Your guitar will come with a Workbench hardware interface device about the size of your fist, and with the two cables you need to connect this device to your computer via USB and to your guitar via the VDI jack. You do not need to purchase a separate VDI cable. Your guitar will also come with a good battery and charger that should get you through most playing sessions. Recharge as required. I am not 100% sure about the XPS hardware requirements for power.

How to connect Pod HD Pro via interface(UX2) for recording
silverhead replied to DKawlum's topic in POD HD
You can record a mono wet and dry tone (almost dry - there is an extra A/D conversion at input) simultaneously using the HD Pro as the audio interface. Here is a preset designed for that: http://line6.com/customtone/tone/217206/ You will need a separate audio interface (the UX2 won't do) if you want to re-amp the recorded dry signal using the HD Pro. Your other re-amp alternative is to use Pod Farm with the UX2 connected for licensing purposes. You can use the UX2 to record a completely dry signal (no extra A/D conversion) from the HD Pro Dry output to the L input of the UX2. This signal is tapped directly from the HD Pro analog Guitar input (not Variax/VDI). You may also be able to record a mono wet signal simultaneously by routing the 1/4" L (which sums to mono) HD Pro output to the UX2 R input. In the DAW, record the UX2 L and R outputs into two separate mono tracks, making sure they are both fully panned to avoid signal mixing. This will give you the same result as the above Customtone preset except it eliminates the extra A/D conversion on the dry signal. You can use different setups for the recording vs. re-amping stages of your workflow. Use one of the two setups described here to record the dry signal, and wet simultaneously if you wish. Then use the UX2 and Pod Farm to reamp, or get a multi-channel audio interface to use the HD Pro to re-amp.- 1 reply

Note that some of the factory presets are designed for vocals. Hence the Input is set to MIC, not guitar. You certainly won't hear anything if you're trying to play your guitar with those presets.

Pod Farm VST running without interface
silverhead replied to Beaumont57530's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
If your Pod Farm license came bundled with your UX2 then you need your UX2 connectd to have acces to all the amps and FX. If you want to be able to use the full version without your UX2 connected you will need to purchase the hardware independent version of Pod Farm. -
Yes.

Yes, you can audition a tone before deciding whether to tweak and save it. And you can save the desired tones either to the Firehawk device or to your own personal My Tones space in the cloud.. Or both!

You could use the 2-channel mixer on the side panel of the L3t for your two mics if you wish.

HD500 - firmware update doesn't work - "error opening midi ports"
silverhead replied to lastfirst's topic in POD HD
Try temporarily disconnecting your other USB devices, especially the camera. Turn off your computer and restart with the other devices disconnected. -
You may actually have the looper in post mode. Note that in the looper controls display, the display tells you what mode the looper WILL be in if you hit the corresponding footswitch. In other words, if the display says PRE the looper is currently in POST mode.

It should work with the usb cable. Make sure you are using a usb 2.0 port, and do not use any usb hubs. Try different USB ports on your computer. -
Charge ipad/iphone while using Sonic Port
silverhead replied to tbenkula's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
You can do this with Sonic Port VX but not with the original Sonic Port. -
Yes, what you are trying to do is clear. And no, it can't be done. That's why the looper in the Pod HD is not very practical for live play. It's useful for tone shaping (PRE position) and for practicing solos (POST position). If you want to do looping for live play you will need a dedicated looper pedal.

Timeframe for the X devices is end of March. No idea what delay to expect for the later release.

If I understand correctly, the dry signal that was previously recorded is being fed from your DAW through an audio interface as input to your Pod HD Pro and from there to your FX/amp where it is mic'd and routed back through your interface and recorded as a wet signal in your DAW. It now sounds different than if you simply connect your guitar (rather than the recorded dry signal) to the Pod input. Assuming that is correct, here's the first diagnostic step I would take: Turn off your amp, use headphones with the Pod HD pro, and compare the sound produced by your Pod based on the dry input signal received from your DAW to the sound based on the input signal direct from your guitar. The two different inputs should sound the same as they leave your Pod through the headphones. If they do sound the same then the problem is with recording the wet/re-amped signal. If they sound different then the problem is that the recorded dry signal is not properly recorded, or its level is off. Please try that and report back.

Yes, that's what I mean. Except I would avoid using Channels 1 and 2 in case they would be treated as a stereo pair. If you are using Channel 1 to send the dry signal DAW output to your Pod HD Pro input, I would use Channel 3 to receive the mic'd amp signal back into your DAW. And yes, use amp (instrument) level output from the Pod to your amp.

Yes. The firmware for the 500x and the ProX will be released first. The HD500, Pro, and Desktop releases will be later.

Even when not fully illuminated each assigned footswitch in a preset is semi-illuminated so that the FX colour is visible. Unassigned footswitches are not illuminated at all; assigned footswitches with an FX that is OFF are semi-illuminated; ON FX are fully illuminated.

HD500 switching on/off footswitch or abcd mode?

Oooops. Thanks for the correction, phil_m. Just another symptom of my failing memory. -
HD500 switching on/off footswitch or abcd mode?

You use the up/down footswitches that change banks if you're in ABCD mode. When in FS5-8 mode they move you to the previous/next preset rather than bank. -
Seems theres something on the way for guitarists at NAMM

if it's implemented like their other software products (e.g. Pod Farm) the firmware build will include all available packs and options, but the ones you need to pay for will be locked and probably invisible. Then you will make an online purchase and download that will unlock the purchased products. I doubt that the local retailer will be involved in the process. ... But that's just my guess - no inside info here. -
Whether or not you'd like it to be published information, the fact is that it's not. So you can complain about it here, or you can open a support ticket and ask Line 6. If you're having symptoms, you should be opening a support ticket, regardless of any tech bulletins.
-
The tech bulletin describes the detailed technical procedures for an authorized service centre to repair a hardware problem. The nature and impact of the problem is more relevant to the customers, and that can be found via Google. I posted some links earlier in this thread.

Not sure if you made a typo, but if both are balanced why would you anticipate a problem? I suggest you use XLR cables.
