They've still to squeeze in another delay, which is the auto-volume from the HD. Would much rather have seen that instead of the stereo delay, but welcome in any event. Anyway, it's still way early for Helix; I doubt they are done with it. But if they are done, I'll give up playing guitar forever.

LOL. You're right. Post deleted above. Good example of a person seeing what they want to see, in this case me. I checked again on TGP and found the post I saw, indeed by someone other than DI, but with a picture of Helix for an avatar.

Even if it is a hardware problem, I wonder if it could be compensated for in software.

What a disgrace to one of the most awesome geological formations on this planet. Bastards.

I thought I couldn't replicate one of my most important tones from the HD without the dimension chorus, but I was wrong about that. Have you looked at the choruses in Helix? They really are quite nice, and makes me now look at the dimension chorus as completely unnecessary. In fact, even if they did put one in there, I'm not sure I would even use it for anything. The irony is I'm the one who put this on ideascale, lol.

I have the EP1-L6 and use it with an HD500X. You are correct about it being built like a tank. However, if you go with this pedal, be aware that there is a 'dead spot' on the pedal (not the pedals fault). The last 1/4" or so of travel doesn't do anything, it's dead. It can be fixed by adding 19.5K Ohms of resistance across the used terminals of the 10K pot in the EP1-L6, or across the conductors of a cable that you're going to use to connect to the HD500X.

Have the parameter knobs jump to the last saved value when pressed

Voted. Great idea. Don't forget to vote for it yourself. :) -

Instead of a global choice option, just have successive presses cycle through default, min, max, and last saved, much like pressing the joystick when naming presets, you can go from A to a to 0 to A. But maybe that's already what you meant. -
I hope one the effects will be an LFO controller with touch dynamics that can be applied to any other effect ... or reverse delay and auto-volume. The LFO is popular on ideascale, so possible, but probably further down the road. We'll find out soon enough I guess.

Good luck quitting smoking. Sounds to me like you have all the right motivations in place. When you get your Helix, I'm quite sure you'll have something more to keep your mind easily distracted. So it should be a big help. I've smoked about as long as you and have been down to 2 or 3 (not packs!) a day for quite some time, years. I guess I just like the nicotine head-rush, which you actually get when you smoke so few.

Hmm... I tried this with Reaper and am having expected results. CC32 LSB selects the setlist (0-7), and the PC message (0-127) selects the preset. One thing I've come across that will prevent it from working is the global setting under MIDI/Tempo -> MIDI PC Send/Receive. This has to be on for this to work, which is the default I believe.

I can answer 1, but not 2 or 3 as I've no idea about the real amps. Sorry about that. Anyway, the amp dep parameters are still there, but they are not really classified as anything other than more amp parameters. You just have to page+ to get to them. And these parameters really do have a significant effect, depending on the amp, much more so as compared to HD modeling. The cab dep parameters are no longer there. They dumped the whole resonator scheme from the HD. Instead you have more mics for each cab and 12 mic distances - 1 to 12 inches, low and high-cut filters, and a very convenient level control. In fact, the level control is present on all blocks I've come across so far.

Here's an ideascale entry for this: http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Reverse-Delay-for-Helix/740489-23508

I could sort of reproduce this, using the Soup Pro preset, but I'm still able to control the wah. It's just that when switching the expression pedal, it doesn't change to controlling the volume even though it's still assigned to EXP2, it still controls the wah. Weird bug indeed. By the way, I have a unit that has inserts in both XLR jacks.

I use it in the simple way of toggling effects via Reaper, and it works fine for that. I haven't used this, but you could go the other way and send midi info to Reaper from Helix, to make interesting things happen in the DAW. I'm sure you can also control external midi devices with Helix. I've briefly tried this with my HD500X and it worked fine. This was directly connected via a midi cable and not over usb. While you can use the DAW to control Helix, I'm unsure if you could tell Helix via the DAW to send midi data over it's midi ports to control another device. Might be something interesting to look into.

It may be easier and faster, if positioned properly. If it's not, or there's no room available to that, there may be physical side effects to the back and at least one shoulder. :D I should try and do what you say and use pedal edit mode more, but when experimenting with replacing, subtracting, or moving blocks, pedal edit mode starts to get in the way a bit. But as long as the preset's block placement is set, that's where pedal edit mode works great. The problem is, how does one know when the block placement is set? Maybe you guys put in too many damn options. I for one look forward to the editor and am certainly glad there is going to be one.

Unlikely, but sometimes jacks like this can just wear out, or plain break. Who knows why? I've had to replace the jack on my JEM 7V (they use stereo jacks on these by the way) before a year passed. While it's easy to replace a jack on a guitar, maybe this is not so easy on an HD500X.

The bass pack is absolutely essential if you use your HD500X for bass at all. While you can get fairly decent results without it, I've found it takes a lot of tweaking and headaches to accomplish. Without the pack, my bass preset consists of two amps, two compressors, three EQs, and a reverb. With the bass pack, I can achieve a very similar tone that's more clear, crisp, and defined with only one amp, one compressor, and one reverb. If you want to hear an example of the SVT Bright model and 4x10 Rhino cab within a mix using an Ibanez SR1205E, check out my song Transformative Annihilation.

Mine is like this also. Maybe it's no coincidence that the loose ones also allow a push down ability, which the volumes don't.

Here's a preset for what it is I think you might want. It may not be the best way to do this, but it should work. It allows for some common pre-effects and a separate cab, delay, reverb, etc. for each amp, and/or common post effects. The delay and reverb tails are there regardless of the effect's trails setting, because the delays and reverbs are always active; the trails setting is used when the effect is bypassed. If you want to smoothly transition between the two amps, you could also assign the Route To parameter to one of the expression controllers. Also, I didn't try to actually make any sort of usable tone with this preset. I didn't actually even try it. Just randomly chose the blocks. TwoAmpSwitch.zip

Why is the Chorus and Phaser effect strongest at 50% mix level?
duncann replied to HonestOpinion's topic in Helix
Here's maybe a little more info about this: http://line6.com/support/topic/16163-mix-control-for-many-modulation-effects/ -
Another way is to assign the Route To parameter of an A/B Split to a switch: 1. Select the A/B split 2. Menu button 3. Controller Assign 4. Use the encoder to select the controller you want to use, such as footswitch 2 5. Min and max values should already bet set correctly 6. Home button

You could export a blank setlist and then import into the factory preset setlists. And then make a completely blank bundle, so when you want to blank everything after a reset or something, it would be a simple import of a bundle.
