If the TU-2 uses the same power supply as the TU-12 you can power it with the HD power supply. I've done it with the TU-12

More like auto wah-ish. Doesn't work for me somehow. But do try it, it may work fine for you. Auto wah is the only effect I really miss in the HD500.

I agree with all you say. The only problem is that you also misinterpret the reason for this thread. This was not supposed to be a thread to tell what you would like to see in the next update but what you expect L6 to put in it. Hence the "Expectations" part. ;) There are plenty of threads about wishes, no need for more. :) Let us know what you expect!

Hi fellow musicians, Has anybody tried using the ZOOM G3 together with the HD500? I used to have a MXR EQ as a global EQ but it got stolen along with my HD500 and guitar :angry: I have replaced the guitar with a better one and the HD500 with the HD500X but still miss my global EQ. I first thought I would just get a new MXR but stumbled on the ZOOM G5, which is about € 20,- more and has two EQ's on board next to many, many more effects. It can have 6 effects in the chain of which three will be used as individual stompboxes. I am thinking about putting it in the effects loop at the end of the chain. This way I can have my global EQ and three extra effects in my chain. I would like to hear your thoughts about this idea. Even better would be if anybody has tried this and can share his/her experiences. Regards, Tal Wilkins

Yes the rubber band thing really works quite well! My HD500 got stolen a couple of months ago and I got a HD500X now. The rubber band trick doesn't work there because of the shape of the new switches (which I have to say really are a lot better IMO). I solved it there by first putting some rubber band around it and then putting a Chapstick lip balm cap over it. The rubber band makes it stay there. Whenever I want to use the looper I just pull off the cap :)

I also got an external EQ but mailny for the reason of having global EQ which is really necessary to adjust to different venue's. I feel I can usually get great sounds without using EQ in the POD so I don't really mind. What I really hate about the EQ's is that they are very prone to clipping when sitting behind an amp in the chain. Yesterday I was attempting a clean patch with a Fender amp. I had an EQ behind it, but I got clipping. Until I turned it off! What also really surprised me was that the EQ was altering the sound, even when turned off. When I removed the EQ alltogether the sound was much better compared to the EQ sitting there turned off! Now tell me that ain't wrong.

How would this work with the DT-25 HD500 combination?

I understand what you're saying. Technically it a new device and because it's not registered before you can register as the Original owner. Still, it's not the price Avis sells them for. Formally it is a second hand unit (just unused and unregistered). Do you know what part of the Original price (€800) is for the Pro Tools? If you know that you also know what the unit would cost without the software. I agree the reamping is a great featur the POD misses and there are probably more, but please try to compare things on an even base. By the way 2 x 350 makes 700, the HD500 is 500! Even without the question if the Eleven Rack is second hand or not, it's certainly not half the price.

In that case Deandinosaur's argument is invalid. You can't say elevenRack is half the price if you look at the second hand market (it's never used but still second hand).

When I google for Eleven Rack they seem to cost € 250 to €350 more than a HD500(X). So what do you mean with half the price?

Yeah,the effects on the GT are really good. I agree the programming is intense but I found it a bit more logical and being an IT guy I liked being able to tweak just about anything. I'm much happier with the HD though.

I owned a GT-10 for a couple of years. For me the switch to the HD500 was a blessing. My sound was so much better from the very start and has gotten a lot better since after learning to use the unit. Of course it's all subjective and you might feel the same way after going to BOSS but I sincerely doubt it. I do think the GT is a bit easier to use and has a bit better editing possibilities. I also still miss a few amps and effects like the Matchless and auto wah. I've looked at a HD500 vs GT-100 review and I tried to be as objective as possible. Most of the time the HD seemed to sound more organic and natural. I think I liked only one or two sounds from the GT. Still, that's not really the best way to hear the difference, then you would have to sit down with the two yourself. It's your choice ;-)

I'm not sure it works that way with the POD. it would probably mean reflashing the whole thing with a custom flashfile and might not be such a good idea. It would be a major software change, a totally different concept. Of course I could be wrong. :) If they do release more amps to the 500X that would make it more appealing. Otherwise many people would just as well get the 500 for a lower price (they must drop the price on the 500 now). Unless they stop selling the 500 altogether of course. I still have the feeling L6 will have some nice updates in the future that might not apply for the 500. which is not saying they won't deliver anymore updates to the 500. Just maybe a bit different ones.

It's hard to now exactly but it looks to me there is about 20 - 25% more headroom in the 5oox. They say they can put 5 '63 spring reverbs, a plate reverb, a V Tron in the 500X. At that point it won't even accept a volume pedal so it's pretty much maxed out. I tried it on a 500 and found I could get the same result adding the volume pedal with 4 '63 spring reverbs. The estimation that the '63 spring reverbe uses about 20 - 25% DSP gets me to my conclusion. I really think the 500X is more an update than an upgrade. It's a continuation of the 500 with a bit better specs, hence the name (it's still a 500). I don't think this is bad since it also sells at the same price as the 500, which to me is also a sign that it is essentially an update.It does mean L6 will be supporting the HD line for the time to come. I also feel that there is a chance there could be updates on the 500X that won't go to the 500 because of the different patch-file extensions. This seems to point to a future incompatibility between them (they seem to be compatible at the moment). It could be that the 500X will at some point get amps, effects or features the 500 won't get. Nobody knows the memory limit in these things. Maybe the memory of the 500 is now about filled up and can't get many more amps and effects. It could be that they also extend the memory of the 500X in order to be able to give us more HD amps. Anyways these are just my speculations, nothing I got from the rumor mill.

I tried with the HD500. I couldn't get the reverb in, which uses quite a lot op DSP. So, it seems the HD500X does indeed have more headroom in that department. Where did you see those reports? I just bought my HD500 three weeks ago so I went back to the shop and told them L6 just introduced an upgraded version. I'm getting my money back and will buy the HD500X. Are the switches really better as far as you can see?

Listen to TheRealZap, he knows what he's talking about. All the parameters you ask for are directly controllable by the HD500. Why would you want to controle them without using the pre-amp model? The Dt-25 uses the same model anyway.

If you are using Windows 7 or 8 try to disable the USB selective suspend setting in the advance power settings. I had blue screens all the time untill I changed this setting. I think it has something to do with this option disrupting the USB connection which results in BSOD if the POD is connected.
