  1. In Pod Farm, go to the Mixer page and make sure you have the Guitar input selected.
  2. Re: the JC-120 distortion...... I had an exchange in another thread yesterday with user named RipperShred. We (respectfully, I hope ;)) disagreed on whether the JC-120 should be included in the Vintage amp pack or the Metal pack. Turns out the main point of distinction is the Distortion feature on the JC-120. I happen to share the view expressed by Zap above. However, RipperShred pointed out that it is exactly this feature that makes the JC-120 a favorite in the metal world. After all, Metallica is a very successful band with a huge following and James Hetfield (yes, I do know who he is :P ) is apparently a big proponent of the JC-120. Just goes to show ya.... one man's ceiling is another man's floor (or something like that). Different strokes for different folks ... whatever. Thanks to RipperShred for educating me on the metal-worthiness of the JC-120. The moral of this story is.... use the distortion knob on the JC-120 at your own risk! :o
  3. Not sure which aspect of the NAMM announcement you're referring to. Firehawk does support VDI.
  4. I think there are two ways. It's been along time since I've used the X3 but if I recall..... - there's a footswitch you can use to toggle between Tone 1, Tone 2, and Dual Tone. I believe when you select the Tone 1 position you will not see/hear Tone 2 - in the Outputs page of the preset you can MUTE Tone 2.
  5. Try calibrating the pedal. See FAQ here: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-20-podxt-family-pocket-pod-floorpods/podxt-series-troubleshooting-and-calibration-r489
  6. I doubt it. Making an old amp work on the HD is very different from making old patches compatible. There's a lot more than an amp that goes into a patch. The HD preset and signal processing architecture does not support XT patches.
  7. The release of Firehawk doesn't cause products with L6 Link to stop working. Fear not. Firehawk is not meant to replace or be the successor of the Pod HD line.
  8. The update is free (global EQ and some optimization). You don't have to pay for more amps if you don't want to.
  9. If you look into the details you'll see it is described as 'coming soon'.
  10. Yes, I was being facetious. Thanks for taking it well. I don't want to get into a debate here; the only purpose of my first post was to point out that it's generally incorrect to express a personal opinion as being representative of a group (in this case vintage players and your claim that 'no one in the vintage community wants that amp'). I appreciate the enlightenment that the JC-120 is a well used amp in metal. I truly didn't know that and wouldn't have expected it. After all, the 'JC' stands for Jazz Chorus. This amp is well known (arguably better known?) as one of the cleanest amps of all time, and most of the people I have heard clamouring for it want a pristine clean tone. That's not what I think of when I think of metal. Peace! Now, since I'm still awake I guess I should continue to browse this forum!
  11. I have never played metal in my life, and don't intend to start. My first real amp 20 years ago was the JC-55, and I have wanted a JC-120 ever since. I certainly call it vintage. Digital_Igloo, if you're listening - please don't change this. It would be a kick in the nuts to have to buy the whole metal pack, which I would never use, just to get this one vintage amp. (speaking for one in the vintage community)
  12. Your old Pod Farm license is probably tied to your UX1, meaning the UX1 must be connected for Pod Farm to run. If you get rid of the UX1 your Pod Farm license goes with it.
  13. You will need a license for the hardware independent version of Pod Farm v2.5. That version of Pod Farm will work with the audiofuse.
  14. I think the cloud-based tone auditioning will be too sluggish for live use. For live playing live you still want to prepare the Firehawk device with your on board set of 128 presets. Recalling these will be virtually instantaneous as usual. In any situation where you are downloading a tone from the cloud/internet to a device (iOS or PC/Mac), whether via Bluetooth or usb, there will inevitably be a delay that renders it impractical for switching presets mid-song.
  15. The HD-ness is in the fact that Firehawk runs the HD amp models, although only one amp/path in a preset. It supports 128 on-board presets arranged in the usual 32 banks of 4. However, using the mobile app/editor you have access to an unlimited number of 'cloud' presets that can be played instantly. Unlike the current Customtone library for the POD HD, where you must individually download and transfer a tone to audition in the Pod, the Firehawk library presets are immediately available for selection. You can select them not only via the results of a Tone Search, but each user also has their personal cloud-based My Tones library. You can store an unlimited number of favourite tones there and have instant access to them all whenever you have the mobile app running. So the device-based limit of 128 only applies when you are not running the mobile app. Users are also able to publish tones to the cloud so, over time, a cloud based library of Firehawk HD-amp tones will grow.
  16. You are mistaken. The X3 includes a license for version 1 of Pod Farm. You will need to purchase a v2.5 license if you want it. But you are entitled to the full Platinum version of the original Pod Farm. If you haven't tried that yet you should, and then decide whether the upgrade is worth it to you. Run Line 6 Monkey with the X3 Live connected. It will help you download and install Pod Farm.
  17. Pod HD presets will not be compatible because Firehawk does not support dual paths. Tone matching uses the pre-HD tone library, same as AMPLIFi.
  18. Yes. Open Line 6 Edit (or Gearbox, I think) and SAVE the desired presets to a folder on your computer. Then either move those files into your Pod Farm folder, or direct your DAW to include the source folder in its list of plug-in folders.
  19. Actually, I believe it's either in cm or degrees C. Not sure which.
  20. Well. NOW you've done it! What the he!! does 'at least' mean??
  21. After you replace the DT with the L2t you will have to make sure the output mode and mic/cab selections on the HD500X match the recommended speaker mode on the L2t. You may be used to using the PRE amps on the HD500X and letting the DT provide the speaker cabinet. If you want to continue doing this, set the L2t speaker mode to Electric guitar. In fact, this is the default setting for the speaker mode that is stored in every HD500X preset so there's really nothing for you to reconfigure. However, you may want to use the L2t as a PA speaker rather than a simulation of a guitar cab. You should at least experiment with this setup. Set the L2t speaker mode to PA/Reference and use the full (not pre) amp selections on the POD preset. Select your preferred mic/cab simulation on the POD. If you want to go this way for all presets, you will need to reset the stored speaker mode in every HD500X preset. To do this - select the preset, manually change the mode to PA/Reference on the L2t, and then SAVE the preset using the Pod (not HD500X Edit). You only need to do this once for each preset; after that the speaker mode will be reset to PA/Reference each time the preset is recalled on the POD. In both of the above cases you should set the POD output mode switch to Line, not Amp. EDIT: the strikethrough text is not relevant using L6 Link.

    Sound On Sound

True. I meant loss of quality with each layer of overdubbing. While using 1/2 speed results in loss of quality over full speed, there is no further loss of quality even in 1/2 speed with each iteration of overdubbing. It's the compounding of the quality loss in the original sound-on-sound that was a big problem with it.
