As a side note to TheRealZap, make sure that your sample rate on the POD HD Pro matches whatever rate is occurring in your session. This can be accessed from page 5/10 in the System I/O settings. To add to Phil's comment you are correct, either way can be achievable. Remember Virtual Capo will overwrite any existing preset that you currently have loaded on your JTV, so be mindful of which tuning you want to overwrite. Workbench is a great way to do it, that way you can customize multiple alternate tunings then swap them in and out as needed. Yes is does work doubly as a direct our for recording or live use. Keep in mind it will only carry over your guitar signal, any audio coming from the bluetooth streaming will not be included in the signal. One thing I would do with your JTV is make sure that it is updated to the latest 2.0 release. This can be done simply by connecting your guitar to the included USB interface and then opening the Line 6 Monkey updater program (link below). This is a pretty significant update and really adds a lot of depth and detail to the models. While updating I would also download the Workbench HD editor, from here you can make all of the custom tunings/guitars you would like. I would also recommend checking out our JTV page on the Line 6 site. There are some great resources on here including manuals, video tutorials and insight on products that work directly with JTV including POD HD, Stagesource Speakers and DT. Hope this helps, please follow me on twitter to see all of the latest events and news surrounding me and Line 6. @Line6jbutter http://line6.com/jtv-69/ http://line6.com/software/?submit=Show&name=Line+6+Monkey http://line6.com/news/general/1433

Currently the only looper available on Amplifi is within the music library. It has no effect on the guitar signal itself but loops any song that you are currently playing. @line6jbutter

You can connect a Bass guitar to Amplifi, however there are currently no Bass models available. Try using the Tube Preamp or Sparkle clean models from the Clean Amp category. I would also add compression and reconfigure the eq settings to match what you want from your bass. Just demoed this for an end user a couple weeks back with great results. @line6jbutter

Placing the Volume pedal before the amp will give you a more "guitar volume roll back" effect. Placing the Volume pedal after the amp will have a more gradual swell, almost like turning up your master volume (more traditional for volume swells and reverb/delay tail effects). Of course this is a little tricky to manipulate from the app, I would recommend looking into an FBV Express MKii for pedal use. http://line6.com/footcontrollers/fbvexpressmkii.html @line6jbutter

As a side note to this thread I would also check out the DT 2.0 update. This will allow you to swap out the preamp models and reverb types on each channel independantly if you you are using the amp stand alone via idevice and TouchOSC app. Link below http://line6.com/dtv2update/ @line6jbutter

You are correct, given the interface and software you have PT will not recognize as an audio interface. I would send the pair of XLR outputs or 1/4" unbalanced outputs from the 500x to an open pair of inputs on your recording interface. The Mobile pre should have a Direct monitoring button on the interface, I would recommend using that when you are tracking to PT. Just make sure your tracks in PT are mute and you are listening from the inputs at the interface, that way there is no significant input latency. @Line6jbutter

Editing In Hd Edit - Going Back To Original Patch
joebutterfield replied to StephenSLR's topic in POD HD
Another work around would be to "Save As" any patch you would like to refer back to or back up from via the software editor on your computer. This way your presets will always be backed up in another location, plus you can refer to different modifications of a preset. -
Braekyn, I would recommend looking into one of our StageSource speakers. Using the L6 link connection out of the POD HD to the StageSource will solve this issue you tend to be running into. With this connection you will achieve a full range flat response from the speaker, therefore keeping your tone in the studio and the stage consistent without having to constantly tweak presets. With each preset the POD remembers the speakers output mode and considering that it is full range it can support a multitude of different instruments (acoustic guitars, mandolins, dobros etc..) without going through a mid range focused guitar amp. @line6jbutter

Is Vdi An All-digital Signal?
joebutterfield replied to clay-man's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Uber Guru you are correct. The signal is digital and remains digital until it is routed through a analog output. -
Blh18, Select the preset you would like to move, option click while moving and you will see a green + icon. From there you can move wherever you would like. @line6jbutter

Roman4ez, There should be no issue with this. Just be mindful of the level that is being sent from the acoustic guitar, sometimes the output can be a little hotter than traditional passive pickups. @line6jbutter

Smgrimes, The master volume is always tethered to the outputs of the HD500X, really no way around what you are looking for. When building presets I would recommend turning your master up fairly high and balancing your clean tones against the high gain tones and making sure there are no significant jumps from preset to preset; that way your presets have enough head room for loud scenarios and can accommodate all the quiet ones as well. Fortunately the master volume is a hardware control, you just have to be mindful of where it is set once you shift from application to application. If you have any suggestions for future product hardware/software features, I recommend going to our ideascale page and posting your thoughts. http://line6.ideascale.com Joe @line6jbutter

Jmillion, There currently is no features on the POD HD series that allows you to momentarly hold effects the way you want. One suggestion that could help what you are trying to achieve is assigning effects parameters to the expression pedals, that way you could control multiple functionalitys from different effects at once. @line6jbutter

When running the XLR outputs the only switches that are dedicated to that function is the ground lift functionality, XLR will always send a balanced tone. Ideally use this for connecting to a mixer, power amp or into a recording interface. Unbalanced functionality is dedicated to the 1/4" outputs. Use the "Line" setting for mixer, power amp or into a recording interface. Use "Amp" setting is you are connecting the HD to the input of a guitar amplifier or any source that wants a low level signal. For your application with power amp and cab I would make sure that within your System I/O settings you choose "Stack Power Amp". Make sure that you are using the preamp models within your preset, that way no cab or mic modeling is in the signal chain. Hope this helps @line6jbutter

LAEDGE, Does the noise occur from preset to preset? I would try plugging it in something with proper grounding i.e. a decent power strip or even better a Power Conditioner. Also, are you currently using a Noise Gate? If not I would consider placing one at either the end of your pre-effects or the beginning of your post-effects? I am not sure how new you are to this kind of setup but a noise gate is an essential part of most metal guitarists rig and sounds like the issue you are having is the same one most metal guitarist run into. It will definitely clean up the noise between playing, especially if you are using active pickups with a lot of gain. im thinking it is the later of the two.

Quick Way To Go Between Foh And In Front Of An Amp?
joebutterfield replied to corywong's topic in POD HD
Here is what you will need to do... 1. Hold down the view icon to access System & I/O 2. With the arrow button, scroll right over to page 4 so you can access the output configuration. 3. On this page you can configure how you want the output signal to react. 4. Depending on how you want to interface the amp with the HD500X, refer to the advanced guide page 2.8 for the right mode considering your application. Keep in mind this is a global setting, which will effect all of your presets. So I would recommend is saving all of your existing presets to a separate set list, so you have one set list optimized for Studio/Direct outputs and the other designated to connecting via your amp. Keep in mind you may have to tweak your presets when playing through your amp, but the beauty of this is when deciding either the amp or the PA all you will have to do is switch the setlist and select what output type you need to use. Hope this helps.
