  1. Can you post a recording that contains the ghosting? Make sure you are capturing only the modelled sound, not also capturing the mag pickups simultaneously (a POD HD as well as Workbench will allow you to capture/record both). This will confirm that the ghost notes are, in fact, being produced within the modeling software and are not simply the natural acoustic vibrations of the string. In my experience with the Variax JTV you do, in fact, need to have the amplified sound very loud to completely overcome the natural acoustic sound. However, the acoustic sound will not be passed to your DAW. A recording is the definitive way to rule out the acoustic sound as the cause of the ghosting. If you hear it in a recording then the modeling is at fault; if you don't hear itin the recording then it is the acoustic sound that is the cause, despite what one may think. Please note - I am not claiming that you are hearing the acoustic sound. I'm simply saying that a recording will give a definitive answer about it.
  2. The POD X3 is a discontinued product. I don't know whether Line 6 is planning to keep updating the drivers indefinitely. At some point driver updates will stop. Is this that point? I don't know.
  3. When using Gearbox, you must use the PUT command to send/store the current preset to the X3 device.
  4. Yes. There is a global setting in the Setup menus that controls this behaviour. I forget exactly what it's called, but you can change the setting so that the current FX settings remain when you switch the amp. Look for this setting in Setup.
  5. I suggest you raise a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 tech support on this.
  6. Also, my patch was not specifically made for recording the guitar and vocals simultaneously on separate tracks. To do that you will need to use the Pod HD mixer to pan the paths full L and R, and then select the L and R channels separately in two tracks when you arm them for recording in your DAW.
  7. An authorized Line 6 service centre will repair any Line 6 device as outlined above. However, a used Variax 600 will certainly be out of warranty and the repairs may be expensive and time consuming. You may be better off to find a local guitar tech. I would (and did) start there. In my case I did not need an electronics guy too, but it's possible that you might.
  8. I posted a patch to Customtone some time ago that illustrates the required setup. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/215659/
  9. Firmware v2.32 specifically addresses this issue. Please confirm that you are running v2.32. If so, try reinstalling the firmware.
  10. Assign the two FX to the same FS. Turn one FX On and the other Off. Save the preset in that state.
  11. In Settings, select Privacy, then Microphone. Turn the Mobile Pod mic ON.
  12. Are they better? I think so, based on replacing my original LR Baggs with Graphtech. Are they worth it? I think so, but that's really up to you.
  13. Check your Pan settings. There is a bug in the X3 such that a pan setting of 100% actually allows some bleed through. Back off the Pan a small bit and see if that helps.
  14. Yes - you could use two L2t (or L3t) speakers either not connected to each other at all or connected via bi-directional L6 LINK, meaning the L6 LINK OUT from each connected to the L6 LINK IN of the other. The former will give you clear L/R separation with each speakers' inputs heard only through that speaker. The latter will result in each speaker's inputs being heard through both speakers. However, there is no PAN feature in the speaker mixers so there won't really be any stereo effect unless it's provided by an external source and fed into the stereo inputs on the L2/3t. Each speaker has a balanced stereo mix output that could be used to feed monitor(s). This setup can carry a duo, or even a trio, a long way before you would need to add the M20d. Have a look at some possible setups at the bottom of this page particularly the 10-input setup with two speakers: http://line6.com/stagesource-pa-speaker/resources/ .
  15. No - you can't get the analog mp3 input signal to be routed through the digital s/pdif output. That's because the mp3 input signal is not converted to digital format inside the HD500 device; the mp3 input is routed directly to the analog outputs.
  16. Three suggestions, to be tried in order: 1) Carefully inspect the D string piezo; blow/brush it to clear off what may be a small piece of dirt in the saddle area. 2) Use Workbench to increase the volume of the D string so that it matches the rest of the strings. 3) Take the JTV in for servicing to inspect a possibly faulty piezo or associated wiring on the D string.
  17. 'Good bang for your buck' does not mean 'there's nothing better at any price'.
  18. You are definitely restricted to Line 6 devices that have the VDI connection. Wanting a floor model restricts you further, eliminating the 'Pro' devices. The current 'best' floor model being manufactured is the HD500X. It's predecessor the HD500 is identical in terms of features but has less DSP capacity; it is available on the used market. Earlier models such as the Pod X3 Live and the Pod xt Live also support changing models (but not alternate tunings) on the JTV. With these models you would need to use Workbench in advance to create the desired alternate tuning and then load the preset into the JTV device, to be recalled on demand by the Pod. As for price.... Google and eBay are your friends.
  19. It's worth a try to copy your existing patch to a new one and then use the Pod's cab/mic modeling to recreate your tone. Run the Pod's USB to Reaper, set your Output mode to Studio Direct, and monitor the sound using studio monitors or headphones connected to the Pod's outputs. It will take some tweaking but you should be able to find something close to your tone among the available mic/cab options and the Cab deep edit parameters.
  20. 1) It depends on how your tone is currently being created. If you are currently using just the HD500 to create your tone, and using Studio Direct output mode to a PA/Mixer then it should be as simple as connecting the HD500 to your computer via USB. Set your DAW to use the HD500 and its ASIO driver as the audio input/output device and you're good to go. However, if your tone involves an external guitar amplifier and you are using the HD500 in one of its Live Output Modes then in order to record your tone you will need to mic your amp. In that case you will also need an external audio interface to connect to your computer/DAW. 2) Reaper is great bang for the buck. It has a bit of a learning curve if you've been out of the game for a while, but stick with it.
  21. When using HD Edit to make changes, do not also make changes using the HD device. This can cause 'lost updates' due to a loss of synchronicity between the device and the Edit program. Rule of thumb: avoid even touching any knobs on the HD device when the Edit program is running.
  22. Correct. The POD HD500 is not a true MIDI device and will not be recognized as such by any computer. However, it does handle certain MIDI commands over the USB connection among some applications (e.g. HD Edit, DAWs).
  23. There has been an update to the Stagescape mixer firmware. Check to see that you have the latest.
  24. Make sure that your guitar is plugged into the guitar input jack, and then make sure that Input 1 for the preset includes Guitar. Then test the tuner.
  25. I don't know either. I've never used my Pocket Pod with Monkey - the only time it's connected to my computer is to run Vyzex.
