You use the Inputs to select models or mags. Selecting Variax as the input uses the model that is also assigned within the patch. Selecting Variax Mags uses the mag pickups. If you want to use a blend of model and mags you select both of these as Inputs. If you want to use either a model or the mags, not both, then you assign the one you want as one input and make sure the other input excludes the other setting.

You should only see the message 'sync in progress' when you are connected via USB to the Edit program running on your computer. The fact that you are seeing this message explains the lag time between presets. If you have disconnected the USB and are still seeing this message I would first cycle the power on your Pod HD. If the problem remains after cycling the power I think you will need to reinstall the firmware on your POD HD. Before doing this, use the Edit program to save any custom presets/setlists to your computer so that you can reload them later. Then use Line 6 Monkey to help you reinstall the firmware. During this process choose to replace (not keep) your existing presets.

In order to keep the changed settings you must SAVE the patch before leaving it. In other words, each time a preset is recalled it is recalled in the state that it was last SAVEd, which is not necessarily the state you last left it unless you SAVEd it before leaving.

Congratulations - you may have found it. There may be a very simple fix. Try pulling off the model selector knob, placing a small bit of wadded paper inside the knob, and replacing the knob on the shaft. This has the effect of raising the knob on the shaft, which eliminates the 'sticking' that this knob has a tendency to do against the guitar body. This is a known tendency in some JTV models and is the cause of several anomalies in behaviour.

Toneport GX with POD Farm 2.57 no sound
silverhead replied to cam6825's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
This is normal. The GX becomes your computer's soundcard; that's why you hear the sound through the GX. Your computer's internal soundcard (to which the USB speakers are connected) is bypassed, which is why you don't hear any sound through your speakers. -
HD500X to L2M via L6 no signal.

Those settings look OK, which points to a hardware fault in one of the components I described earlier. -
Connect to Logic, big latency
silverhead replied to YunTug's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I believe you can record an initial multi-track 'take' to the DAW in 'real time' just as you can to an SD card. I've done it though I've only used a couple of channels/tracks. In both cases the audio is captured cleanly on the destination medium. You won't hear any latency at record time (as long as you are not using the DAW monitoring) because there's no playback involved on the initial recording. The audio is all being buffered as required and written to the SD card / PC drive as M20d/PC processing cycles are available. The problem comes in trying to synchronize playback from the PC/DAW with overdubs performed through the M20d. That's where the M20d is simply not designed for the task. And as dboomer explained above, it won't be.Don't expect a firmware update to resolve this, ever. -
Yes - the sound of the HD series PODs is superior to the X3 series in most people's opinion. Given that sound is subjective, some may prefer the X3. However what's not subjective is the fact that the HD modeling is based on newer technology that utilizes about 10 times the sampling of the X3. To my ears that makes a real difference. But yes, it's a more complicated beast and has a steeper learning curve.

No - you shouldn't have to make any other adjustments. You can adjust the HD mic input level using the dial that you will see beside the Mic In jack on the rear of the HD500. And the HD is built for this task; all you're doing is using its mic input as designed and its USB audio interface capability as designed. Also, the UX audio interfaces have nothing to do with tone; they just do exactly what the HD500 does in terms of being an audio interface - they transmit an incoming signal over USB to your computer/DAW.

There is an unavoidable lag while changing presets but it is much more noticeable when the POD is connected to your computer, say, while using the POD editor. The lag is minimized when disconnected from your computer. In most cases the unavoidable lag is just a few milliseconds and there are some things you can do to avoid noticing it: - create your presets to avoid the need to switch frequently in the midst of a song; use different combinations of FX within the same preset and turn them on/off as required during the song rather than using different presets; - when you need to switch during a song, create a short delay in your playing while you switch. In other words, avoid switching presets in the middle of strumming chords. Stop strumming and create a small space of at least a few milliseconds while you switch. Normally this is quite natural; you generally want a new sound/preset (rather than just turning FX on/off) for a completely different guitar part (e.g. a solo part) - one would not naturally switch guitar parts with absolutely no interruption in the sound.
-
Sure you can do that. To set it up, connect your guitar directly to your amp and connect the mic to the MIC input on the HD500. Create a preset on the HD500 to handle the incoming mic signal. Do not use any amp in the preset; you could start with a completely 'empty' preset (no amp/FX) and then perhaps add an FX or two for level control like the studio preamp, and/or minimal processing like a touch of reverb or compression.

Naming presets is a little tedious - you need to use the little black knobs during the SAVE procedure, between the first and second hit of the SAVE button. Follow the on screen indicators and twist knobs until you see and understand what's happening. You can also save the L2t speaker mode as part of the preset; just make sure you manually set the mode you want before you save the preset.

Don't know if you've seen this thread yet........ http://line6.com/support/topic/8544-custom-magnetic-labels-for-hd500x-any-interest/ Presumably the answer to your question is 'No', but the person who originated the above thread is likely the best one to ask.

More accurately, the tuner is only available for Input 1, one of the two virtual/logical inputs. This virtual input can be set to include any of the physical inputs, including Aux. When Input 1 is set to include Aux, any instrument physically connected to the Aux input will be recognized by the tuner. Conversely, no physical input assigned only to Input 2 (including the Guitar input) is recognized by the tuner.

Try changing the strings. No way to know how long the guitar has been sitting unused. It is set up for 10 guage stings. Also, make sure you have the latest firmware installed in both your JTV and HD500X. You will find detailed firmware update procedures in the Knowledge Base section of this website, under the Support tab above. EDIT: And don't forget - it will take some time. This point was emphasized for you in your earlier thread when you were trying to decide whether or not to proceed with the purchase. Don't expect immediate results. Saying BYE BYE in only a few days is premature. You said before that you were prepared for a learning curve; it would be a mistake to let yourself get discouraged so quickly.
