Try holding 9 and 10 while powering on, see what that does.
-
How are you trying to reset? If I remember, holding buttons 8 and 9 while powering on will reset the setlists and IRs, which is what I did to recover mine from the black screen. There is also the reset that is buttons 9 and 10 which resets globals as well.

Renaming the IRs, in your file manager, with a numbered prefix - 001-,002-,003- ... 128- (1-,2-,3- ... 128 has unexpected results also) - seems to load them in the order you see them in your file manager. However, if you grab a bunch with prefixes of 001- to 019- and drag them to the Helix application starting at a slot other than 001, it will have unexpected results. In other words, the numbered prefix corresponds to the slot location on Helix. Also, the number prefix, 001-, 002-,, etc. is discarded when loaded, which is good. Edit: Urgh! Never mind to the above. On a successive clear/load, I have no idea what it's doing now. It seems random. It's picking slot 014 and for some reason is seeing that as slot 001 (file manager slot that is). The prefix is still discarded though. Edit2: Power cycled the unit and now it loads everything as expected again. Edit3: After you have everything loaded in Helix the way you want, from the IRs containing the added prefixes in the filename, and then export them from Helix, the prefixes are gone. Back to square one. So it's best to keep your custom IRs with the prefixes on your computer.

You can select all IRs on Helix and just drag them to your file manager, or select all IRs and click the export button. It's loading them back to Helix that becomes problematic. I might try indexing the filenames to see if that helps, but that will take away characters from an already short filename.

Is there a predictable way to determine the order of the IRs when a bunch are grabbed from a file manager to the Helix application? Ideally, it would be great if it would load them sequentially in the order they are seen in the file manager when sorted alphabetically, but something other is going on. For my current list of compiled IRs, it seems to load them ok in an alphabetical order except it takes the last one listed in the file manager and loads is first. It's easy to just move this one IR to the bottom of the list and clear the first IR slot in the Helix application, but as my list grows, is this going to be the way it always works? If so, I guess that's predictable, but odd. This is important because presets that have IR blocks in them rely on the position a given IR is loaded in. And seeing that currently Helix is prone to crashing, requiring at least a preset and IR wipe, this can quickly become quite annoying.

I've had this happen for the first time as well. Lucky for me, I backed up what I had done first. Time to get in the habit of backing up before turning the unit off. If this happened live though, yep, the device becomes a pretty looking brick.

Thanks. I guess that makes sense, but it seems kind of counter-intuitive. Plus the downside of cutting the granularity in half, because I don't see a reason for going above 50%. It doesn't sound right. But I didn't really mess with the stereo models too much, mostly mono. Where's this other thread? Edit: I was still unsure when I wrote the above, but it all of sudden clicked in my brain. Makes perfect sense now. But I still don't like the loss of resolution.

Can someone explain more clearly how the mix control on most, but not all, mod effects is supposed work? Some work like you'd expect; 100% mix gives the wettest effect. Most of them, mono or stereo, sound to me like the mix goes from min, 0%, to max, 50%. Above 50% I can't tell what is happening, but something is changing. It just doesn't sound like an increasing effect on the signal.

I was also disappointed to see this. The absence of a note for the rate might not be so bad if the rate could be dialed in with a little more granularity. The ubiquitous vibe is also like this, and as a result I much prefer the u-vibe in the HD.

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SpiderCapo I suppose you could use more than one of these to achieve intervals.

The first one listed there is not only a horrible bar, but a horrible bug, which when compounded by a dual amp patch, becomes more horrible. Line 6 is apparently aware of this and is working on a fix. I was informed of this after opening a support ticket back in April. I don't use OS X, but on Win7, when using the expression pedal with HD Edit open, sometimes a sync error occurs which can cause unpredictable results with the HD itself. Never had HD edit crash though.

I know things like this are hard to track down, especially when not reproducible, but one time after turning Helix on the seltlist changed. When I turned it off, it was on setlist 3, patch 6. When I turned it on, it was on setlist 1, patch 6. Twice now. This time it was on setlist 3, patch 7 when turned off. Turned on this morning and it's on setlist 1, patch 7.

Every time I want to try a third party IR, I keep forgetting that I have to audition them first using a DAW to find out which ones I want to put on Helix. Trying to audition IRs with just Helix alone would be painstaking. But I'm really glad the feature is there because I'll eventually come across that one or two or three that is just awesome sounding.

That is really weird. Other than a global reset and pedal calibration, the only thing I can think of doing is just restarting both your computer and the HD. Coincidentally, on my helix, the last two blocks on path 1A were invisible after a firmware update.

Looks like a neat idea, but they are a bit vague on their website as how they're attached. Is it some sort of adhesive? String pressure? Another idea might be a standard straight clamp with six adjustable 'clamps' up or down two or three frets. The method of attachment to the neck might have to be kind of elaborate through.

Ah, ok, I think I get it now. No, I haven't noticed Helix behave like this when changing mics. Everything stays pretty much even as far as volumes. The volume does change a bit when changing the mic distance, but there is a conveniently placed level control right there when editing the cab/mic parameters.
-
Both the app and updater work on win7 and win10 for me. Not sure what the problem could be for people having crashes, but if it's something that Line 6 can fix, I'm sure they eventually will...
-
Any mic can be used on any cab. Not sure what you mean about more of a different character. The volume levels between the different cab and mic combos are relatively consistent, as far as I've noticed. A volume compensation would be necessary for sure when changing the mic distance from 1" to 10", 10" being obviously quieter.

You'll have to take the output (1/4",xlr,spdif,etc.) from Helix for zero latency. The re-amping feature using USB is really awesome. Really easy to set up too.
-
I believe when the manual references the digital XLR connector, it's just referring to the physical type of connector. Nothing to do with the analog XLR or 1/4" outputs.

Don't know about the requested data, but there's this taken from TGP from a post by Digital_Igloo: Here are Helix's, if you want to compare: A/D 8 Channels: https://www.cirrus.com/en/pubs/proDatasheet/CS5368_F5.pdf D/A 8 Channels: https://www.cirrus.com/en/pubs/proDatasheet/CS4385_F2.pdf But again, we do some patented trickery to get 123dB of dynamic range on the Guitar Input, even though the converters are rated at 114dB.
-
I was wondering about this as well. Sometimes my device does this, sometimes not. There was one time after I updated the firmware, but before a factory reset (holding buttons 9 and 10 while powering on), where the right half of the main screen was static filled. But when navigating through the model lists, the text was 'over-layed' on the static. Haven't had this problem again after doing the reset. To anyone that knows, is there someplace (perhaps the faq thread), where you can list all of the button combos to hold down while powering up and what they do? This might be really helpful in the case of an emergency.
-
Could it be when editing a preset and moving the selection with the joystick, the joystick was accidentally turned while over the input, changing the input source?
-
My guess is because you'd need a entire processor (or two for Helix) devoted to just that task. But you can have trails within a preset, and presets allow for quite a bit of flexibility within them.
-
You can't have more than one effect in one block, but you can have up to 32 blocks in one preset. So to get the 700 and 1.4k bands, you could use a parametric EQ, or use two blocks and two simple EQs.
