  1. Very nice! What did you use on the JC120 lead?
  2. No it's not. The modelling will sound exactly the same though.
  3. No, it's a 69 body so it's definitely not a 89 neck. Wouldn't fit. You're probably correct that it's a custom neck though, it doesn't look like a stock 69 neck.
  4. It seems to be a 69 body and neck with a 89F double locking Floyd Rose tremelo system. She's also using some non standard pickups. Great looking guitar! Nice to see some well known top player using a Variax. Of course, Adrian Belew has been using the Variax electronics in his Parker guitar for a long time.
  5. Actually I find the 89F the best Variax because of it's versatility. Modelling a strat on the 59for instance is a bit off because the 59 doesn't have a tremolo. The 69 does have a tremolo but then you can't really do all the divebombing and such expecting it to stay tuned. To my eyes the 59 is the most beautiful but I waited for the 89F to jump on. I feel that if you want a modelling guitar to model as many guitars as possible it must have a fully capable tremolo. Just my way of looking at it.
  6. I never complain about updates. I think every update is bonus after buying a great product. They actually keep making it better, without it costing anything. But, I was a bit disappointed to hear the Global EQ doesn't work over the Line 6 Link. It's probably some technical thing they couldn't do anything about so I won't drag them through the mud for it (not my style anyway). It's just very unfortunate that this great feature won't work for the Flag Ship Dream Rig. Oh well. I'll just have to do without like I've done for years or get an external EQ and put it in the effects loop of the DT amp. Still a happy camper :D
  7. Then backup the backed up back up occasionally
  8. What do you know about Tung Sol, do they have any negative tendency?
  9. Just curious, but how do you play the guitar without touching the strings with your bare hands? ;) On another note, I made a jack plug with one wire connected to the ground pin in a grounded plug that I can plug into the wall for the rare occasion where I have an annoying ground loop. It seems strange plugging the jack into a 220 Volt outlet, but if you do it right it's actually very safe.
  10. I melted a EH with the BIAS on 25mv so what can I say?
  11. Asked Tung Sol if there is a difference in quality between EH and TS, this is what I got back: Both EL84 type are very close in quality, but the Tung-Sol EL84/6BQ5 goes through a tighter selection process. Now isn't that interesting? Of course I hve no idea how close they are to Bogner's magical specs
  12. I just got an answer from Tung Sol: The EHX and Tung-Sol trademarks are both owned by New Sensor Corporation. There are differences between the EHX and Tung-Sol tubes. Most of it has to do with the internal geometry and actual construction of the tube. Most of the Tung-Sol tubes are built to replicate the sound of the original Tung-Sol tubes.
  13. Interesting. i have no idea. The tubes themselves don't look exactly the same but they could well be from the same plant. I actually just mailed the question to Tung Sol. I'll keep you posted B)
  14. I play about 4 hours per week at high volume and sometimes a couple of hours at low volume (not low volume mode, I just turn the master on the DT-25 and POD down and it sound pretty darn good that way). First the stock lasted about 6 months. Then I only used the JJ's for a month or two and put them back in my Peavey Classic 50/50 power amp. I then put in EH's that lasted only 4 months before one melted (see picture). These I replaced with the Tung Sol which are still going good after more than 12 months. I always adjust the DC bias as close to 25 as I can, So up to now my experience hasn't been too good on EH\s lifespan. I can't say much about JJ except that I found them not sounding as good as the EH's (hence the return to EH). To me the Tung Sol's sound at least as good as the EH's, maybe better and they seem to last. I bought 4 of them at the time so the next batch will also be Tung Sol :) .
  15. I have put in Tung Sol myself without any problems. Thw EH's I put in before actually melted (literally). Well, one of them. I have also tried a couple of JJ's. Didn't have issues but didn't use them very long. I took them from my Peavey 50/50 and used them until I got some new ones. The stock tubes were finished after about half a year of playing.
  16. That's interesting. Can you show us exactly how you will do this and what bias pot you will be using? I might consider doing this mod on my DT25
  17. I presume you mean ehx el84? Otherwise the lollopop is on you ;)
  18. I tried JJ's for a while. They sounded pretty good but went back to EH which sounded great but didn't last very long. One actually melted! Last year I put Tung Sol in my DT25 and I have to say I really love them and I think I will stick to them. Nice, warm and clear sound with great distortion.
  19. This is true when using the DT in combination with the POD. When using the DT on it's own however ther would need to be an update in order to get the new amps on the DT. At least, that's how I understand it to be.
  20. I beleive Line6 stated that it isn't as easy as many seem to think, not impossible. Sure, in the edit software it shouldn't be very difficult but in the firmware it's probably a different story. I guess Line6 wants to do it right or not at all, right being in the firmware.
  21. That would be nice! Post that idea at ideascale and promote to vote fore it here!
  22. Will the Firehawk have the HD pre amps? If so you could plug it into the effects loop in on a DT amp, using the pre amp from the FH. I also wonder how th FH will sound just plugged into the front of a DT. Any thought on these questions?
