The only differences are in the I/O. The processing and processors, including their capacity, are the same.

Specifically, you need the HD500 Edit software; there are different editors for each Pod HD model. Run Line 6 Monkey with your HD500 connected. It will guide you through the HD500 Edit download and installation process.

String Change Made A Difference
silverhead replied to zacflame's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I think there's a misconception among some JTV owners that strings don't really make much difference with a modeling guitar; that the piezos will only pick up the basic frequency (pitch) vibration and that the more subtle nuances of string age and type don't really matter. In my experience that's far from the truth. New strings, as well as different types of strings, make just as much difference with the JTV models as they do with any 'normal' guitar. -
Need Real Answers Before A Jtv69 Purchase!
silverhead replied to linea06's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
You can use a dual-path/amp preset to control the amp part. Assign the same FS to control the amp on/off, and save the preset with one amp on and the other off. You would need to change the JTV model manually, but you can use Workbench to configure your JTV so that this involves no more than flipping the pickup selector switch (no need to use the Model Select knob). Surely there's no complaint about having to stomp a footswitch and change the pickup selector at the same time mid-song. Every guitarist does that with analog equipment. -
Need Real Answers Before A Jtv69 Purchase!
silverhead replied to linea06's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I remember testing this some time ago. If I recall correctly there is a popping noise that is audible, and the inevitable small audio gap is noticeable, when you change presets while actively strumming the guitar. However, both become inaudible if you adjust your playing a tiny bit to allow the strings to be muted while you change presets. In other words, I believe you can change presets mid-song effectively if you allow a slight pause in the action. But my memory may fail me.... give it a try. -
If I understand correctly, I think you could use both JTV outputs: VDI to the HD500X and 1/4" to your stompbox in front of the HD500X, then stompbox output to HD500X Guitar In. In your HD500X preset, select Input1=Guitar and make sure Input2 is NOT set to Variax or Variax Mags. This effectively allows you to use the VDI connection for HD500X->JTV control purposes only (not audio) and your JTV 1/4" -> HD500X for audio.

Find Serial Number ?
silverhead replied to Azteca1's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
I guess that's possible but it would surprise me. I don't think the device serial number is available to Monkey. In my previous experience (I no longer have my Pocket Pod) it is provided by the user/owner upon registration. -
Find Serial Number ?
silverhead replied to Azteca1's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
If the serial number is not visible anywhere on the device it may have been removed. Not that uncommon in a 'buyer beware' market like eBay, especially when no original packaging is involved. Who knows where it was stolen.... erm,.... I mean .... obtained. But without a valid serial number you won't be able to register it. -

Have you looked inside the battery compartment? -
I guess it depends on what you want a B-rig for. If it's intended to be a backup for an A-rig then you may not want to sacrifice quality and tone; you may want the B-rig to sound just as good. But if you want a much cheaper B-rig then you surely can't expect it to sound as good.

The latest Pod HD firmware is v1.2. There is no v2.0. There is a v2.0 for the JTV firmware, and a v2.01 for Workbench HD. Perhaps that is what you are thinking of?

I bought a 64G version of the card listed in the Line 6 Store on this website: https://www.globalfulfillment.net/gfsnet/line6/10Expand.aspx?ProductCode=97-000-0024 I had a bit of trouble formatting it in FAT32 but once formatted it has not given me any problem. The 64G vs 32G size hasn't given me any trouble (yet?).

Hd500 - Line 5 Monkey Can't Install Driver On My Windows 7 64 Pc
silverhead replied to moonmusic's topic in POD HD
When the middle block of the USB port gets displaced/lost the issue is not resolved by simply replacing the port. An internal electronic part also needs to be replaced. That's what an authorized repair centre would do, and what Jim perhaps did not do. If it wasn't done, that's likely the cause of your ongoing USB connectivity issues. -
The reason you're not getting any response is that nobody here (we're all users like you) knows the answer to your question. Open a support ticket and ask Line 6. But the answer will be something like..."I'm not aware of any plans at this time"... with the unspoken truth that even if they were aware, they aren't saying until/unless it is officially announced and available.
-
This is not usual behaviour; makes me suspect the device is faulty. It happens. If it's new, I would return it and get a replacement. If used, I would try to get a refund from the seller. In either case - is it now working? Do you have a technical question that we could help you with? Did you open support ticket to work with Line 6 to resolve things? Ranting and threatening is generally not productive in a user/community forum.

Marketing Overhype
silverhead replied to silverhead's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I have locked this thread now because the joke is over. For readers who may have missed it, yesterday (April Fool's Day) Line 6 posted some very funny information on its home page as a realistic-looking joke. The info is now gone from the home page and this thread is obsolete. The joke is still visible here: http://line6.com/pickbot Stay tuned next year!! -
Line 6 has really done it this time..... ;) http://line6.com/

Have you tried different headphones? Maybe it's those, not the Pod, that has failed.

@GTLazer: Yes, you're right. The XLR output from the HD500 can go to the Mic input on the monitor. I forgot that the Line/Amp switch on the HD500 only applies to the 1/4" outputs; the XLR always sends a mic-level signal. Thanks for the correction.
-
First, set your HD500 Output switch on the top panel of the HD500 to Line (not Amp). You can use either the 1/4" L/MONO output from the HD500 (with adapter) or either of the XLR outputs from the HD500 to connect to the XLR Line (not Mic) input on your monitor. The difference is that the 14/" output will sum the signal to mono while the XLR output will not. But you can use the HD500 Mixer (per preset) to force the mono signal from the XLR output if you wish. The Line and Mic inputs on your monitor are not the same. They expect different signal levels as inputs.
-
If you bought it new, return it for replacement. If used, try using contact cleaner on the buttons/switches.
-
Try removing the Input2=MIC setting. I am going from memory here and from a different device, so this could be wrong but.... I recall using the Vocoder long ago with my Pod X3 Live. The association of the Mic to the Vocoder FX was automatic; no input assignment was required because the Vocoder is designed to use the mic input by default. I believe that by assigning Input2=MIC you are forcing the MIC input through the full signal chain, when all you want is to have the mic input used by the Vocoder FX. I think this may happen automatically. EDIT: Here's an old post I dug up to illustrate. The implementation may have changed in the Pod HD vs. X3, but here's how it worked in the X3: Re: How does the Vocoder work? by silverhead on 2010-03-03 06:27:27 Use Guitar as your Input setting for the Tone. When you select and turn on the Vocoder as an effect for the Tone the X3 will automatically start to use the Mic Input as a trigger for the guitar. Your guitar will no longer sound (even thought it remains the selected input for the Tone) until the X3 detects a signal at the Mic input.
