Question about VDI + 1/4 inch out
talwilkins replied to CipherHost's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
In the variax manual it says to use a standard guitar cable. What will using a TRS cable (isn't that also used for stereo?) do to make it safe to use together with VDI? It's probably my poor knowledge of these things, but I don't get it. -
Yeah, it should be solvable. I will try something when I have the time.

It's fine quality and fits like a glove. Only thing I found is that because of the foam undrneath the Helix it's a bit harder to push the toe switch of the expression pedal.

A final cure for my jtv
talwilkins replied to Zeller's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Great fix, thanks! I don't have a problem yet with my 89F but will seriously consider this aproach to avoid any in the future. Or is this problem not existing on a 89F? It hink they have Graphtek piezo's similar to the Ghost Bridge, don't they? -
The advances in thechnology doesn't alter what is morally acceptable at all. the only thing that changes is the risk of being caught and that might be more aceptable to many people. It doesn't make it right though. If you find in morally unacceptable to steal music, then it's just as wrong to steal a record from the store as to download the mussic ilegally. It's the fact that a smaller chance of getting caught makes it easier to do it and people will steal even though they know it's wrong. Making it easy to steal doesn;t suddenly make it ok. Don't get me wrong, I'm guilty myself but I have to admit it never really felt totally allright to download music and this thing has got me thinking. It's a little late but there you go, I'm a f##ked up human being, like most. I'm just a little less f##ked up than the ones who actually beleive it's ok to steal if there's little to no chance of getting caught. I think I might have to change my ways to be able to look at myself in the mirror.

No one is questioning the law here. Yes, it's good the consumer gets protected. The point here is that people who actually do like and want the amp abuse the law by buying it with no intention of keeping it but to make a profile so they can have the amp tone anyway. that seems kind of wrong. It's a bit like killing a guy by accident in a self defense situation or premeditated murder, quite different things. With the first you can actually walk free, while the second will get you the electric chair in some states.

Post the link please!

That's turning it around isn't it? The amp companies are not going to survive because the modelers need something to model. That would mean the modeling companies need to keep them alive and that's not what they are doing of course. Of course there will allways be some really old amp to model, that's not the point. It's about these companies turning out new amps. Don''t get me wrong I have played modelers for many years from Zoom, Boss and Line6 and use a Helix now and really love it. But you have to admit the guy makes some valid points about the ethics. Something to think about.

Put it up on ideascale!

DT25 works fine for me! Love the way it sounds. Deactivated the on board modeling and speaker/mic sims for use with Helix though.

Really? You must admit that the reason for having a global eq absolutely fits the use of Line6 Link. It was the same on the HD500. It felt a bit like being cheated to me. I use the high tech more convenient and versatile Line6 Link to connect to the DT (Dream Rig). Then a great new feature get added, the global eq, but I can't use it. Oh well, I'm really not the type to complain. I'm happy with what I have and every improvement is bonus! I just live with the shortcomings if any. I was curious for an explanation though. I expected something technical.

I get it for USB but why isn't there any global EQ for Line6 Link? That's used to connect to an amp in live situations so there it would be very useful

What about those flightcases like the first post mentioned? I have that exact one. Do I need to worry?

Overdrive/distortion tones not sounding good at all
talwilkins replied to m6stringtosh's topic in Helix
You can also set the low cut and hugh cut on the cab sim, that's what I do. I connect via L6-Link to my DT25 -
Helix > DT Amps- Are you using Preamp, Amp, or Amp +Cab models?
talwilkins replied to gtrman100's topic in Helix
I'm not really sure, to be honest. I have tried the DT without cab sims a couple of times with the HD500(X) and dind't really like it I really think it needs a cab sim but again, whatever gets you hot is good! I guess I will experiment using the DT without a cab sim sometime again, just to be sure! -
With all due respect, it's no use complaining about missing effects if you don't update to the latest firmware or at least read up on what's added. Reverse delay is in there.

Helix > DT Amps- Are you using Preamp, Amp, or Amp +Cab models?
talwilkins replied to gtrman100's topic in Helix
I'm also using full amps through L6-Link. Only I disabled the Cab on the Dt and use the Helix cabs. I can't say I really compared them intensively but the Helix Cabs should be better. A lot of people were compaining about the HD cabs and I do believe they had a point. The cab is a BIG part of any tone so I go for the Helix cabs Not using any cab is also an option, since the Dt already has a real cab but I believe the DT cab/speaker is designed to be used with cab sims. I mean if you get the sound you want without any, then that's great but using cab sims does give you more options to build your tone, especially if you're after a specific sound that uses a specific amp-cab combunation. -
It does seem to say so. I checked to find out if it could load 3rd party IR's and it does. If it didn't it wouldn't be a problem. I wonder how they handle this. Maybe it only works with their own IR's ? Nice piece of gear though! Seems really good.

I totally agree. I connect via L6 Link to my DT25 and would like to have global EQ

This casi is perfect. Fits like a glove, built like a tank. I think It took about 7-9 days to arrive if I remember correctly. Worth the wait!

Using only piezo without modelling?
talwilkins replied to Dshow's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Interesting, keep us posted! I would very much like to learn what you did. -
Very Nice!

I prefer to use no cab on the DT because it's an HD cab and I presume the Helix cabs are better. I use a full amp+cab and it sounds fantastic!
