I thought it was determined by the state of effects when you assign the foot switch?

Patch changes are glitchy (noisy click/pop occasionaly/takes a second to switch) with the app running, but I'm guessing thats not an issue you want to use it that way anyways.

Possible To Get Controlled Feedback With Hd500x?
gunpointmetal replied to justcrash's topic in POD HD
I don't seem to have an issue with it. But when I want it I turn off all my gates and usually have the master cranked on the patches to simulate hot tubes! -
Yeah, I looked at the patches in Edit....I barely use any bass at all in my "loud" live tones to keep from getting lost in the mix. I'd say on an average "heavy" patch (think metal rhythm/semi-djenty) for my eight string with the Mesa Model I probably have the bass at 30-40, mids at 60-75, treble 60-70, and then presence is kind of wherever you want to hear the sizzle. I'm not a scientist, but I do know the Fletcher-Munson effect works ten-fold (to my ears) on heavy distortion. Try, if you can, to set up your patches at the volume you will be playing through relatively similar equipment to get a good idea of how things will sound. I'm guessing that even though you have a practice PA, its nowhere near as loud as the one at your gig, and any/all difference in mixers/amplifiers/speakers is going to change your sound somewhat...kind of a myth that PAs are truly flat response. I've had success with live patches actually zeroing my amp's EQ then setting the mids where I like them, followed by bass/treble/presence to "support" the mid-tone.

Where Is The Official "non-user" Forum?
gunpointmetal replied to gunpointmetal's topic in Line 6 Lounge
So, officially, Experts are the forum moderators, and that comes from Line 6. So, previously when asked about it, they've been dishonest. I seem to remember another thread where an expert flat-out said they have nothing to do with forum moderation. From now on if we have questions about technical data, don't even bother here. Make a support ticket and post the results. -

I can't say too many of the experts have been really "negative", but certainly condescending at times and full of automatic responses in threads where they are basically providing an opinion, which is usually along the lines of "If it wasn't like that when you bought it, why should it be now?" or just straight up fanboyism (not all experts! don't get your panties in a bunch) where anyone who thinks anything bad about the product must not be able to use it, or doesn't understand some part of the technology. Which sometimes is the case, no lie, but a lot of times it comes off as more of a "Chill out, don't worry about it, keep your voice down and don't attract any attention. You're just kinda slow with the technology, but don't make it anyone else's problem, and certainly don't look to the hardware for issues." go vote, as if it matters http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Technical-Questions-Forum/593725-23508?submitted=1 -
Heavy Sounds Disappear Live!
gunpointmetal replied to greigmcmillan's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
You're sound guy is either an idiot, or he comes from the school of "Everybody only wants to hear vocals and drums" which, surprisingly still runs rampant. Get a long lollipop cable and go out front without your IEM when you're sound-checking. If it doesn't sound right, tell the sound guy. If he gives you lollipop tell him its his lollipop ing job to make you sound how you want to sound, not mix every band the same. I've had sound guys who literally have no idea what to do with use when I tell them we don't have a vocalist...its like they have everything pre-EQed on the board around vocals and they just go blank. -

Well, you're either a liar or the site is run by bots who delete any complained-on post. I really do not believe that a company that can't even get a tech on their support forums to answer questions is gonna review and delete "offending" posts immediately, on a weekend, in the late afternoon.......yeah right... and, if thats a priority- Company's Head is WAAAAAY Up It's Own lollipop. -

So are you a moderator? I was under the impression "experts" aren't running the forums... -

So, I log on and see I have a PM in regards to this thread, as well as a quoted post from this thread....... where are they now? I can only assume a moderator is blocking or deleting posts. Not cool. -
there will be no reply from Line 6.

There's another thread around here that explains basically, that the L/R aren't really left and right, but two stereo signals you can balance however you like (may not be 100% accurate!) and so putting both of them at center gives you a boost of somewhere around 6dB (may not be accurate!) in volume over "stock" patches with everything panned all the way out.

You'd think so, but then who would think to put EQs in % in the first place? -
The cabs are useable, and compared to previous generations, much better. I used nothing but them on the last recording I did (mostly to save processing power on an aging PC). But compared to most of free IRs out there, they are pretty sub-standard (as are those in Boss and Zoom). In my experience, I can get a useable tone with an amp model with everything at noon and a decent cab IR. I haven't been able to do that with the ones in the box.

I just want to make sure they're aware that it was dumb before they do the same stupid crap in the next gen -

gunpointmetal replied to gipser's topic in AMPLIFi
I don't have a problem implementing the EQ's, it just doesn't make a single lick of sense and the lack of communication on the issue leads me to believe either A) The company doesn't give a lollipop if A TON OF USERS have asked for something in regards to it or B) They have no idea why its that way, and don't care. Either way. its sh!tty customer support. I'm not trying to pick a fight with anyone here, dude. I'm referring to a company and a product, that is all. -

Because they totally don't work for the same company and have no way of communicating with each other. It's no more than laziness and general lack of concern. -

gunpointmetal replied to gipser's topic in AMPLIFi
Line 6 has no interest in broad-scope customer interaction except for IdeaScale, which is mostly a placeholder to keep the "WTLollipop?!?! Line 6" threads to a minimum....they don't even respond to general inquiries via support ticket...try asking them why the EQs on the HD series are still the way they are, or if using the effects loop is actually noisier than running the chain A & B in parallel on the HD series, as proposed by some users in that forum. -
I mean, disabling the cabs in the POD your probably also loosing a high-pass EQ, and whatever exactly the "Thump" and other paramters are doing, but I see those DEPs as add-ins to compensate for the overall lollipoptiness of the included cab models.
-
I wouldn't pay for them in an upgrade to the HD500 I have now, thats for sure, as I can already use them for recording and currently I use a regular cab live, so I have no need. I would more than a little disappointed if the next gen DIDN'T have at least some great stock IR cabs, if not user-loadable cabs.
