  1. Many firmware updates are no quality "per se", I guess. For the moment, I definitely see the necessity to (double) check things before the release (of a well done editor, for example ;) ). I like the idea, that a new update does not involve even more trouble (this already begins with drivers, updaters and so on)...
  2. Second time today: 1.Download Helix Application v1.04 2.Install all of its components (including drivers, updater and helix application) 3. Download Helix Firmware v1.06.5 4. Use the (previously installed) updater to load that .hxf file into helix Done.
  3. Right! But I always prefer to be offline when doing firmware updates. Call it a personal quirk  One reason is, that I can turn off the antivirus/firewall/security software without any risk - and firmware updates run much more fluently (this is based on experience with many kind of flashing processes).
  4. If it works for you - fantastic! But people are different. Some want less experiments and more 'instructions'. I don't want a longer manual. Maybe a more structured faq... And finally: Helix does not have any (internal) bluetooth functionality.
  5. Up to a certain degree... For example, take a look at this discussion: http://line6.com/support/topic/18839-path-ab/

You're right. I tried to call my bandmate with the helix, but I couldn't find the phone block. And I'm still searching for the SMS block, too ;) As with any hightech tool, there are different approaches. So, if somebody doesn't want 'to learn helix', then maybe others can help him (here), because they already checked that specific thing out?

Ok then - a(nother) discussion about manuals... First of all - I hate them. But sometimes you need clear (basic) information (although the unit is quite 'self-explaining'). The helix manual works for me - insofar. BUT: Sometimes 'the devil is in the details'. Sometimes people simply ask for a hint. And this is a forum, right? So users can help others! Best example: The wonderful http://helixhelp.com/pmwiki.php pages. Asking for something doesn't always mean complaining ;) (What really bothers me: Every little sh.. apparantly needs an entry in the ideascale nowadays...)

Nobody wants that kind of explanation for all procedures... But there are enough reasons to expand the L6 manual (wasn't that polite?) ;)
  10. For the moment, this is still a guessing game. I have all kind of experiences with 'virtual knobs' in DAWs or editors. This kind of 'accompanying' software needs always extensive testing and experience (by guitar players)... I assume that's the reason why it takes so long...

...sometimes step-by-step instructions are preferable... Maybe someone does a tutorial (video) for this?
  12. ...let's wait and see. The pic above is an early shot (NAMM, I guess). My personal opinion: I'm not so much interested in 'nice looking pedal pictures' - I want an editor, that makes it easier to edit ;)
  13. Yeah, Glenn DeLaune creates very practical and good sounding presets, I think. I wouldn't call the (organ) patch 'complicated' - he used the possibilities of the helix quite smart and clearly. But the helix is not a 'preset slingshot' in the first place; you can you use it much more individually and creatively ;)
  14. BTW, http://line6.com/support/forum-86/announcement-84-warning-about-downloaded-tones-patches-and-presets/
  15. Again: You're talking about Helix RACK... Anyway, it's always better to check before you plug ;-)
  16. ??? it doesn't like you ???You're kidding, huh?
  17. ...hate quoting myself, but: "But there's still a lot to do for the L6 crew..."
  18. Ok. If you want to be (more) sure, then check out the db or spl values of an amp. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phon
  19. You have to register for the ideascale. This is a special account.
  20. Never had any problem with that. If you plug in, sometimes you need to 'recall' the patch you use.
  21. Sometimes I take a Laptop on a gig, indeed - and would like to use the stand for it - which is occupied by the helix! Already caught myself using a hand (!) for the EXP pedal (stupid, I guess). This is a pedalboard (!!) and I want to use it that way ;) I hope that saving, labeling, arranging and organizing becomes easier with the new editor. I know l6 since pod 1.0 - helix will be really a great tool. But there's still a lot to do for the L6 crew...
  22. Vote and hope ;) : http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/JTV-Variax-Workbench-HD-using-Helix-VDI-as-interface/789597-23508
