Every now and then when I power on the Helix, the output volume is much lower than usual, maybe -30 dB instead of -15 dB. I use the SPDIF output which is connected to a RME fireface 800 audio interface. A restart of the Helix solves the problem, but most of the time first I suspect the drummer and the singer to be too loud... ;-) Does anyone know this bug, too?

Sending Midi program change, bank select and CC69 (snapshot) from Bitwig to Helix often kills the Helix. the display of the helix gets empty/black, and there is no sound any more. Frightening. this didn't happen before, I wonder if it is related to a bitwig or helix update. Using Bitwig 2.3.2, Helix Firmware 2.50.0 and Windows 10.

MOD: Input / Output Marks on the rear panel (Rear I/O Panel)
p8guitar replied to Chris_Zahn's topic in Helix
I don't understand why Line6 didn't put extra labelling there where you can read it without lying on the floor. The pod HD500 has this extra labelling. But maybe the thought it doesn't look nice... -
thanks for the hint, right-click works for me. You must scroll down, then you see the snapshots. At least at my PC, it may be a graphic card problem or something when you don't see it?
-
It was possible to choose for example the Variax model with a snapshot. With Helix 2.30 I cannot do this anymore - or am I missing something? The "edit" tab shows all the Variax parameters, but when I switch to the "bypass/controller assign" tab, only the input parameters can be assigned to a snapshot. ?!?

But it doesn't work with the helix native plug-in. line 6, please change that...

I have a sound where the expression pedal controls the amount of delay mix and feedback. I want to record the dry signal and the expression pedal movements in my DAW to be able to fine-tune the movements later (using Helix native plug-in for the guitar sound). How do I record the pedal movement, so that it can be understood by the Helix native plug-in?

Thank you very much! @ Line6: It would be nice if all global settings could be found in one place, not hidden somewhere else.

With firmware 2.21, the variax custom tuning doesn't get stored with the preset any more but is applied globally. Did I miss to adjust something in the preferences after the update, or is this a bug? I had some presets with different custom tunings. This worked flawlessly in the past, but now I see (and hear) the same tuning in all presets. For example I change a tuning in preset no. 10 to dropped d and save the preset. Now all presets show the dropped d tuning. ?!?

I set the cab parameters mic and level to be snapshot controlled. 1. This does not work, you cannot create snapshots with different mics. 2. It crashes helix editor! I could not open the Editor any more when this preset was active.
-
Thank you for pointing me at the presets... I was wondering why Helix Editor crashes, and it was related to a preset were I set the cab parameters (mic and level) to be snapshot controlled. 1. This does not work, you cannot create snapshots with different mics. 2. It crashes helix editor!

How do I choose if the tempo of a preset is controlled by midi clock or if the tempo of this preset is fixed? I don't want to set this globally but per preset.
-
I'm installing Helix Editor on a Windows 10 machine. the installler suggests to put it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Line6. Is this correct, is it a 32 bit application?

When I choose "multi" as input, then both inputs, the VDI and the guitar input will be heard. This does not make sense when I use a pedal before the Helix. But how can I force the Variax model or the tuning when using only the guitar input? This was very easily possible with the HD500, but it is notpossible with the Helix. :(
-
?!? The S/PDIF output of my Helix is about 12 dB lower than the 1/4" outputs, and I'd like to raise the volume. Is this possible? The S/PDIF output of the Helix seems to be much lower than HD500 or X3Live S/PDIF outputs.
-
Yes, the VDI input is really great, because you can sit in front of your computer without causing noise by electrical interference. But don't you get the noise back when you activate the fx loop? I'll have to do some testing. The advantage of placing the pedals before the helix is that you can easily audition all presets with you pedals without the need to insert an effects loop into every preset.
-
Is there a good reason for this, or did they just forget to implement it? What do you do when you have all your presets programmed with VDI input, and you forget to bring your VDI cable to the gig? Then you will have to change all your presets, one by one.
-
I have connected a Variax, but I don't want to use the Variax input but the guitar input, because I have some pedals connected before the Helix. How do I set the input globally to "guitar"? This was very easy with the HD500, but I can't figure it out with the Helix.

I noticed that I like the sound of the magnetic PUs of my JTV89 better than the models (firmware 1.82). The models sound a bit dull, I like the shimmering high frequencies of the real pickups better. When I change the resistance of the volume knob of the models from 250 kOhm to 1 MOhm, the models are getting brighter and are more similiar to the magnetic PUs. Are there other means to make the sound of the models brighter?
