  1. Yes you can use them, either just drag & drop the 500 patches in HD500X edit and you are fine or, as an alternative, there is a patch conversion program. See the pinned message at the top of this forum
  2. There is no 'pre' version, because this in not e newly modelled amp. This model is one of the amps that was migrated from the previous POD series. Other migrated amps (without the pre version) are Octane, Insane, Big Bottom, Variac'ed Plexi, Purge, Agsro, Smash and Acoustic.
  3. Without an audio example it is difficult to give some advice. Don't know if this will help you, but I have an Ibanez AS93 and I am happy with the lead tones I have made. I took a look at some of the patches I made for this guitar and I noticed that with the treadplate I have 'presence' at 0%, 'treble' <20%, 'bass' <20% and 'drive'at 50%. I use the red comp to add some additional sustain. Another patch with the Soldano Overdrive has similar settings. Furthermore: On the Ibanez AS93 (Super 58 pickups) both tone controls at 5, volume controls at 10. The strings I use are Elixir Nanoweb Superlight .009 - .042 Hope this helps.
  4. Ok, I tried to load the patches in HD edit. Both patches seem to work as one would expect, however there is an extreme difference in volume between the two paths on the ‘enter sandman’ patch, the treadplate volume is much loader than the blackface path and I had to raise the blackface channel volume from the initial 51% to over 80% to actually hear the amp properly. As for the ‘pull me under’ patch, no problems at all. Now I could only load these patched in HD edit but I cannot save them on the POD itself as then I get a DSP limit reached error ( I don’t have the ‘X’ version). So I made a similar patch to see if keeps working when I send it to my POD and it does. Given the fact that, apart from the channel volume issue, both patches work over here. I also checked the mixer settings. In the mixer both paths are centred and both volumes are at 0dB so that is OK. So, It must be something else. The only things that come to my mind now are physical issues such as faulty a cable or volume pedal accidently in the wrong position. Sorry I could not be of more help at this time.
  5. I don't know what patch (from custom tone) you use, so all I can doe is clarify some possible issues with this patch: BYPvol stands for bypass volume, when an amp is switched off, you can decide how much clean signal is stll passed through the path, at zero it will be silent It seems the patch you are talking about has the bypass volume set to zero Now, path B will only get a signal if either input two was set to guitar of same or a mono effect is used before the spilt point. Please check this and if you cannot find a solution please upload the patch or tell me what patch for custom tone you are referring to and I will have a look.
  6. To me it sounds like a (noise) gate issue, because If threshold is set too high the initial signal falls below this setting and no signal is allowed to pass. So check your treshold settings or else can you yell us more about the patch you are using?
  7. I would suggest to record your guitar without reverb and add the reverb in the mixing stage. That way you have the flexibility to experiment with various options. I dont you if your DAW supports VST, but if it does there are plenty free reverbs available on the internet.
  8. I don't use a compressor to achieve this, but the Studio EQ which I only use to reduce the gain by approximately 4 to 6 Db depending on the amp. This works fine for me and unlike a compressor this does not color the sound in any way.
  9. Yes I did, until now I used either the vintage pre or no amp at all for acoustic guitar. I also tried the new acoustic amp and made a short demo where I use all three options, staring with no-amp, then the vintage pre (at 0:20) and finally the acoustic amp at 0:39. As you will hear the diffences are subtile (at least to my ears) and of course it depends on the various settings. Hope this helps a little. WJ3-acoustic-test.zip
  10. Normally the units of tuning accuracy are cents (one hundredth of a semitone) I compared the POD tuner with my Korg rack tuner and they both show the same movement. So -50/+50 is +/- 50 cents to low/high.
  11. You cannot turn it on because the Jazz Rivet (which is the Roland JC) is the amp section only and does not include the chorus you are looking for. You need to add the chorus effect separately.
  12. To make sure we are talking about the same issue: I'v uploaded a small video where I change the CAP DEP with my mouse... HD EDIT CAB DEP.zip
  13. Hi Duncann, I tried this myself (POD HD PRO edit 2.26.0, Firmware version 2.26, Windows 7) and everything works over here as expected. I can simply use the mouse to select and adjust the CAB dep's. I also can see the values displayed correctly in HD edit. No idea what could be going, maybe others can varify this as well so we get a better understanding of what is happening.
  14. The trails setting is on the first system page, knob 4 (here you can turn it off or on. The way I understand it: the delay or reverb in a preset (or patch if you like), continues when the effect is switched (toggled) off, when the trails setting is ON. This however only applies within a preset, in other words it only applies to the switching off of these effects, it does not work when you switching presets.
  15. I has the same issue with my POD HD PRO some months ago. I did a global reset and since then everything is working as usual, didn't have had this issue again.
  16. Check the input setting. Probably you need to adjust this and change it to guitar.
  17. I use ADAM A3X powered monitors and a Suntec M64 mixer. I use the mixer to adjust the overall output volume and (important to me) it has a headphone output. This way I can power-off the monitors and use the headphone to play late in the evening and at night.
  18. If there are patches without sound, check the input settings and make sure the input is set to guitar. This way it should work
  19. Okay, I tried the path myself and the sound I get is normal. Listening to your demo, it sounds like digital clipping. What you can try is to move the delay after the mixer block and/or lower you guitar volume and see if this helps.
  20. The main differences between the HD 500x and the HD PROx (other than the output options) is preference. I have chosen the rackmount version (with an additional FVB shortboard). My reason for this is that I switched to 19" gear quite some time ago. This way I can exchange any component in the rack without have to replace other elements as well. (today I am still using the poweramp I bought 10 years ago, only the preamp changed several times. Furthermore, in live situations, I don't like to have to get on my knees to make some minor changes (such as overall volume).
  21. I use a Marshall Valvestate Poweramp into two Marshall Speakercabinets (MC series). The nice thing with this valvestate poweramp is (to me anyway) that you can choose between Valvestate and linear state depending on your specific needs, or in other words do you want the Poweramp to add warmth or not.
  22. I guess the flattest response for an acoustic guitar is no amp at all. This is what I do and I am happy with it. However, if you do want to use an amp, try the Ampeg (flip top) or the Vintage Pre, got some nice results with these.
  23. Personally I combine the analog chorus, or any other effect that boost the volume, with the studioEQ, which enables me to adjust the volume. Never used the trichorus effectively.
  24. Threadplate for dirty and Soldano (or blackface double) for clean
  25. Having a POD HD PRO myself, I can check you patch on my POD, that way we can determine it's patch or device related. So if you want me to check this, please upload the patch and I will have a look
