  1. I actually have no idea. I don't understand programming on that level, just thinkin' it through...
  2. I'm merely repeating what has already been said by the powers that be.
  3. Once you get past the I/O (and in my case, I'll be using Helix's I/O as it's my only audio interface currently), we've been instructed that the sound of Helix Native will be exactly the same as Helix hardware.
  4. not sure, but what if Native reserves the entire Helix-sized block of CPU in every instance? Even if it doesn't, and you only use one amp and one cab, I think that might be more CPU power than other plug-ins, by far.
  5. There are a TON of reasons to have the hardware. Snapshot, switching and changing parameters on the fly. Basically, live performance will be way way easier with hardware I expect, based on what they have revealed thus far.
  6. it will indeed, sound exactly like the Floorboard/Rack. There is some functionality that will not be there that is only possible in hardware, but it is MORE than overcome by the ability to do several instances of Native within a recording or MainStage project.
  7. I am pretty sure Eric has indicated it will not work this way. That Helix Native will be, regardless of "level" completely independent of hardware. I have no doubt that this is the way it will work.
  8. -14db isn't too low imho. You don't have to jam the levels when you're recording 24 bit.
  9. I tried a number of free IR for speaker cabs, and actually, the 3 or 4 cabs I like best in Helix are way better for my use, so I don't bother with 'em. I do love IR for making my piezo-equipped acoustics sound amazing however.
  10. When I think on how you actually make an IR, though (which I have), I don't see how you can possibly do this accurately. You have to push sound through the thing you are capturing and mic it. How do you do that with a pickup? Easy to capture an IR of the actual acoustic sound of an arch top, but the electric sound?
  11. I recognize one or two of those bugs... from my NIGHTMARES!
  12. Oh, wait... it IS a 10" driver? That's interesting, they usually work for me. But... another reason why Alto costs as little as it does... jus' saying'...
  13. Honestly, this is one of the reasons I won't use a 12" floor monitor. 10" is the biggest I'll use, and the one I currently own is only 8". But if I had to, I'd just make sure it sounds great in the house and ignore the speaker's boominess.
  14. I can not tune in the time it takes a drummer to count to 4. Who can? Is that really what you mean? That's freakin' impossible. However, for very quick tuning, even if not entirely totally accurate (because of the display limitations) every guitarist alive should have one of the iterations of Polytune imho. I have the Clip version and ADORE it (even if I generally don't use it when using Helix). I never have to tune that quick, but if I did, one strum, and a display that shows me all 6 strings, then a quick tweak, and you're good to go... ... Helix tuner is not designed to compete with something like that, and probably never will be ... It's too accurate (runs and hides...)
  15. 1. Pitch shifting is pretty specialized. It's why I keep my POG2. Glad it's so easy to integrate into Helix. 2. Set the rack where you can see the front of it, or use a separate tuner if need be. 3. there is no reason you can't do this very easily. it's in there right now. VERY easy. 4. You can set your Control to have 10 foot switches, all stomp boxes. It's already in there. It's in globals. 5. I COMPLETELY AGREE! I wish there was a guitar input on the back! 6. I have no problem with the volume pedal setup. Can you give more detail about what doesn't work? Maybe in a separate thread?
  16. Don't you know that you and I are mindless fan bois, Phil? No, seriously... the problem is it's too accurate and fast. If it was less accurate and slow, more people would be happy with it... I'm becoming convinced of this. Fact is... there are those who need to tune really really fast between songs in a live situation who think it's unsuitable. I think they are right, but for different reasons than they might guess. And in virtually all cases where they are complaining, they are comparing to another tuner they prefer which they already own. Well, duh, use that tuner, then. Also, anyone who can tune their guitar with any tuner in 15 seconds isn't getting their guitar in tune as well as the guy who takes a minute or two... I bet if I could test that it would turn out to be very true. For me, my guitars don't drift very much tuning-wise, so I don't need to tune as often as others do, but I don't play real long sets of music either... at least not very much... but again, us mindless fan bois... sheesh... I bet you put Catsup on Hot Dogs, too, man... so lame...
  17. Better than putting Catsup on a hot dog. That **** is WRONG!
  18. Some claim that they can hear a difference as firmware updates have progressed. I don't think I can. I think that they sounded great from the get go. They have obviously ADDED models. For instance, my go-to models were not in the original Helix Rack I received in Dec 2015. The Litigator, the Archon clean, and especially the Matchless Channel 1 and Jump. This is always going to vary from player to player. But you need to make your own patches for best results. I would highly recommend trying the built-in cabs FIRST, changing the mic and other settings, and especially trying DUAL cabs (even if you run mono) before going all hog-wile on IR purchases and downloads. Some of us actually prefer the built-in cabs and their flexibility. What I would say is use the built-in cabs to make some patches that work for you, if they don't get all the way there, THEN look at the built-in cabs that get closest and find some stuff like that. I have a TON of EXCELLENT IR that I've downloaded and I don't use a single one because I found a small handful of the built-in cabs that work amazing for me.
  19. yes, I saw that. It made me feel like it might have been "fudging", since pitches change from moment to moment, especially on a guitar. It is possible that for many people, the nature of Helix's tuner makes it unsuitable for their particular situation. That's okay. In pretty much every case where people are complaining, they are comparing it to another tuner that they already own that they prefer. Just use that tuner...
  20. The fact that one is constantly moving and one is not, by logic, makes me think that the one that isn't moving is "fudging" and is, by that measure, actually LESS accurate. Seriously. Because any note from a guitar string is never 100% the same pitch from one moment to the next. Again, I believe this logic is flawed.
  21. Even then, I'll wager they'd be different, not one better. Although the system in the PRS is kinda designed for that guitar, and may work (in the PRS) better than a PowerBridge I'll wager. The IR however in my experience totally levels the playing field.
  22. I think they're done talking about it, as Digital Igloo mentions above.
  23. That's the important and cool part. I've done the math as far as how much income I'm GUESSING Line 6 has received in the first two years of Helix, and I would think that the future is very consequential based on that. But moreso because it's obvious in my dealings with the Line 6ers that they, frankly, love doing this and are passionate about the music as much as the tools. Thanks again! You guys really do go above and beyond constantly.
  24. Yup. Kinda how I got hooked. Since about 10 years ago now, I've never owned an electric guitar that didn't have some kind of PowerBridge type of deal on it. Used 'em all I think, and the PowerBridge is my favorite, especially with 3 Sigma IR in Helix! Ghost is really good, too.
