal, or connecting both speakers in a 2-way L6 Link (meaning you use the Helix analog outputs to a speaker) and having full stereo. Unfortunately you can't have it both ways.
  23. Run Line 6 Monkey with your POD connected to your computer via USB.
