Perhaps we need a new pinned thread labeled, "Helix Sucks!!! NO! Fractal Sucks!!! No! You suck! NO! YOU DO!"
-
The official word I just got was, "Thank you for your patience". It's a priority and I would rather have something functional than a sub-beta cluster-lollipop.

I sent my Helix down to L6 due to a second incident of Strip Wonk. I've attached an image here. Has anybody experienced this intermittent issue? They can't reproduce it, and it has only happened twice, but I don't want it to happen in a clutch situation. I boot up the unit and it goes to the last used preset. The strips are either blank or have the wrong label on them. Note that the preset still plays and the assigned foot switches still have their active/inactive color rings going on. Just the labels fading in and out on FS 9 and 10 with differing labels.

'Soon' meaning Sometime October Or November?

Help! Muddy distortion tones with any setting, custom or factory.
PiFromBRC replied to ScottTyler1982's topic in Helix
Serves me right for glossing over the fine print :( There are only so many things that can go wrong. If it's a global issue (now having read the fine print), I have to imagine it is one of the global settings. Factory Resets aren't going to help if the default preset is f'd. I seem to remember that I did have to do some global tweaking when I've done a factory reset. -

Just a thought, but do you have active pickups and perhaps need to replace the battery? -
Ordered Helix - should I sell my Pod HD Desktop and controller?
PiFromBRC replied to spiderbaby's topic in Helix
I have an open ticket on my Helix which necessitates a shipment to Calabas. I'm very glad that I held on to my HD500, though I'm going to miss the tones I've slaved over until the unit is returned. Perhaps it's time to bust out the flamenco guitar. -

I guess one of us needs to be the voice of dissent. The Helix, as powerful as it is, does have some processing issues. A stereo cali cab will eat up virtually ALL available DSP on the second channel. I've kept my HD and am going through the process of creating two similar set lists. The first is all 'onboard' except for looping (48 seconds doesn't do it for me). The second one allows me more flexibility as I use some of the HD and an old digitech for the atmosphere FX (reverb, delay, etc.) as well as EQ where needed. That one is the MIDI set list. It's a work in progress, but I'm really looking forward to exploring what it can do when finished. -
I certainly hope that isn't the entire case. For me, the ability to type in values is critical. I also hope the editor makes MIDI programming values much easier to enter. The Command Center is a great idea, but would be all the better if one were to click on one of the available icons and pick from a pull-down menu.

I deal with NDA's for a living. Breaking one is NOT illegal; it is breach of contract and opens one up to liability from termination to litigation. Nobody goes to jail for breaking an NDA unless they are under contract with a governmental entity and subject to criminal prosecution (ie treason or espionage). HOWEVER, if one is licensed by the government and said liscensee breaks a fiduciary commitment (ie insider trading, violation of code of conduct, etc) then they can face punitive damages and possible criminal prosecution.

Maybe the crack hasn't hit yet, but I can't find the 1.06.5 update anymore. It's not on the DL page. Did I miss something?

My KOSS cans need some serious TLC, so I've been running it through Sennheiser HD 280 pros. The only drawback is that they REALLY underscore the desire for FRFR speakers. IOW, it sounds pretty damn sweet.
-
I hear you. I was at Mission Engineering HQ a few weeks back and they are working on some pretty damn sexy FRFR products. The price tag is through the roof, as it is with all FRFR's. My other issue is that I run a stereo setup, so I would have to buy TWO of them. But in the meantime, I make due with stage monitors. As I'm used to them not being spot on, it's really no whoop.
-
That's why God invented stage monitors.

You're not. Having said that, back that mother up constantly and it will make your life a more pleasant experience. Oh...and May is (hopefully) a joke.

I marked this solved, but did open a ticket because the scribble strip issue still has me a little freaked out.

Cool. Group FTW! Thanks guys!
-
Ah....I stand corrected. Well...ignorant at least. I'll check it later. Thanks.

Nicely done, guys! Keep 'em coming!

Anybody notice the Timeout message at the top of that screen?

Issue: Turned on Helix and scribble strips got all wonky. 1: Strips were either blank or way out of order (eg Bank was on FS8, Tap on FS2) 2: Strips were doing the Fade In/Out of Death 3: Labels were superimposing and switching on individual strips. I did a FS9/10 reset and tried to import my slaved-upon User setlists 1: Several of my saved and imported presets were blank. 2: All of them were contiguous. I keep blank 'New Preset' patches in every set of 4 for future tweaks. 3: Reimports of custom presets were blank or several iterations earlier I figured out that I can drag new presets in to place. Hence the edit of this post. Question: 1: How can I straight up DELETE a preset off the unit so I can start from scratch? Not a happy Pi right now :(

Day 1: "This thing sucks" Day 2: "oh...never mind" Day 3: "Dude....check this out...I just totally built this from scratch"
