  1. Perhaps this is an opportunity for a Crowd Sourced Answer. I doubt the original models (those which were used to create the FX, Amp, and Cab models) are going to be too thrilled with Line 6 copying or linking their manuals. So, for instance, IF the Helix had an MXR Distortion + model, one would post a link to a pinned topic: http://www.jimdunlop.com/files/manuals/M104_man_WEB.pdf
  2. I was able to find an open box one at Bananas At Large, so all is good. I was more bummed about getting bit by the little f-er than I was about the failure of the unit. I did find the link that BillBee posted after I made my initial post, however L6 is out of stock on the one I needed. All in all it worked out. I do use the box for club gigging, and used it for a charity event last Saturday, but I am the type of guy who is very careful with his equipment.
  3. Last night I turned on my Furman and my POD HD500 didn't fire up. After going through the processes of elimination, it came down to the power supply. I inspected it closely and there were no cracks, gaps, frays, or bends in it. With it unplugged, I squeezed the unit softly and was treated to one hell of a zap-bite. I was surprised to find that L6 doesn't offer replacement power supplies for the end user. Has anybody else dealt with PS failure for no apparent reason? I was fortunate enough to find an OB replacement at Bananas at Large, but this was one hell of a party foul.
  4. I don't read in to this that it is a law; rather a business practice and possibly an E&O and liability insurance requirement. The individual employees have more than likely also signed NDA's for every aspect of the development cycle. I have plenty of limitations in my regular business, including only getting one drink ticket per person at the company holiday party. Why? Because that's what the insurance company tells us to do. Again, why? Because that's what the lawyers tell them to do. Finally, why? Because some a-holes somewhere litigated over it. L6 could disclose anything they want. They simply run the risk of being held to their word. It would also seriously lollipop off the higher ups. It would certainly be a poor business practice as it presents an expectation, but that could be disclaimered all over the place. Finally, it would cost people their jobs if actual Non-Disclosure Agreements and Confidentiality Agreements were violated.
  5. I use two amps. A Marshall 800 and a Roland Cube. I do smaller gigs, so the volume is fine, but I do like to play in stereo. I am curious if I can use the 4CM on the Marshall and the front panel on the Cube (no loop available for that) and somehow balance the signals so I don't get a high STNR out of either amp.
  6. I'm in Northern CA (Sonoma County). Thanks.
  7. DI, L6T, et al: First off, I must say I've been very impressed with your accessibility since becoming active on this board a short while back. Having a ton of friends and clients in the tech sector, I know that this is a damn difficult question to answer with any accuracy, but I'm going to throw it out there anyway: The Market Demand is apparently there in spades. Do you have a realistic estimate on when new units will ship to end-users who are not on back order? Thank you much.
  8. In anticipation of getting my Helix, I've been searching for a good IR site (particularly interested in getting a Diezel). Aside from Rosen Digital, anybody have a good IR source?
  9. No you wouldn't, because you stated that you cancelled your order even with a (completely fabricated) 12% discount and obnoxiously declared ad nauseum you were absolutely not getting one. Try to think your trolls through.
  10. After 37 years, over a dozen bands, endless 'hired gun' sessions and tours, etc., I know exactly how my ears work; For lollipop. I would be very happy if Line 6 came out with a tinnitus filter. Hard wired. To my brain.
  11. Actually I missed the EQ comment. I was surprised at the sound, but tweaking EQ is the number one, hands down, biggest mistake a lot of people make and it completely disqualifies the sound clips imo. The reason I say I was surprised is because the USB sounds (without any post-production) on the demo vids make the Helix the hands-down winner to my ears. Thanks for providing that qualification and I will mia-culpa by reading the fine print on any future comparisons. And "lolipopping' around with reverb is the second biggest mistake. And why the hell is my spell checker suggesting re-verb for reverb? Back to work.
  12. Considering all of the tips and valleys we've been hearing about, I'm cool with not getting a unit until the kinks are worked out.
  13. True that. Both my machines were on 7.(whatever) and were the pro versions. Laptop switched to 10 at launch and, while definitely faster, I don't think the third party developers took it too seriously. The Desktop (DAW) remains on 7-n until I am positive...POSITIVE...that it won't f up my access.
  14. I dunno. Some of the settings were definitely off between the two, particularly, yes, the processed ones. On most of them, and I hate to say it, but the Fractal sounded a little more warm. I would suspect that this can be easily fixed with dialing up presence, checking SAG, etc. Thanks so much for posting this.
  15. Huh. Some of those tones are really nice, but some sound way too processed. The guy with the Tele is an amazing guitarist (lollipoper), so I kind of have to discount him because he can make any system sound good.
  16. I have no doubt that you guys are going to deliver on your word. I've modded both my amps, so the amp models themselves are merely a starting point. I called my guy at Bananas at Large today (you know....the guy who was *supposed* to call me when they got the units) and he sheepishly admitted that they sold out immediately.
  17. I thought it was for the coffee. See, Line 6 is so inferior that they only offer coffee and he's worn out his welcome on the Kemper and Axe pages by taking too many trips to the Pulled Unicorn BBQ table, the open bars, and pony rides through waterfalls underneath rainbows. All while seamlessly dialing through 200 and whatever amp models and making each one sound like awesome-covered awesome with trails, mean Jimi runs, and Stevie Ray presence. With playmates dripping off every limb. Blindfolded.
  18. I bought an EX 1 recently for my POD and am curious if it will work with the Helix. Thanks!
  19. I would be interested in hearing a side-by-side of Kemper, Axe, and Helix. All either direct or through the same amp with the same guitar and the same musician. We all know that the individual guitarist has their own unique sound, for better or worse, due to attack, feeling, ability, etc. Though it would be via crappy computer speakers, it would be a very telling comparison. I'll find out next week if I'm able to get the Helix without breaking the GDP. Every damn day I'm spending more time on the computer drooling over the Helix, reading the various boards (fan boys are so amusingly allegiant to their respective units), and searching for an actual side-by-side. Anybody find one of these controlled comparison? Anybody willing to post one?
  20. I saw this posted somewhere else, but can't seem to find it. I've got a four year old, which basically means a lot of my discretionary play time is limited to after nigh-nigh time. I currently run tracks off my computer headphone jack straight to the HD500 CD/MP3 jack. It works great and is one of the big plusses of the HD series for me. I could always run to my mixer and headphone off of that, but that is yet more cables to put away at night. Is there a native way to run outboard tracks from a computer headphone jack straight in to the Helix for those of us who need to keep it quiet at times when we woodshed?
  21. That, or he's just a d-bag. I'm still waiting to hear his clips.
