Another solution, if the knob rotations don't work, is to 'park' the knobs at the min or max position when you have saved your preset and are no longer editing. These knob positions seem to be more tolerant of the jitter.
-
I believe that when you select a new amp model a set of default values for the amp parameters is loaded, replacing the current values based on the knob positions. The value will only correspond to the knob position when you move the knob again. What you describe reflects this. Despite the fact that the knob is at 15%, the Drive value is reset to the particular amp's default value when you select a new amp. This will generally be higher than 15% for high gain amps. Then when you move the knob you are able to reset the Drive value to any desired level.

StageSource Lt3 via L6 Link on Pod HD 500x
silverhead replied to bjoernm's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
Make sure your L3t is set to PA/Reference mode, and your HD500X to Studio output mode. Note that the HD500X stores the L3t mode as part of each preset. Unfortunately, the default value seems to be Electric Guitar. After selecting each preset, check the L3t mode. If necessary, manually reset the mode to PA/Reference and then SAVE the preset on the HD500. You will have to do this once for each preset; it will be recalled with the correct speaker mode in the future. -
No sound out of POD Farm 2 / Studio GX.
silverhead replied to Artied2's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
You need to connect your speakers to the GX outputs. The GX is your playback device.- 1 reply

POD X 3 sound cuts out after a while

You could experiment with a setup that could simulate a patch switch, but I doubt that it would be very successful. The setup would involve a dual path preset with the different elements in each path being controlled on/off using the toe switch. If set up properly the toe switch would turn one combination of amp/FX on while simultaneously turning the other combination off. But I suspect you would quickly run out of DSP unless the paths are really simple. Is there some situation where you think this would be more useful than simply using two patches and switching normally using a footswitch?

Is POD HD Pro programming compatible with POD HD Pro X
silverhead replied to professormaher's topic in POD HD
Try opening the HD ProX Edit program and drag/drop the HD Pro preset(s) from your computer into any preset slot in the editor. Then SEND the selected preset(s) to the POD HD ProX device. Of course, you will need to have previously saved the HD Pro presets to your computer using HD Pro Edit.- 6 replies

You may be asking about deleting a whole preset rather than just an FX within a preset. There is no way to delete a preset. You replace it with another preset. If you want, you can create what you consider to be an 'empty' preset and use that to replace others. The New Tone preset that occupies all preset slots in the User factory setlists is an example of this. The setlists come 'empty', but there is a preset in every slot. There has to be because a preset is nothing more than a set of organized 1's and 0's in the device memory. To truly delete a preset you would need to remove the associated memory in the device.

The POD UX2 should come with the USB Cable required to connect the UX2 to your computer. If not, it is a standard USB cable that only costs a few bucks; and you probably have one lying around anyway. The only other cables you will need are a standard guitar cable, plugging your guitar to the UX2 as if it were an amplifier, and a standard microphone XLR cable if you want to use a microphone for recording. I think you will be very happy with your setup. Congratulations, and please come back here if you have any issues getting things working well.

You need three things that will work with your PC to do what you want, and they are well within your budget: 1) an audio interface - a piece of hardware that will physically connect your guitar (or microphone) to your PC. This will likely include a USB cable as the physical connection. 2) a software program generically called a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) that is your recording program. There are many many commercially available options in a wide price range. To start with you could look at something like RiffWorks (for guitar/microphone only) or Reaper (which enables you to use MIDI. If you don't understand what that is yet, you don't need/want it yet). If your needs increase over time you can upgrade/replace your DAW, but both of these options are low cost (Riffworks T4 is free) and very capable. Riffworks is pretty simple, good for jamming, and aimed directly at guitarists. Reaper is more complex, powerful, and wider in scope but there'll be more of a learning curve. http://www.sonomawireworks.com/T4/ http://www.reaper.fm/ 3) a software program that runs along with your DAW, on your PC, to process the audio signal (guitar or mic) coming through your interface in #1. This is what gives you simulations of guitar amplifiers, vocal preamps, and lots of FX like chorus, reverb, delay, distortion, etc.... These are often called 'plug-ins' because they are used, and accessible from, within your DAW. Some will also run as standalone programs to be used when not recording. Items #1 and #3 are, again, readily available at low cost from many commercial sources. Since you've come to the Line 6 forums I can point you to SonicPort VX (a standalone audio interface) or one of the POD Studio series of audio interfaces (again, #1) which come packaged with a Pod Farm license (#3). http://line6.com/sonicport-audio-interface/sonicport-vx/ http://line6.com/podstudiogx/ http://line6.com/podstudioux1/ EDIT: I should point out that it's possible to record without a separate audio interface. You could just connect your guitar, with appropriate adapter, into your PC microphone input. But your PC soundcard is not really designed for this application and it opens up one problem/issue after another. You will be forever trying to improve poor to mediocre results, and you will never get as good a sound as you will by using a properly designed external audio interface. Since your budget allows it I would definitely do that.

