How to revert to saved preset while connected to PODHD ProX Edit on PC?
silverhead replied to TheOneManBand's topic in POD HD
Sorry - it's called Receive not Retrieve. ... it's all in the manual.... http://line6.com/data/6/0a06434c0abb5243120f281b9/application/pdf/POD%20HD%20Pro%20X%20Edit%20Pilot's%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf -
How to revert to saved preset while connected to PODHD ProX Edit on PC?
silverhead replied to TheOneManBand's topic in POD HD
I believe there's a function called Retrieve in the Edit program. It restores an unsaved preset in the editor, retrieveing its stored state, from the device. -
Have you tried Soultrainer's solution?
-
That would still require an architectural rewrite. Not likely, HX Edit currently cannot read anything without Helix connected. Besides, as has already been pointed out, Helix Native provides an offline (though not standalone) full Helix editor. Yes I know it must be purchased, even at discount rates for Helix owners, but it exists. As MartinDorr suggests there are other more direct paths to the desired outcome than rewriting HX Edit for offline operation.
-
Note: the first quote was provided by Duncann quoting Digital_Igloo. I think DI and you agree, Hurghanico, on the technical facts. HX EDit could have been (and still could be) designed for offline mode. But I think the reason for not doing so has more to do with architecture, as DI says, than your premise of preventing sneak peeks into preset structure. You know, as an HD500X user, that the editor and the device can easily get out of sync, with undesirable results. As I understand it that's because HD500X Edit maintains its own view/workspace of preset details, as described by DI. But with Helix the situation has improved. There is no possibility for Helix and HX Edit to get out of sync because there is no 2nd copy of the details. All preset details are maintained only in Helix and HX Edit directly manipulates that data. Hence no architectural possibility (without a rewrite) of standalone operation.

Not sure if this matters on a Mac, but it does on Windows. The program name HX Edit is new and begins with v2.30. Previously the program was named Helix. On Windows the list of installed programs includes both Helix v2.21 and HX Edit v2.3. There is no conflict in having both installed but after installing HX Edit there is no need to retain the Helix program; it is obsolete and can be uninstalled for administrative convenience.

No - Customtone does not have a preset preview feature. You need to download the preset and view it in HX Edit. I don't think you need to have the Helix device connected to do this; just With your Helix device connected via usb, open HX Edit and drag/drop the downloaded preset file into any preset slot in the HX Edit window. EDIT: correction to earlier statement that Helix does not have to be connected; apparently it does (according to the manual).

Recording mode StageScape
silverhead replied to digaz's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
As long as your M20d USB is connected to your computer you do not hace to set anything in the M20d - it is automatically using the ASIO driver on your computer to communicate with your computer. In your DAW, make sure the M20d is selected as your audio device, arm the track(s) for recording, and select the desired M20d USB channel as the record input source. Note also that the M20d becomes your audio card; you have to connect your headphones/speakers to the M20d outputs in order to hear anything. You should expect significant latency on playback; the M20d ASIO driver is not designed as an audio interface driver for full multi-track DAW purposes. It is designed for a one-time capture of audio streaming. You will not be able to overcome the latency to effectively overdub in your DAW. -

Here is a potentially relevant snip from the manual (see section 4-8 Streaming): “Multitrack recording to SD/USB storage is not available while connected to a computer.†The M20d supports a digital stream to only one device at a time. When you are connected to a computer that becomes the active digital device. You must disconnect from the computer in order for the SD/USB device to be recognized for recording. -

Make sure the input switch on the VX is set to guitar, not one of the mic settings.- 3 replies

You need to do a factory restore (not a rebuild) to get the new presets. Make sure you back up your non-factory setlists first.

When will we see new models and firmware for helix??
silverhead replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
You need the new HX Edit program, v2.30. -
Also with Native you don't need to have Helix connected all the time. Once your dry tone is recorded you can disconnect Helix (and/or leave it at home while traveling) and still use Native to tweak tones.

Helix 2.30 Plexi Brit Trem Bright, Normal, Jumpered Demos
silverhead replied to skyfirez1's topic in Helix
I didn't feel the need for any more Marshalls either. And yet I find this latest one the best of the bunch. Interesting, too, that despite calling for no more you went to the effort of putting together this demo. What prompted you to make the demo of the model and then immediately chastise Line 6 for giving it to us? Presumably you like the model. Is it possible that they might release another one you like? -
Not trying to be a smarta$$ here, but here's a snip from pg 22 of the manual, describing the Output Block: TIP: Use Knob 2 (Level) to set the path's overall level, which is important to ensure all of your presets maintain a consistent volume throughout your set. Again, I mention this for the benefit of readers - not to further smack your forehead! ;)

Thanks for giving us further insight into your situation. I guess all that we're saying is that there's a problem somewhere with your setup - the behaviour you describe is not normal. Since you've tried a 2nd Helix LT and cable I suspect your JTV is the culprit, or else it's a usage issue. In either case I believe the best way to get it resolved is through the support ticket system, when you have the time to deal with that. Line 6 may see this and reach out to you for further details and analysis but this is a user forum and they generally don't hang out here. They may not see this thread. Meantime it seems like you have a workaround, though not ideal. Good luck with an eventual fix.

You can export setlists using HX Edit and then import them into Helix Native. You can also do the same with IRs, though you may have to handle them individually. There is no analogy to global settings in Helix Native since these settings mostly handle the Helix display, footswitches, and ins/outs. None of these exist in Helix Native.

I believe the iPhone maintains a concept of the music 'library' as a specific storage area in your phone, and that is where the Amplifi app looks for music to play. Make sure the songs in your Google Play app are added to the iPhone's library.

The behaviour you describe is not normal. I suggest you open a support ticket to work with Line 6 tech support on identifying the problem and finding a solution.

You just need the VDI cable. It provides power to the Variax. -
Variax 600 or 700 with Firehawk FX
silverhead replied to jwiley's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Yes it will Control all Variax guitars in terms of model selection. Here's a relevant snip from the manual. Firehawk FX supports the use of any Line 6 Variax® instrument via the VARIAX connection on the rear panel. And with any James Tyler® Variax® (JTV) or Variax® Standard instrument, control of alternate tunings and model/magnetic pickup switching are supported as well. -
You can do that more easily by using the default setting for USB chnanel 7 which is the dry signal from the Helix guitar input. This replaces your Path 1 with no blocks setup you described. In your DAW select Helix Input 7 as your input for the track you are recording. The dry guitar track will be recorded and you can then apply plug-ins to it as desired.

You can sign up to receive product update emails. Check your Email Preferences in your profile. There's a checkbox to say you want to receive an email whenever there's an update for one of your registered products.

Thanks - I see it now. I believe this is a one-time suggestion for this release because the program name has changed from Helix to HX Edit. So now if you look (on Windows) at the list of programs you will still see the old editor and you can remove it just for administrative cleanup purposes. I don't think leaving it installed it will cause any issues or conflicts (at least it hasn't for me) but it's now obsolete and can be removed. In general, and as long as the program name remains HX Edit, you should not need to uninstall the old edit program. The new one will replace it and you will only see one HX Edit program in the list of Programs and Apps.

That's interesting - I hadn't seen that. Can you point me to the instructions you're referring to?
