  1. I expect you could order one from Long & McQuade. They may not have any left in their Canadian inventory but they should still be able to place an order for you.
  2. This preset is designed for independent acoustic guitar and vocal tracks but can easily be adapted for two electric guitars. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/215659/
  3. You could use the footswitches, not the editor, to quickly and easily cycle through the snapshots. In Global Settings, set the display to 8 Snapshots. Or, set the Up/Down footswitches to progress through snapshots rather than banks or presets. See manual page 55. This will let you do what you want with a footstomp rather than a mouse click.
  4. If you are talking about the Firehawk FX, this is from the manual. It's a good read! Performing a Factory Reset restores the Firehawk FX to the original factory settings and Presets. Be sure to use the Firehawk Remote app to back up your customized Presets before performing a Factory Reset! After performing a Factory Reset, it is recommended that you next perform the Pedal Calibration for proper Pedal operation. • FactoryReset:SimultaneouslypressandholdtheMasterVolume Knob and the TAP footswitch as you power on the unit. (Btw... the pedal calibration procedure is the very next line in the manual!) http://line6.com/data/6/0a064389f12c5564c72bd7f4a/application/pdf/Firehawk%20FX%20Pilot's%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20E%20).pdf
  5. No, the midi port cannot be used to update the HD500 firmware. You need to use the USB port. You can update the driver because it lives on the pc, not the pod. But until/unless the USB port is fixed you won't be able to update the firmware.
  6. The info I posted above is from the small manual on the website. It comes with the guitar. I don't think there's a more detailed one. Enjoy your new Variax!
  7. Perhaps I misunderstood. You can save the current model and tone knob setting in your Variax Standard to one of the Custom banks using the guitar itself. You will need Workbench HD to substantially alter any models. Maybe this snip from the manual will help: Let’s say you found a sound that you know you’ll be coming back to again and again. Here’s what you do: 1. Be sure your sound is exactly as you want it. This is going to store the guitar model and tone knob settings. 2. Press and hold the Guitar Model Selector knob for 2.5 seconds or until the LEDs begins to blink to enter customization mode. 3. Now turn the Guitar Model Selector to CUSTOM 1 or CUSTOM 2. It’s your choice. The Alternate Tuning LED is no longer lit. 4. Move the Pickup Selector Switch to the desired position you want to store it. JTV-59 Users: Push Alternate Tuning Knob then move Pickup Selector Switch to access positions 2 or 4. 5. To save an alternate tuning to this position, select the desired tuning on your Alternate Tuning knob. Skip this step if you do not want an alternate tuning. 6. Press and hold the Guitar Model Selector knob for 2.5 seconds. Presto!, you just saved your first guitar model to a custom bank! Don’t forget to set your Alternate Tuning knob to MODEL if you want to recall the tunings exactly the way you’ve saved them.alter
  8. You need to use Workbench HD, not the original Workbench. But the features and functions are pretty similar. After editing a model in Workbench HD there's a certain command (don't know exactly what it's called) that will send/store the model in a specific bank/slot location on the Variax.
  9. You can attach a PDF file to any post. If you can't see it on the main text page look for something that says More Options, or Use Full Editor, or anything that gives you a view of more features when posting.
  10. Can't see the PDF. Try attaching again. Are you familiar with midi? Which device do you plan to use as the midi controller?
  11. Do you know this person? Why is he asking you? If he's a complete stranger I would definitely tell him to contact Glenn.
  12. That would be the right answer, I think. They're Glenn's to distribute or not, unless one purchases the preset packages in which the IRs are included.
  13. It doesn't apply to used items because the intent is to provide one discount per device, not multiple discounts. If the original purchaser retains the Helix device for more than 180 days he/she receives a lifetime license for Helix Native. Hence no discount for future purchasers of the same device. One approach would be to obtain the serial number of the Helix device you propose to purchase and check with Line 6 to see if that device has already been registered and used to obtain the Helix Native discount. If not you might be considered the original owner for discount purposes and may be entitled to the discount.
  14. Here are the Terms and Conditions that apply to Helix Native discounts. http://shop.line6.com/helixnativeterms.html See the Eligible Products section.Sounds like your used Helix does not qualify, but you should talk to Line 6 to be sure.
  15. You could also just use the volume pedal within the same patch. Rock the pedal to increase or decrease th volume as desired.
  16. I use an L3t with my Helix and it works great. But if all you want it for is a stage monitor you might consider the L2m which will work just as well (that's what it's designed for) and is less expensive. I would say that if the L2m can't keep up with the Marshall then your other guitar player needs to turn down his stage volume.
  17. The warbles that you hear are normal in the sense that you would experience exactly the same thing if you were to suddenly adjust the delay time using a traditional analog pedal. Try using two separate instances of the same Delay FX in the preset using the two different delay time settings. In one snapshot have one FX on and the other off, then switch their states in the other snapshot. That way you're not instantly changing the timing in a single delay 'pedal' - you are using two pedals and neither of them is actually changing their time setting - they're just being switched on/off inversely.
  18. Workbench is not involved. The Helix preset controls Variax model selection (and optionally other Variax settings) as long as the Variax is connected to Helix via VDI.
  19. Sure. Use the Helix app/editor to export the preset files on one computer, copy them to a USB stick or attach them to an email to get them on the other computer, then use the editor again to import them to the other Helix.
  20. You're right - this should not happen spontaneously. I would open a support ticket with Line 6 tech support.
  21. You can restore the factory presets by restarting Helix and holding down certain buttons depending on what exactly you want to restore, as documented here: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/helix/helix-reset-procedures-and-troubleshooting-tricks-r768 Please don't shoot me like you did the previous messenger. Your initial question was ambiguous - he answered thinking you were after the list of patch names (not the patches themselves) and that's what he provided. No need to be snarky.
  22. From the manual: Master Volume LED Ring - The ring of LEDs surrounding the Master Volume knob lights up in various ways, depending on the current parameter being adjusted. • Selectable Volume Modes: There are three volume modes available, which are accessed by pressing the Master Volume knob to adjust each of the following parameters: • Master Volume: When the LEDs are lit red, the knob adjusts the overall volume output from the device. Press the knob once to access the Guitar Level mode. • Guitar Level: When the LEDs are lit white, the knob independently adjusts the guitar (and Variax) level. This allows you to balance the level of your guitar versus music playback. Press the knob once to access the Channel Volume mode. • Amp Model Channel Volume: When the LEDs are lit pink, the knob independently adjusts the Channel Volume for the current Preset's Amp Model. This is offered as an alternative to adjusting the Amp volume within the Firehawk Remote app. Press the knob once to return to Master Volume mode. There are other interesting things in the manual too....
  23. Yes, if you're not experienced or comfortable doing a setup take it to someone who is. There are three factors involved in a setup - neck relief (truss rod), action (bridge height), and intonation (saddle position). Changing any one of those can require a change in another. It takes experience to get the interplay right. Of course the only way to get experience is to try it, but do some reading and make sure you have a good understanding of the concepts before you do it.
  24. No Helix firmware has included IRs in its installation. All IRs are post-installation user additions. This has been the case from the beginning.
  25. Your Helix Control device is money well spent. It will open up a world of possibilities for you.
