  1. It's an 8 RU. I have one of these; it works well. https://www.globalfulfillment.net/gfsnet/line6/10Expand.aspx?ProductCode=98-036-0003
  2. Her are the details: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/m5-m9-m13/m5m9-firmware-update-instructions-r308
  3. No. There is no FX spillover when switching patches on any Pod HD model. You can set a global parameter to have a delay continue when it is turned off while remaining within the patch, but not when switching patches. Try arranging your patch so that the delay and distortion FX are controlled by the same foot switch. Set the global parameter mentioned above accordingly, then SAVE the patch with Delay On and Distortion Off. Henceforth when you recall the patch it will be in that state and when you subsequently hit the assigned foot switch the delay will be off, but continue ringing out, and the distortion will come on.
  4. Make sure the stereo cable is fully inserted into the Pod HD cd/mp3 input. Make sure the iPod is sending a stereo signal. Test your headphones. Also test the other outputs of the Pod HD; they should also deliver the stereo signal from the cd/mp3 input.
  5. By 'Variax capable pod' TheRealZap is referring to the Line 6 POD guitar processors. There are many models of those that support Line 6 Variax guitars.
  6. Perhaps it's the input setting. Make sure that MIC is selected as the input for either Tone1 or Tone2, and adjust the input trim setting until you get a clear input signal. The input trim setting is a little black knob beside the mic XLR input on the rear panel of the X3L.
  7. You'd be better off to use the cd/mp3 input for that purpose.
  8. I think that in general, the HD500 studio/direct output mode with a FULL amp model, including a mic/cab selection, and the physical switch set to Line might be best paired with the L3m in PA/Reference mode. This emulates a studio/gig situation where you would mic a physical guitar amp and route to the DAW/PA/mixer. You could certainly try that. With the L3m in electric guitar mode, you might try using a PRE amp model on the HD500 (no mic/cab selection) and the physical switch set to Amp. In this case the L3m emulates the cab; the setup is similar to using just the power section of a regular guitar amp (the HD500 is the preamp) so you don't need any mic because you're listening to the cab output directly. Try that setup and compare with the former. But in the end there's no 'right' setup. It boils down to what sounds best to you. Experiment with all the different combinations; you'll find out what you like best.
  9. The HD Pro looper (and other functions/features) are all controlled by midi. Your 3rd party devices should work just fine as long as you can configure them to send the required midi commands to the HD Pro. You'll find the MIDI implementation info for the HD Pro in the Documents section of this website (under the Support tab at top of this page). See Appendix C of the HD Pro X Advanced Guide.
  10. Be sure the setup eliminates fret buzz. Piezo pickups are far less tolerant of fret buzz than magnetic pups; buzzing with piezos will introduce undesirable artifacts into the resulting sound.
  11. The well known audio dropout issue that affects the X3 Live, for which Line 6 has offered a lifetime warranty and free hardware fix, is unique to the X3 Live. That's not to say that there are no usb-related audio dropout problems that can occur with the Pro or Bean, such as the ones you are describing here. But those issues are isolated to specific faults with specific devices and are not present as a general manufacturing flaw in all units of that model/family. The best thing I can suggest is to call Line 6 (see Contact Us at the foot of this page) or open a support ticket for information and (hopefully) direction. Be advised that the X3 is no longer officially supported but they might be able to point you anyway.
  12. Try these settings in your Pod HD preset: - Wah assigned to EXP1 - Vol assigned to EXP2 - use Toe Switch to turn both Wah and Vol on/off (remove your FS8 assignment to Vol) - save the preset with Wah OFF and Vol ON (or vice versa) Now each depression of the Toe Switch will toggle the Wah/Vol FX so that one will always be active, and both will be controlled by the pedal movement.
  13. On the Inputs page of the HD Pro select MIC as either Input1 or Input2. See System Setup, page 3. Press and hold the VIEW button and then use the right arrow button to get to page 3.
  14. Charlie_Watt is correct. Variax 300 alternate tunings are not available using only the HD500. The alternate tuning must be created using Workbench and stored as part of the model definition on the Variax. The HD500 can then select the stored model, which includes the stored alternate tuning.
  15. Yes - global parameters reset followed by pedal recalibration.
  16. ... and firmware updates, which can only be done via usb from your computer ..........
  17. What model of X3 do you have: Bean, Live, or Pro? I ask because there is a known audio dropout issue with the X3 Live that fits your symptoms. This specific issue is not present in the Bean or Pro. If you have the X3 Live search the X3 forum for posts that mention 'audio dropout'. There is a lifetime warranty for any X3 Live that has this issue. You will find details there; it requires servicing at an authorized Line 6 service center.
  18. The volume pedal operates independently; it does not control the volume of any amp or FX that also happens to be in the signal chain. Your Treadplate volume remains at 60% regardless of the VOL pedal setting.
  19. I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but perhaps one of these dual-path presets will be a useful starting point for you. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/215659/ http://line6.com/customtone/tone/217206/
  20. You will find the MIDI implementation tables in the Product Manuals section under the Support tab above. Select the All Products option to make the Pod xt visible in the Effects section. Select the Pod xt and locate the MIDI manual.
  21. You could also try holding down the right nav key while powering on. Use the up/down arrows to select the option that includes the word FLASH. Then run Line 6 Monkey to reinstall the firmware.
  22. No - none of those fit. Contact Line 6 directly (See Contact Us button at the foot of this page) for a referral to a local parts supplier.
  23. The one I have looks like the 'shelf' nut style, not the 'retrofit'. I chose the black one but I'm not sure whether it's 1 5/8" or 1 11/16".
  24. An alternative for your #2 situation is to leave the M20d out of the setup. Connect your 2 L3t via bi-directional L6 LINK and use their two onboard side-panel mixers for your guitar and vocal inputs. Putting your acoustic guitars into Channel 1 of each speaker allows you to use the L3t Acoustic Guitar modeling, which I find delivers a better result than an M20d preset. As for vocals, use Channel 2; there is less flexibility here than with the M20d in terms of FX but results are still very good. Your keyboard can go into the rear-panel line inputs on one of the L3t. Both L3t speakers will deliver the full 5-input sound. And you still have additional rear-panel inputs if you need them. And you are right: the virtue of the L6 Link compatibility among all devices comes with a price tag. Other speakers will work just fine, but the L3t will be better. I find the sound quality/clarity of the L3 speakers to be exceptional on their own even without the L6 Link benefits. Are they worth the extra $$? Only you can decide that. Is there a return period for the L3t? Maybe you can temporarily acquire alternate speakers during this period and compare with your L3t. Then return whichever set you want.
