  1. Are you running Pod Farm to process the incoming signal? If so, apply one of the mic preamps (see factory vocal presets).
  2. Have you engaged the phantom power on the UX2 (the +48v button)? Condenser mics need this.
  3. @cruisonon2: I wonder if there is a usb conflict somewhere in your setup. For instance, the Line 6 usb drivers are known to not get along with some Logitech usb drivers, especially a Logitech webcam device. Essentially, every usb device that is connected to your computer while updating firmware is a potential conflict. To reduce the crapshoot element, it might be useful to disconnect all other usb devices while updating.
  4. Yes, the Pod XT and X3 series with VDI support will change JTV models just like they did with the original Variax models. But that's all they do - they don't support the new JTV features like alt tuning or using the JTV knobs as controllers. And they remain compatible only with the original Workbench, not Workbench HD.
  5. Are you trying to use Workbench HD? It is not compatible with Pod XTL. Workbench HD v2.1 is compatible with the POD HD devices that support VDI.
  6. If a power cycle doesn't fix it, or if it happens again, I would back up the system and reinstall the firmware. EDIT: Take ArneLine6's advice rather than mine. He's the man with the Live Sound stuff!
  7. This sounds like something is wrong in the M20d itself or with an L6 LINK cable very early in the chain - the one leading from the M20d or from the first speaker connected to it. After testing all cables I would update the M20d firmware.
  8. Not really a mixer; the only controls after the input are on CH1 and CH2. It's a 5-input speaker. The' mixing' (e.g. volume leveling) has to be done using the external devices.
  9. Do you happen to have the Line 6 M20d mixer? If so you could try reinstalling the speaker firmware. Otherwise I guess you have to decide whether this is sufficiently troublesome for you to look into a warranty repair.
  10. Let me help you try to get it off your mind: 1) Only Line 6 knows. Don't hold your breath waiting for them to answer you. 2) Same as #1. 3) No. Try to move on.
  11. You go right ahead with that. Just a suggestion: don't use this website to post your results.
  12. Don't shoot the messenger. And don't hold your breath waiting for the answer you want to hear. It ain't coming.
  13. Make sure your guitar volume knob is not set to zero (sleep mode).
  14. Does this happen only with the one speaker without any other connections? To test, disconnect both speakers from all other devices, including each other if using L6 LINK, and try powering each on in isolation. This will determine whether the snap is within the speaker itself or related to the connections.
  15. The procedure for using the HD500x device as a general MIDI controller is described in the HD500x Advanced Guide in Appendix B, in the subsection titled "Using POD HD500 as a MIDI Controller Device". You could also try using HD500x Edit. I think the procedure is more clear using the editor.
  16. I think you know the answer to that. The retailer has your money, not Line 6. As Line 6 has stated, they will fix the problem for all affected customers on an individual basis when the fix is ready. They won't give you a refund. Nor, I expect, would any manufacturer under similar circumstances. In happens routinely in all industry sectors. Manufacturing problems are fixed by reputable manufacturers. Money is not refunded except within the original sales return period, which is a retailer feature - not the manufacturer.
  17. You've made yourself very clear; your English is better than you think! It depends on your amp. You need to find out what MIDI commands your amp will respond to for changing channels, and then add this command to your HD500x preset using the MIDI Assign page in HD500x Edit (or directly on the HD500x device). Then when you select the preset this command will be sent from the HD500x MIDI Out port. Connect the MIDI Out port either directly to your amp's MIDI In port, or your AMT FS2 MIDI In port (in which case you need to connect your AMT FS2 MIDI Out/Through port to your amp).
  18. Not sure exactly what you mean. You can buy a standard table, build a simple one using basic wood materials and a few tools, or consult YouTube to get carpentry directions and tips. Not sure how this community can help you.
  19. Yes. When your Studio GX is connected to your PC and you are running Pod Farm, the GX is your computer's soundcard. All audio produced by your computer, including Pod Farm output and general audio from YouTube, WinMedia Player, iTunes, etc. will be routed to your GX and you can monitor the mix at the GX audio outputs connected to headphones or external speakers/monitors.
  20. Yes you will definitely get better quality by going the second route, and it's entirely due to the difference in audio interfaces, not due to the analog/digital difference. The Pod HD500 is a much better audio interface than a low-end USB interface. In both cases your are connecting an analog cable/input (your guitar) into an audio interface device and using its USB digital output to your PC. The difference is in the interface device itself. I think the real question is whether you want/need the main features of the Pod HD500, which are its amp and FX modeling capabilities. That's where the majority of the cost/value is with the HD500. If you don't want/need those capabilities you could be better off buying a higher-end usb interface that it just that - just an interface, but one as good or better than the HD500 audio interface capabilities for a lower price.
  21. Did you update both Workbench HD and the JTV firmware? For me Workbench takes less than 10 seconds to upload all preset from the Variax, and I think that's what most people are experiencing based on reports here.
  22. I haven't noticed that the models change any more quickly, just more smoothly (no popping sound). There is an unavoidable lag/delay of some duration when switching models that is not present with the mags. The technical reality is that the Variax must spend a few milliseconds transferring data (the model definition) from stored memory to working memory. That operation is not necessary when switching the mags. That lag time can be minimized but it can't be zero. If this update reduced it I can't notice it.
  23. I don't know whether it applies to those in this thread but I can confirm that in general fret buzz is a very bad thing for the piezos. Any fret buzz at all can cause anomalies in the sound produced by the Variax modeling DSP. Again, whether that is a contributing factor in this case can only be determined by those experiencing the issue.
  24. You don't even need to rename them - the HD500 and HD500x patches are completely compatible. Just save the HD500x patches to your computer using HD500x Edit. Then disconnect your HD500x and connect your HD500. Then open HD500 Edit and drag/drop the patches into the desired preset slots. Then SEND them to your HD500 device.
  25. There's one compromise you are making with this setup. That is flexibility of FX placement in the signal chain. You are losing the option to place any FX in the PRE amp position. All the HD500X FX are positioned after the pre-amp section of your amp. That measns, for instance, when you apply an FX like a conpressor, the compression isn't happening until after the raw guitar signal has been processed by your preamp. Normally, players prefer FX like compression, distortion, and sometimes EQ in the PRE position. But there's no right or wrong here. You just need to be aware of it and perhaps experiment with the differences to see which you prefer.