No - the internal modeling, as well as selection of amps and FX are the same. There are i/o differences but I assume that's included in what you call design differences.

The Tuner/volume issue was reportedly fixed in the latest firmware. If you haven't yet upgraded to the latest, I suggest that's where you should start.

Your P.S. final comment says a lot. If you don't want to spend a lot of time learning the HD then stick with the X3. The HD tones are far better than the X3 in my opinion, but it usually takes time to find those tones. The HD is a very different piece of gear. It's very easy to get poor sounding tones, but when you understand how it works and learn how to build your own sounds you can get far superior tones from it. I've had the HD for years and I am still finding ways to get better tones from it. So the answer to your question really depends on you. How much time are you prepared to spend learning how to use the HD? If the answer is a few days or a couple of weeks, don't do it. If the answer is a few months, you'll be very happy in the end.

Also, make sure the global setting for Inputs is set to Preset, not Global.

Sonic Port VX - Pro Tools 11
silverhead replied to Islandboy's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Also check your Mac's general preferences. On my iPAD I had to go under Privacy and the turn on the Sonic Port mic. -
Try setting the POD as your computer's default audio device.
-
I think you should be able to move the pedal on the HD device while Edit is running, but avoid using the toe switch.
-
A common cause of symptoms like this is a loss of synchronicity between the device and the Edit program. They each maintain their own buffers for the 'active' preset and these buffers can get out of sync when you make changes using both the editor and the device itself while the Edit program is running. To minimize the chance of this, avoid touching any knobs or settings on the HD device while the Edit program is running. Make ALL changes using only the editor. Then make sure you use the editor's SEND command to save/store the changes on the device.

I have moved this thread to the POD HD forum from the Vyzex Editor forum. As you mention, you are using the Pod HD Editor, not Vyzex. Your question will get more visibility here. Note that each Pod HD product has its own editor. You mention that you are using HD Edit. You should be using HD Pro Edit. Perhaps you are, and you just made a typo. But worth checking.

Are the L3T bags worth it??
silverhead replied to geppert's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
You won't regret it. -
The factory presets in the HD500 include a Setlist that contains a number of vocal presets. I would start there and tweak as desired.

Are the L3T bags worth it??
silverhead replied to geppert's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I use the Line 6 bags for my two L3t and L3m speakers. They are definitely useful. I can't say whether they are 'worth it' because I really didn't compare against any competitive products that may be out there. But they certainly do the job for me in terms of rolling rather than carrying the speakers, and in that sense they are worth it. -
Yes - it's not.possible.

I think the Line 6 Sonic Port VX along with Pod Farm will give you a very portable and good sounding solution for Windows/Mac. If you have an iOS device then Sonic Port VX alone is an extremely portable setup because it works with iOS and includes the Mobile Pod app. All you need is the Sonic Port VX interface and a iPad or iPhone.

POD HD500x cd/mp3 input issues on L2m
silverhead replied to bluekim's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Here is a dual path preset that I made some time ago. I use it to record the wet and dry signal together, but it will serve your purpose. Assign the Aux input (your iPOD) to the dry path and use the wet path for your guitar. In this setup, Path A (the upper path in the signal chain) is assigned to Input 1 and Path B to Input 2. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/217206/- 6 replies
