  1. Seems like using a POD is slower than using the dongle in my experience. I like the 59 as well, but personally I want a 69 over that. I want my dream guitar to have a trem system and I want the 5 way switch, which is quicker than messing with both a push and pull and a 3 way switch. Playing guitar live requires these actions to be done quickly between playing.
  2. Sounds to me like you have sympathetic string ringing if anything. Do the strings behind the nut ring?
  3. I'll always say this: I really do think COSM is extremely outdated and that BOSS needs to drop that style of modeling and adapt to better technology. It's showing more and more as the years pass.
  4. That's a waste, but it's what I did regardless. I wanted to use FS1-8 instead of ABCD mode.
  5. It's mostly pronounce in Lester and the single coil models. I must have just gotten use to using my "SG" patch which eliminates the plonky noises. I knew it had something to do with overloading the piezos. Line 6 might be right about the E string being dense and overloading the E piezo, but that's why they should of went with Graphtech, or at least designed the piezos more carefully. A less sensitive E string piezo could probably fix it. It's obvious that LR bagg's piezos are a bit inconsistent which is why people get this problem sometimes, some more pronounced than others.
  6. Well, you complained about plonking noises when picking. That mostly happens on the low E on the Lester model in most people's cases.
  7. That sounds godly. I assume it's the HD firmware based on the tonality. Does the E plonking go away on the Lester Model as well? No more weird noises when hitting the strings hard? Honestly, Line 6 are out of their minds for not choosing Graphtech for their piezos I'm sure the whole "LR-Baggs designing piezos to fight against piezo artifacts" thing was bunk and that Line 6 did the work.
  8. With the new Yamaha guitars coming you, you guys now have a cheaper alternative to degut if you want a HD Variax system.
  9. The easiest way to hear the problem is to use a tube screamer as a boost into a high gain amp. treble set a little high. Yes, gain will maximize what you hear, but the problem is that it shouldn't be there in the first place. Every single string besides the 6th string sound nice and warm, and fine. The sixth string has the plinky attack. I don't see how Line 6 technicians can't hear that out. I've heard Variaxes that don't have this issue, so obviously it is a problem,
  10. Did it get rid of the low e plink completely? I swear it has to be the low e overloading the piezo. I'm pretty sure if they had different sensitivity piezos it wouldn't be a problem, or how about, I don't know, use strictly Graphtechs? LR baggs aren't bad for acoustics but it's obviously a hit or miss with Variaxes. Got any sound demos?
  11. shaving the rubber stopper voided a warranty?
  12. Shaving the rubber stopper would be a petty thing to void a warranty over, but that's Line 6's call. You could say it was from using the pedal a lot. It's up to the OP. If you don't want to risk it, don't do it, but the key thing is: is it registering your foot presses at all, or is it just hard for it to register? If it's hard to register, then shaving the rubber WILL fix the problem. Either put up with it being hard to press and adjust how you press the expression pedal (put your body weight into it when you press it) or remove some of the surface of the rubber stopper to your liking.
  13. Awesome, I love Thrice, I guess a lot of people on here aren't into the whole post-hardcore heavy rock mixture though. He's the one who actually educated me about the Variax, and I instantly fell in love with it and rekindled my interest in Line 6. After I realized how nice the new Line 6 products were I was hooked. Sadly though, he has sold his black Tele Variax a few years ago during the Thrice hiatus (which is hinted directly by the band to be over this year!). I believe he wanted to simplify his guitar a bit so he settled for some humbucker P90 style pickups with splitting pickups. I believe he had another Variax guitar, but I don't know what happened to that. Whoever won his Variax on Ebay is a lucky sucker.
  14. I say give it a few tries, but honestly if they're shipping out defective units then sometimes you can't rely on something like that so I know what you mean.
  15. No offense but shouldn't they be quality controlling this type of stuff?
  16. 300 and 400 are as far as they'll ever go. They were cheaper entries to the HD series.
  17. mid focus EQ is basically an Low cut and High cut filter. I imagine global EQ is more for shaping the final tone to suite whatever it's going out to.
  18. Some of them are nice some of them are awful. Let me use a custom image.
  19. There's no way it's not impossible to change it to Hertz and DB. That has to be an excuse.
  20. It's to change the impedance to the appropriate intake. It not only changes the level but also helps not fry anything.
  21. This issue shouldn't need adjusting of the presets in Workbench. String volume sure, but editing pickups? There's a difference between not sounding like what they're modeled after (debatable) and not sounding like it was intended to (something is wrong)
  22. Also, to be honest, this is probably why I'm never getting a used JTV. If I get this problem when I get one I'm sending it back until I get a proper one.
